The ULTIMATE, Friendly-Neigborhood, Spider-man Team-building Thread

So after playing with his assist for an hour I’ve not only taken note of things that could possibly deter people from him but also came up with a new team that would probably utilize him better. So I may keep Iron Man so I can keep practicing him but my go to team for the time being, and maybe my FR team, will be spidey dorm doom. I’ll write up that setup later but as I was saying with Dorms assist.

Im not sure the startup of Iron Mans assist but it SEEMS faster than Dorms and a lot more lenient. In the corner after an extended combo even if you jump straight up you must do two things.

One, you must time your :s: to hit at the top of your arc or on the way down from your super jump. Then when you land you must call Dorm and dash back then jump zip. It is possible to swing zip but it’s a bit harder.

If I’m running Doom behind him then more than likely I’ll just resort to raw tag combos into Doom loop.

Repulsor Blast comes out on 35 or 37, so it’s ~20 frames faster than Dark Hole. And yeah, Dark Hole is annoying as crap to land in the corner. HOWEVER, it is possible to get an OTG Web Zip-> Dark Hole->Web Throw after a Web Throw to midscreen, something that isn’t possible with most other combo-extending assists.

Ah so it is faster oh well. Anyways I could probably use it midscreen but having Dorm forces me to go to solo combos or Doom assisted combos and use his assist for zoning and pressure.

So I’ve been using Tenderizer for awhile and it doesn’t control space as much as I had hope. The space under his fists is easy to abuse when crouching. Also, projectiles and lost normals (Vergil…) toast it. I would give Orbital grudge a try, but that would be I would lose some techs I use such as a UWT reset I made and Toy Touch, :a1:, :h: ADK for combo extending.

Shady K tears up with Felicia using Sentinel Drones for lock-down, plus it’s long range. Great synergy, but then again Drones goes with everything. :rofl:

Also, I tried your idea of using block string xx Web Swing assist xx Cat & Mouse for a left-right mixup, but it’s a little harder than it sounds. haha It works though. Clean.

Tenderizer is a great assist but its very unique as its an anti-air lockdown assist. Is a very unique assist that for Spidey helps more to keep the opponent on hold after the web zip otg and for mixups when a new char enter.

I have been thinking of a team consisting of Spider-Man and Skrull as I honestly feel Skrull is broken but right now I am looking for that third assist. I have been thinking in using Ryu (more synergy than Akuma), Strider or make Skrull anchor and make a team of Spider-Man, Zero, Skrull.

Any opinions or advice please?

Here’s to narrow down your choices. If you’re putting Skrull as anchor, get a second with an assist to help Spidey get in, set unblockables or lockdown and has a safe and good hitting DHC - Hawkeye, Mag, Sent, etc. If you’re having Skrull as second, get a similar one but one with good anchor abilities - Wesker, Doom, Akuma, etc.

I used Spidey, Skrull and Doom in vanilla with smite and missiles to maximize web throw combos. The team seems more effective now because of all the nice changes they got. The other member doesn’t necessarily have to have those characteristics but it would make the team a much safer pick. There are other nice ones which don’t fall in like F.West because of his assist and good synergy with MS to level up.

you can dhc an inferno really high (launch, mmh inferno) before the last hit into frank’s whiff qcb super and get lv 4 instantly!

hey guys, long time reader first time poster, im having a bit of trouble with spiderman in ultimate i used to run deadpool (katanarama)/spierman (web ball)/ryu (tastasu) in vanilla and got me to 6th lord i found the synergy to be quite good especially the synergy between deadpool and spiderman well apart from dhc’s being good, i use to use the katanarama assist with deadpool to OTG them into maximum spider, but in ultimate i cant get it to work so dont know if they changed it in ultimate or my timing wrong. i know spider man has his own otg but i can never be able to pull it off not sure what im doing wrong and why it wont connect :S
but in ultimate i have been running this team and the synergy seems to have changed or its me being rusty.
so after the first paragraph to the main point :stuck_out_tongue:
is the any synergy to be had with deadpool/spiderman/ryu?

