The ULTIMATE, Friendly-Neigborhood, Spider-man Team-building Thread

I honestly think the synergy is a worse version of Spidey-Dormammu, since you can get the hyper combo loop by doing Maximum Spider DHC Round Harvest Raw Tag -repeat-. Trish’s assists don’t really provide any combo extension, with Low Voltage and Hopscotch being the only ones that can barely extend combos (and by barely, I mean they allow you to link Web Zip into Maximum Spider…).

However, there is some synergy that the duo may possibly provide, and it works since you want Wesker on the back. Due to the ground bouncing, hard knockdown nature of the Spider Bite follow-up to Spider Sting, there might be enough time to Round Harvest and raw tag back into Spidey to set up a free unblockable with Wesker’s Samurai Edge assist. If it works, there may be two issues:

  1. It will be a tight window, running the risk of you performing it too late and giving the opponent the chance to either hit you out of it or the chance to jump and chicken guard the hyper.
  2. Raw tagging Trish in while the opponent is ground bouncing may cause the hit to connect, forcing the opponent to recover way earlier than you would prefer.

I personally despise Trish, since one of my friends plays a pretty nasty one here, so I’d really not try to brainstorm any more on the idea of her teamed with Spidey.

Thanks for the tips Airborne, I will give those a shot. Also thanks for the tips on Spidey/Dante, gives me a general direction to work with.

I’d thank Richard Nguyen for the Spidey/Dante stuff; none of us had any idea that you could extend a combo by *that *much using raw tags until his swag combo came along. @___@

actually i knew for a while that raw taggin w/ spidey was very possible, i just didn’t know how long dante combos could be applied the same way ;D

And you clearly didn’t read my post well enough. /cranky

because i did stuff w/ doom!! like… lv3! and foootdiveses

And I did OTG Grapple, j.:s: Armor Piercer xx Bionic Maneuvers.

Edit: Which led to the DHC glitch.

-back in the lab and thought process for 3rd for my spidey deadpool. thanks again to airborne and manji yesterday for advise and showing me a few things to consider and think about. but in the end… i want have FUN then win, so doom is still a consideration but he is on the bench for now lol.

work permitting i should be able to get off earlier to hit up xanadu a couple times or saturdays at the least…but dont expect much. i’m still pretty free

I actually play that team but in this order SM/Doom/DP

i played with katana-rama assist for the UWT set ups as well, but as soon as i had solo UWT set-ups down then i switched to quickwork assist for unblockables with Spidey and Doom. if you just do the usual Spidey bnb and end with Spidey Sting -> Spider Bite -> s.H (during the ground bounce) you can cancel into UWT. i find this version better since the s.H pushes you back far enough so that your opponent cant just tech forward and jab you in the air.

i also have some set ups for Deadpool point and Spidey 2nd that are somewhat dirty! for example, if you do the usual magic series with Deadpool and end with the “chimmichanga” wall bounce, just hit s.H and cancel into “Cutting Time”. the super wont hit so your opponent will air recover, however once Deadpool is about to cross under your opponent, DHC into Spidey’s UWT. due to it being a DHC, there is a 0-frame start-up thus your opponent cant escape and will take the full damage and if you can combo after the UWT (web-zip OTG combos) you can dish some serious damage that is worth the 2 bars of meter used.

i really enjoy playing this team and find that they all work together well enough, but it is true that Spidey-Deadpool aren’t as good as Spidey-Doom or Doom-Deadpool… but the synergy isn’t non-existant.

please dont play Wesker, we already have enough of Wesker players online :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit sorry i didnt see that you said DORM, i thought you said Doom! however Spider and Dorm do work well together and i assume that Deadpool and Dorm also work well together.

It’s funny because I actually play Doom also (though not too well admittedly). That “Cutting Time” into UWT is pretty dirty. Never even crossed my mind. Good shit.

I’ve been playing Spidey/Doom/Ammy for awhile now and I’ve been thinking- if you must have Spidey and Doom on your team, Ammy is almost clearly the best choice for a third character. Cold Star is a great assist for Spidey which sets up lockdown for webzip/spider sting overheads. More importantly, Ammy makes Doom a lot better by giving him lockdown assist and a full screen, potential game winning THC. The only shell that is arguably better than Doom/Ammy is Doom/Sent, but Ammy is by far a better anchor than Sent.

I’ve had problems for a long time against players who lvl 1 X-factor to kill Spidey. Now with Doom/Ammy behind him its become a lot easier to come back after something like that happens. (Note: I refuse to run Spidey/X/Doom because I think Doom is a terrible anchor to get a comeback with). I think I’ve seen one player in the tier list thread talking about Spidey/Doom/Ammy, but not so much here, so I wonder what everyone thinks.

Doom/Ammy is the only time I legitimately think Doom is scary, mostly on welcome mixup. That THC is real dumb too :stuck_out_tongue:

K, so… 'nother day… 'nother team. XDD

Spidey/Nova/Akuma

I couldn’t stand playing a Frank team because it lacked the ability to do one of my favorite things in the game: resets. Although resets were quite easy to set up with Spidey/Frank/Nova, it was just too high of a cost to create a reset, knowing that one mistake could result in me playing level 1 Frank versus the the world (which i was purdy good at, but I’d rather not risk it).

