Why do you guys torture yourselves with these weird teams. Its tough enough that you have chosen to use spider-man. Now you have chosen to use spider-man with below average assists. I don’t get it. Is it character loyalty? those assists aren’t good. Those characters are point characters. They are point characters that are better than spider-man, so you probably shouldn’t be running spider-man on point.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying drop spiderman and pick zero or something. You just gotta accept that spiderman is not as good as zero and so your team pool is more limited than zero. Zero is so good that you can pretty much pick any assist and have a decent team. That’s Not the case with spiderman. That’s all I’m saying.
Well, with the web throw loop into play, there’s no real need for Spidey to pick the stronger combo extenders for damage. Just make sure that your neutral assist character works with the your other pick.
If you still can’t plink by now, better practice as it will open a lot of options.
Did I miss it? What’s the backstory behind Peter Parker’s dad? Looks really cryptic in the trailer for the new movie? Do you think the movie will reflect the books this time?
Also, I really like this site for Spider-man fans: http://spiderfans.socialtoaster.com/
I’ve already won some signed concept art, and they’re giving away a free world movie premier, Pretty cool.
@STANG Why do we play Spidey? because he’s the bomb. why do we play with other non top tier characters? because some of us want to test the limits, play who suits their style, make it work and just because it’s a good time
Isn’t that what it’s all about?
spidey teams are sooo hard to come up with. His point play isn’t quite the problem, kinda sorta though lol, its his damn teams he’s on. They don’t handle tops very well.
Been playing spidey\dante\strider but the neutral game is kind of weak, hypothetically spidey\dante\doom beam\strider would be the best if 3 assists were allowed. I think it means that spidey\dante\doom beam is also a good spidey team which doesn’t sound that bad. However not having an anchor on it kind of hurts which is why I prefer the strider option even though it suffers in the neutral a bit more.
raoh is right about the web throw loop for damage. When you can do it, you can start picking other assists to combine with spidey to allow for alternate team chemistry. It opens the door for team permutations.
while I think spidey’s team combinations are pretty shitty ATM, I think of all the mid tiers he has a lot of tools to combat the tops. viewtiful joe is kind of in the same group as spiderman and the problems joe has on point, spidey could manage to stray away from. Same for other good mid tiers like x23, spidey does not have the same problems in the neutral. Because of that, I think he’s good but without a dominant team to exploit what he’s doing, he will always just have potential.
Every Spidey player should just learn how to do the web throw loops. Took me around 4 days and a button remapping to finally get it, longer than me learning hyper grav loops (I can’t even ROM).
The loop allows ToDs for 1 bar and can also save your ground bounce for various combo extenders, etc. The plinks you learn allow you to quickly get into Spidey’s more favorable positions in the neutral; next to your opponent or full screen away, something that can’t exactly be done by zips and air dashes. Spidey’s plinks also has a low hurt box that allows you to sneak through diagonal soul fists, Mag blast pressure, mid screen finger lasers, vajra, missiles, etc. The combo has too many benefits to ignore.
@sh0ultz, do you use jam session or weasel shot? I suggest you use weasel shot if you have strider because it is incredibly easy to confirm off of and vajra can already take care of the skies. While you can’t get combo extensions late in the combo with weasel shot, you can just do the max amount of reps in the web throw loop and then do spider-sting into hard tag. Also, weasel shot makes it pretty easy to setup hi/lows. I found it pretty practical to dash up and go for a TK web swing when my opponent blocks weasel shot at the right range. @Raoh, I agree about the web throw loop. My plinks in the neutral have also improved greatly since I learned the loop. It really doesn’t even involve that much timing, I can do them online pretty consistently (unless the connection is absolutely terrible).
I agree with brightside 100%, if you have good movement Spidey/Mags is ridiculous. I switched my main team to Spidey/Mags/Doom (Plasma beam)
I like this team a lot. Mobility, Rush down, Keepaway, TAC Infinites, Guard breaks, DHC’s, Lockdown.
I literally get everything I want in a team.
I haven’t been able to play much, but I need to get the web throw loops down so I can kill with one bar, or at least 2. I’m so used to getting an easy kill off of a super easy combo then DHC’ing into Dorm.
I still use dorm against Modok, Trish, and characters like that but I want to really step up my mags.
I would absolutely agree to this if Magneto’s assists were as easy or reliable to convert off as Doom, Dante or IM’s, that way you can have Vergil or Strider anchor. Having Spidey, Mags with Doom, Dante or IM anchor are all pretty decent teams though.
