dorm/doom/hawkeye are spidey’s best friends, hawkeye is the worst of the 3 but the easiest to implement, doom probably the one with the most obvious strengths, and dorm actually is a strong character by himself
i think dorm/vergil on the same spidey team is a bit overkill, might want to drop one or the other for a neutral assist. i think dorm/vergil on same team really only works when they got a neutral assist and spidey can’t provide that.
i think the most fun team to play in terms of just having options when you hit someone is spidey/vergil/frank though haha. can go into a frank raw tag level 4, can go into a raw tag frank lv 3 dhc to vergil for a kill, can dhc to vergil and raw tag to frank for lv 4, and shopping cart is ok for the other 2 characters.
dunno where i’m going with this post. i think the best third for spider dorm can be chosen from doom, mag, hawkeye, task, sent. probably missing some people. idk.
Whats a good second for Spider/xx/Skrull? I remember watching a video where doom was the second but are there others than can do some damage and compliment the team structure? I was thinking hawkeye but I’m not sure if it would work…
Anyone with a good neutral assist and good/safe DHC. You don’t really need someone with good DHC from MS if you’re using smite assist as that makes an easy web throw to corner CA.
Though Skrull a good anchor with random meteor smashes, I’d prefer him second with either Sent drones or Doom rocks or IM beam.
hey I am new to Ultimate and still learning the basics. I am trying to build a team using characters I actually like, my two favourite characters that i want to have on a team are Spiderman and Dr.Strange, is there any synergy between these two? or is this combination hopeless…
Welcome to the boards, Therookie! Spidey and Dr. Strange actually have fairly decent synergy between them, the obvious reason being that Dr. Strange supplies Spiderman with two potentially strong assists (Bolts of Balthak and Eye of Agamotto), and Spell of Vishanti is also a very strong DHC after Maximum Spider Crawler Assault or Ultimate Web Throw. I don’t know too much about Dr. Strange, so that’s all I can pretty much say for that. If you’re looking for a third character as well, I’d suggest someone who provides a strong assist that is a potentially strong anchor. A few characters off the top of my head that fit that specific role are:
-Magneto (EMP Disruptor)
-Vergil (Rapid Slash)
-Taskmaster (Horiz. Arrows)
-Hawkeye (Greyhound)
-Akuma (Tatsumaki)
-Dante (Weasel Shot or Jam Session)
They could work. I’m actually running Spidey, Strange and IM as a fun team. If you could find a better assist that could aid both Spidey and the Strange and is a good anchor, then you got yourself a team.
I’m new to using Strange too so I’m still learning who could back him up. I just like using him because he makes a lot of noise.
ARGH MY HEAD HURTS!!! Anyways I am still wanting my Xbox but still stuck on teaming up a third with my dynamic duo. I have a small list but I’m noticing all my characters fall under the technical category one way or another :rolleyes: I even wrote up team overviews for each combination for my personal reference but I am so undecided considering my lack of competition to fully exploit any of the shit really. Right now I have the following.
X-23 on Ankle Slice. Sets up unblockables, strong anchor, level three setups, provides unblockable resets as opposed to combo extension. Downfall, stronger with assist behind her as she’s more of a point character herself.
Dormammu on Dark Hole. Eh I’m torn with this one. I rather play Dorm second, honestly both him and Storm are interchangeable between 2nd and 3rd but I just prefer him in 2nd more with an assist behind him. I still need more work with him but he hasn’t hurt me too badly.
Iron Man on Repulsor Blast. Provides damage and coverage for both Storm and Spidey and has decent anchor abilities once X-Factor is popped. Downfall, his mobility kills him on his own. Once in there a clean hit can kill but trying to stay in there safely is the catcher. Still a likely candidate though.
