Yeah I’m thinking of making the pool on when Joe Mad will finish his run on Ultimates 3 but I don’t want the pool to run 5 years long. 
It’s like Loeb didn’t read a single comic from the Ultimate Universe (least of all an issue of the Ultimates) before penning this issue. Why is 616 Venom in this story and not Ultimate Venom? Why is 616 Thor in this issue and not Ultimate Thor? Why is Jeph Loeb such a shitty hack?
yeah, while the art was alright/nice, I found the story totally boring and strangely out of sync with the previous ultimate runs. Maybe it’s cause everyone seems downright pissed in this particular issue.
joe mad did say before the u3 run he was going to give the cast a classic feel to them and defeated the porpuse of the real world time in the book 
boooooo wtf joe mad and loeb this book isnt for the classic look its a real time senario but whats ever whats done is done i guess, so on the story its self quick- silver running after a majic bullet to save his “beloved” sister/gf!! wtf and gets a hole in his hand!!
In defense of Venom, it was in the Spider-man video game Bendis wrote (which is canon) that he gained the white spider and was able to talk.

Yeah, I remember reading some interview with Mad about how he wanted to restore the classic costumes and stylings. Guess he didn’t care about storytelling and substance. The first issue wasn’t even interesting or entertaining, or even unintentionally comedic. It was just uncreative, uninspired, and I think Chuck Austen and Liefeld could have done a better job - LOL, fighting words! Bring it on, bubs.
I thought about creating a Player Haters Thread just to bash this comic, but it looks like there are other people who don’t like it, either.

how many issues is joe mad slated to pencil on ultimates? on the note of joe mad, i saw a page of what was labeled battle chasers #10 in a gallery somewhere. i’ve read all #9 issues of BC, but this featured characters that i’d never seen as well as one of Monica’s two stooges (the skinny guy) laid out on the ground, totally pwnt.
listen he will be drawing ultimates til the next final fantasy comes out. tim townsend snitched on him lol…i used to get inking tips from him since he’s in new england and dude was seriously like…ya battle chasers was late cause mofo was playing ff 7 at the time.
Yeah I love how Joe Mad blamed all of the Battle Chasers lateness on legal issues when meanwhile Crimson by Humberto Ramos that was from the same company came out every single month on time. Ah good old Humberto Ramos. That’s what happens when you draw comics in Mexico and make like five cents a page, you appreciate the work you get and you know, actually hand in your pages on time. After Joe Mad left Marvel he’s basically taking a life long vacation, working when he feels like it. Eh it’s probably a smart way to live actually…
ya them legal issues was bullshit, mad artists(see wut i did there) put him on blasts saying his ass was playing video games. everyones like that dude is stuck in ff7 land. maybe legal issues after but it def started out wit dat ff7…its dat crack. lol.
humberto, man he’s too nice. he drew me a quick sketch at a con as he was leaving and even took a picture wit me. i didnt think he would draw me a sketch…lol all i wanted was for him to take a pic wit me cuz he was leaving. humberto is fucking dope in my book…even if his art is iffy when its not his creator own stuff. crimson was my shit back in 7th grade.
Ultimates 3 is 5 issues.
It was originally supposed to be (never publicly announced) to be about 10-12, a typical run, but there were some developments with his video game company that cut it short to 5 instead.
As far as I am aware, he has at least up to issue 3 completely penciled.
All covers are done (as per the usual on any book).
Should be finishing up 4 now. I’d have to check.
Monika’s two stooges are named Bengis (fat guy)and Akiman (skinny guy) after the two Capcom artists.
He probably had at least some of issue 10’s cover laid out, that’s probably what you saw.

You know i wasn’t even going to pick it up until i read this thread lol. Now i’m curious of how bad the story is and how good the art is. Honestly (just my opinion) i’ve never been a fan of anything ultimate. Feels too much like a REAAAALY exaggerated graphic soap opera
But man you guys really convinced me to read this now, i’ll stop by my comic shop after work haha!

finally got a hold of and finished the first issue. joe mad is, as usual, top tier, despite tangential fanboy rants on his poor punctuality. the sooner everyone can admit that us to joe mad’s pencils is like a battered woman to an abusive relationship, the happier everyone will be. except for the actual battered woman in an abusive relationship.
as for jeph loeb, well… people typically don’t have high expectations of transvestite, pole-dancing dwarves, and likewise after hush i didn’t have any for loeb either, so no letdown for me in that department.

I get it in the mail, it used to be worth it.
It isn’t anymore. It was like a normal issue of New Avengers. If I wanted to read New Avengers I would read New Avengers.
Joe Mad isn’t as good of a penciler to me anymore either. Everyone has the same face and everyone is extra jacked. I guess I was spoiled with the previous Ultimates.
