The opponent needs to be launched for the knockdown S to work. Otherwise it’ll just be like a normal attack.
I did a full air combo with my first character before the dhc. Isn’t that acceptable?
If the opponent hits the floor, the launch has to connect again.
Okay so I know dorm is considered one of the best second slot characters in the game, but how does he fair as a point character ? Can he match up with the other top tier point characters in the game ? What exactly gives dorm a lot of trouble ?
wow well we have completely different play styles but i do like some of the suggestions you made here thanx for the input! imo zoning with dorm is easy but inefficient stalking flare and purification are super punishable and his ground game like doom is limited due to the way he leaves the ground on a normal dash tridash with L is amazing and i do need to do that more as well as not teleporting every time I use dark matter but as far as the way you described footsies, i dont know if you have an xbox or a ps3 but the online on a ps3 makes confirming off a random M or L almost impossible not to mention you cant bait you opponent into attacking and make split second punishes or anything like that maybe the reason i dont try to do these things is because online is all ive ever played this game and as much as i hate it, its all i got. but liberation is fantastic for zoning especially meteors but other than countering/trading hits i wont use it for zoning and chip strings because its such a waste of good damage and meter building potential, IMO his rushdown and combos are some of the most damaging and creative parts of the game since they are almost always ToD and build at least a meter if you have full charges and i dont understand how you say “how most people use him” because all i ever see is keep away with 2blue 1red stalking flare liberation random dark matter and the occasional bnb if you do have a ps3 please fight me i would like to compare styles… and again thanks for the advice!
They have to be in an air combo and you save the spike for dormammu, dont let them hit the ground and dont finish the combo with the first character
Dorm has to both rush and zone, if you ask me. Doing completely rush or completely zone just limits his entire character. Of course, there are certain matchups where you can’t just rush (i.e. Hulk/Haggar) and where you can’t just zone (i.e. Hawkeye/Strange).
He’s good at the start of the round, but he does have problems when going against a Wolverine (or any other rushdown maniac) since they won’t give you any space. You better have some sort of GTFO assist if you’re going to start Dorm on point.
Knowing when to stop zoning and start rushing down is something that cant really be taught , you can only gain it from experience .Finding a masterful balance is something I hope to achieve. Some of the best at this are players like Eddie lee , who i personally think has the best Dorm in the world. But yes a balance between zoning/ rushdown of course goes without saying , and match ups also on top of that also force-change’s your style depending on who u have to fight.
I played like 20 games straight against Eddie, his Dorm is the real deal. He has a lockdown sequence with Doom beam that’s reminiscient of mvc2 Sentinal lockdown. Also Morrigan harmonizer to get those stalking flares ready anytime.
Who is Eddie?
I love the Dark Harmonizer with Dormammu. I’ve tried a lot of setups, and I just can’t give up Stalking Flare or Chaotic Flame whenever the hell I want. Was it a good choice at the time? It doesn’t even matter, because I already have another bar saved up in the next 5 seconds.
Eddie is a dormammu player, if you wana see him play just type his name into youtube he was in curleh mustache
The OG and East Coast “lamer”, Eddie Lee. Picking up Morrigan is a good choice for him. Wonder how his Morrigan play is like?
It was only a matter of time before Eddie played some sort of Morrigan team. Its the closest thing to MVC2 lockdown (and Dorm/Doom and Doom/Sent are the next thing after that). Good to know, although he needs to show up to some more tournaments and school some fools!
hi dorm is cool <3
^Dormammu seems to fit well with people who like to use big body type characters. I think its the hefty weight and momentum behind his movement. Jan the zangief player does well with his haggar/Dorm/Sent team and I know someone else whos into big body grappler archetypes (uses Potemkin, Jack and Gief) and uses Hulk/Haggar/Dorm.
team bigboy v2 is way better than v1
Eh, that’s not really why I play Dormammu. I do tend toward heavies, but I really like is characters that have tons of screen control and can be a threat from a wide variety of situations. I also like teleporters, air dashers, and characters with long term gameplans. It’s like Dormammu was made for me or something, he’s a dream come true.
Anyway, I can’t find any videos of Eddie Lee using Dormammu/Morrigan. Lots of other videos, though. If anyone has a link, I’d love to see it since he uses 2/3 of my team, and I always like to see how other players handle things.
Well Dorm isnt a traditional big body character in that sense and his tools are the exact opposite of a grappler but I do see players who like that archetype do well with him and it got me thinking as to why that is.
He told me he picked up Morrigan recently. All video footage of him has Haggar instead. His Morrigan is pretty damn good, mix of rushdown and keep away and I was surprised how well he converted hit confirms into full flight cancel combos while on psn. He didn’t go bullet hell on me though…maybe cause he didn’t need it.
If you want to see his Morri, just ask him for some games, pm me for his IGN.
Is he anchoring her? Because it seems like Dorm/Doom/Morrigan would be the best order for him.