Another thing that Frank teams generally lack is to work with two points (although my team was capable of running Nova/Frank/Spidey, since I’m confident with assist-less Spidey) so I’m perfectly fine going Nova/Spidey/Akuma as well, especially against Morrigan-on-point teams.

…Oh yeah, and most important, Akuma is really fun to play.

my current team im working on is just spider/doom/strider and it’s fun. an assist that flies around in tandem with a character that flies around.

Hi guys. I’ll finally be getting back into MvC this weekend. My copy of Ultimate will be here tomorrow and I’ll start playing on Saturday. I’m trying to decide what team I want to use in Ultimate, but I know I want to carry over my Spidey/Ammy combi. In Vanilla, I ran Dante with this team and got good results online and offline (though I still haven’t made it to any majors, lol). I’m thinking about using Spidey/Strider/Ammy, Spidey/Ammy/Nova, or Spidey/Tron/Ammy. I have some other team ideas, but these are the ones I’m seriously considering atm. Any suggestions with these teams or any cons to using these teams you can come up with? Your input would help me a lot.

spidey doom ammy
doom ammy thc is bonkers
spidey with missiles is bonkers for damage and just for certain matchups

strider has low damaging dhc’s
ammy nova is weird, you may like it but i’ve never seen it before.
tron is a bad character oooooooo, personally i think tron needs a team centered around her

I’ll probably just mess around with Spidey/Tron/Ammy since I agree that Tron is better with a team centered around her. I was thinking of using Vajra assist with Strider to knock airborne opponents into a web throw confirm, but having low damage on DHCs may be a problem. Not sure what I was going to do with Nova yet, just kinda want to throw him on a team with those two, haha.

Welcome (back), OmnixAisuno! Spidey/Ammy is still a powerful duo in the current version of the game. Since you have a strong lockdown assist, you’ll probably want someone with an assist that provides either strong space control or strong air control. It would also help if the character can greatly benefit from THC’ing with Ammy. Dante provides a very unique synergy to Spider-man that requires you to be able to raw tag after a ground bouncing spider sting->spider bite and build a total of 2 bars in the entire combo (1 from Spidey, 1 from Dante). I can’t quite recall how Richard Nguyen built an entire bar with the Dante side of the combo (which *really *sucks because that video is no longer on Youtube!!! T___T), but Raoh has a video or two up of some proof of concept combos on his Youtube channel (you can find his channel in his signature… I believe he generally posts in the combo thread frequently, but you may be able to find him in this thread as well). I’ve been learning Dante on and off lately, so I may finally get around to constructing a combo that builds one meter with him after raw tagging from Spidey. I have a lot on my plate right now in terms of projects (3 whole video series and learning Akuma to be exact), so it may be a little while before I get around to it. =\

As for your other teams, here’s what I have to say:
-Spidey/Strider/Ammy may not work as well because although Spidey can benefit greatly from siding with these two characters, Spidey is a bit too fragile to be babysitting a Strider in the second slot, and the DHC’s from Spidey to Strider aren’t that strong. If you decide on this team, I’d suggest Spidey/Ammy/Strider.

-Spidey/Ammy/Nova would have a lot more potential if you ran Ammy on the anchor slot, so that you can run a 2-point, 1-assist team. Spidey-Nova are very interchangeable when they’re collectively in the first two slots of a team, providing you two strong options to consider for certain match-ups. Their DHC’s to and from each other are powerful, each giving the other a nice boost in damage to tack on at the end of each of their respective combos. Nova’s Centurion Rush assist, being an overhead attack that provides an *indefinite *ground bounce on airborne characters, is not only a strong counter hitter, combo extender, space control, and minor air control, but it also provides Spidey with a nasty 50/50 setup off of ground resets where the opponent must make a dire choice between remaining grounded and taking an unblockable, or chicken guarding and eating an Ultimate Web Throw. I have a crapton more I can write about Spidey-Nova, but that’s for another time that I continually procrastinate upon.

-Spidey/Tron/Ammy… I really don’t know jack about Tron, so I don’t have anything to talk about here. =\ I could see it working though!

If you’re looking for some other potential characters to fit that second character slot, here’s some ideas:
-Dr. Doom (Plasma Beam or Missiles)
-Iron Man (Unibeam or Repulsor Blast)
-Magneto (EMP Disruptor)
-Sentinel (Sentinel Force)
-Vergil (Rapid Slash)
-Ryu (Tatsu)
-Spencer (Slant Grapple)
-Storm (Whirlwind)
-Hawkeye (Greyhound)
-Hulk (Gamma Wave or Anti-Air Gamma Charge)
-Thor (Mighty Spark or Mighty Smash)
-Rocket Raccoon (Pendulum)

These are off the top of my head, so there’s definitely a ton of other characters that can finish that team strongly for you.

If you have any more questions on other possible teams, you know where to find us!!!

That novel!

Wow, thanks for all the feedback Airborne! I’m leaning towards Spidey/Nova/Ammy over the others for my new Ultimate team. As for other characters, I used Ryu, IM, and Spencer with Spidey in Vanilla and did pretty decently, so I might experiment with them a little bit more. For Tron…hmm…I had thought about using Tron because of her Gustaf Fire, which I could use as a “get off me” if need be. I also had some good synergy with that team back in Vanilla, so I guess I’ll just have to try it again. If all else fails or I just end up wanting to go back to Dante, I’ll just revert back to my Spider-Man/Dante/Amaterasu team. Again, thanks for all your input!