Sentinel on Drones… I hate this guy… and I miss MvC2… ARGH!!! Plus side he’s strong… downside… he ain’t DAT SENTINAAAAL!!! 'nuff said
Dante on Jam Session. I’ll be honest, I admire Dante players, truth be told I was gonna play him originally with Spidey but I confused myself too much with him. I really don’t see many short comings with him and as far as my preferred set up goes, point with horizontal and vertical coverage, this team setup would be the closest I get to my MvC2 style setups. Only downfall is myself here :annoy:
Those are it really. I still have Doom in there but I just don’t have too much fun with him. Too braindead and his combos are too easy for my taste. If my shit ever gets here soon I can probably actually put in work with X-23 and Dante… and the big ass robot. ARGH!!! Night yall
Honestly, I’d advise against X-23 if you want to run Storm too. Storm just doesn’t really give her great support should Spider-Man die.
If you want to run Spider-Man and X-23, you almost need a projectile assist. She’s a great anchor/XF3 character, but an even stronger XF2 character with the proper assist. You’re going to want an actual left/right mixup with her, and something to help her get in. Whirlwind does neither.
Storm gets nothing from her, too. The biggest thing X-23 gives a team in terms of support is a massively invincible DHC in WXP, and a happy birthday’ing lowTG (which is situational but hey, it’s better). Storm pretty much fills that with THC into Hail, and Hail being pretty hard to tag in most situations where it’s a DHC.
If Spider-Man dies, you’re playing a pair of point characters that can’t help each other.
whirlwind isn’t that bad with her but I’m not running her second I’d run her third. What I’m really trying to do is find someone who compliments the two of them together as they have such strong chemistry together. Only reason I was thinking X-23 is because of the unblockables but even I realize I’m not much of a rushdown style player. Even when I did have a rushdown style team I never abused the shit, now that I realized it they’ve nerfed Tron :annoy: More than likely it’ll be Dante, Sent (FUCKIN AYE), and Iron Man I dedicate a bunch of time to. At least with those three I can then start mixing and matching different combinations to find what I like best.
Oh good luck with that. Hardly anyone has Dorm’s crossup hitbox. The only few I can think of is Dante’s j:h: and Wesker’s j:s:

If Storm had a little more juice on point you could make more happen I think There’s always Vergil too if you wanna push people out a bunch with Rapid Slash. I hear ya on Sent. He just does not function at all unless he can call Jam Session and confirm, only time he feels complete hahaha.
That’s bout the only thing he actually has from MvC2 but the fact that they limited vertical assist like that to Dante and Dormammu pisses me off. ARGH. I’m confident in Storm enough that once I sit down and do with her what I did with Spidey that I’ll be able to run her more confidently. I know with both Iron Man and Dante I can at least get more consistent 700k combos between doing jump loops into fly loops or 800k if I do her solo combos then push the assist and typhoons at the end of combos. Bleh I should have figured this all out a while ago. Yeah Akuma, as good of an assist he is, I’ve never really liked with the exception of alpha 3 where he was a true boss. Other than that he’s just meh to me.
dante is one of spidey’s best teammates, it’s just that every spidey player puts so much effort into their spidey that when dante comes around they’re like, now i gotta put effort into this guy too?
i know dante’s stuff isn’t incredibly technical or anything but it is more complicated than a lot of other characters in the game.
It wasn’t a problem with learning him it was just all his moves confused me in Vanilla with all the extra inputs and how he had all those damn moves that I had to remember what was what. As far as Vanilla goes he was a rekka player of marvel having to remember different combinations after the first inputted special. As for actual synergy though most of it would come off raw tag shenanigans into ground bounce resets, wall bounces, acid loops etc.

And I had too much fun with every single team… wtf. That last one would’ve probably been better if I had switched the last two slots because although Doom is the most highly overrated anchor, excluding Sentinel, Spidey-Dorm synergy is just too good to mess with. Same would probably go for the second-to-last team I mentioned, despite how ass Iron Man is in the anchor slot. I’d rather just play it like Marvel 2 where the third character is more so an assist than anything.
I really can’t wait to start on my synergy series! @___@ Messing around with these teams again has reminded me why these synergies are so strong and it never makes Spidey boring to mess around with!!!