I found it hard but it is possible to do spider-man’s OTG web zip with Ryu’s tatsu assist. That’s all I really know about those people.
For the web zip OTG you could do web swing xx web zip but you need to cancel as soon as possible. Or you could dash back, jump and do the web zip.

I have reduced my options to Spidey-Skrull-Ryu/Frank…

I will have to go to the lab to see which one fits better but sadly I don’t have the game until next year :frowning:

Instead of Deadpool OTG to MS, use web throw first then TK MS, it’s much easier to do it now because of Spidey’s faster recovery after web throw. If you find it hard to TK MS, you can use sting to MS.

To add, if you insist on using Deadpool OTG, :l: Web Throw xx TK MS then know that there’s a chance you will air dash if you don’t time it correctly. If that happens, don’t get incredibly flustered or bewildered. Keep going and try for a reset.

Personally, I would try to find some uses for Deadpool’s Quick Work assist because Spidey can OTG himself or improvise with some other combo.

thats the problem i cant seem connect with spiderman otg webzip, it normally misses or they recover too quickly also sorry but what do u mean by TK?
Its like in mission mode with spiderman, missions 8,9,10 all require the web zip otg to continue the combo. its in these circumstances i cant get it to hit confirm which is why during a hard knockdown i try to use a otg assist to relaunch them. so any help regarding getting the web zip to otg would open this characther up again for me. Like in vanilla spiderman didnt have the OTG webzip available to him so which is why i use to use katanrama assist to relaunch them from hard knockdown into MS. i have tried searching for tips on this and its seems noone has trouble with it expect me :stuck_out_tongue:
I have also looked at vesperarcade’s videos on the missions to see what he does during the web zip to get it to connect but its seems just a backward jump and down-forward web zip and it connects which is confusing cause when i try that myself it just misses or they recover.
sorry if this seems like a whiny post but after hours of keep trying this and failing, it gets very frustrating lol.

You’re just miscalculating when Spidey recovers. Set the opponent to jump then air throw him a lot. As soon as Spidey is done throwing them web zip and press :h: immediately after. Practice that first. Once you have that work on web throw. This one is a slight trickier but nothing too crazy. When you see the opponents legs straight up in the air that is your key to zip. Again you want to immediately press :h:. Practice this over and then move to UWT. This one teaches you how to jump up to continue. Unless you are in the corner you never really have to dash back to catch them.

Hey everyone, I am finally jumping off the lurk wagon and am deciding to get involved in the forums. Though I am in no way new to fighting games, I am still pretty new to the idea of playing them on a tactical level instead of just screwing around with friends like I used to in this sort of thing.

Ever since vanilla I have been desperate to pick up Spidey(mostly because I used to love watching the animated series, but that’s beside the point) and I find myself having trouble forming teams with the guy. My (bad) habit before this point was always to pick the characters I had the greatest connection to regardless of synergy, but now I’m trying to actually plan effectively my team.

So far, I’ve got Spidey on point with Strider as an anchor with Vajra assist, I want to wrap my brain around using him as an anti air and maybe get into the habit of using the web glide OTG to pull a combo if I land them in hard knockdown because of it. I’m am bouncing around with the middle character of my team trying to find one that fits it well. Something that can combo extend but might have some defensive uses as well. I’ve played with Chun-li, Iron Man, and a few others that aren’t coming to me right now but I’m still wondering if there is anything else to screw around with.

I’m open to any and all suggestions and very much appreciate any advice anyone is willing to give me.

wesker, dante, doom. these 3 characters are also great at picking up after a vajra anti air, and provide spidey with a viable assist as well.

wesker’s gunshot is decent for combos, reset opportunities, and unblockable setups.

dante’s jam session is another great anti air, decent lockdown. his weasel shot is okay.

all of doom’s assists are good, but as you have strider for anti-air, plasma beam is probably the best in this spot.
