Quick Question
For my new team of Dorm / Deadpool / Doom , is that the right team order?
If you’re using Doom with Missiles, then that’s probably the best order.
I don’t know when Karsticles plans on updating the OP, but I found out something cool. Ammy/Dorm synergy just got a boost: it turns out that Okami Shuffle → Stalking Flare is a viable combo ender if you DHC before the final lightning bolt knocks them back down. I’m tempted to run Zak Bennett’s team with Dorm on Liberation assist now, since both characters now have a reliable way to build him charges.
Yes, super-jump cancel S into QCB + H. Basically, after S, do :qcb::ub: + :h:
Which is better for Dormammu? Plasma beam or hidden missiles?
That greatly depends on your third teammate. If your third character is someone who has a good teleport, then Beam all the way. If he/she has good air mobility and can spam fast projectiles, then Missiles.
My third teammate is deadpool so it could go either way. Are missiles more beneficial to dormammu?
Ok, after playing a lot of Dormammu, I figured out that the biggest issue I’ve had with my Dormammu played is that I was not playing patiently. As soon as I played patiently, my Dormammu play rivaled that of characters I have played for months!
Anyway, I feel like my team of Dormammu/Deadpool/Doom does not optimize Dorm well enough. The team has its flaws. Dormammu is nearly helpless for the first five seconds of every match which is a huge issue.
What team with Dormammu and Doom would be the optimal team?
I have been trying Doom/Dormammu/Sentinel which has been even better, but anchor Sentinel makes the team flawed.
The best possible team, in my opinion, seems to be Dorm/Mags/Doom , but would there be a better option? My Mags is terrible so it would be great to learn a character with a small learning curve that would perfectly fit the team.
Thanks!
I’m stuck in the same situation when it comes to Dorm/Doom. I believe that the Dorm/Doom duo need their third character to provide them a “get off me” lockdown assist.
There are notable characters that have those types of assists: Haggar, Akuma, Amaterasu, Dante.
Dorm/Haggar/Doom is an INSANELY fun team that I enjoyed testing. Lariat helps in the start of the match. The only problem is Haggar can be zoned out, even if he’s backed up by Beam. Anchor Doom is solid, but don’t expect him to clean up an entire team by himself if it comes to that.
I’ve been testing Dorm/Doom/Akuma. Tatsu is freaking awesome for both Dorm/Doom since it nullifies your opponent’s projecitles. It can be used defensively and offensively. Doom on 2nd looks to be the best for him since you get to abuse his great assists while giving him a great assist to rushdown, which he needs. Akuma makes far better use of XF3 than Doom since beam chip > finger laser chip and has a easier time getting in with demon flips and Tatsus.
Dorm/Doom/Ammy is actually interesting because Cold Star is arguably the best assist for Doom’s rushdown (though Drones is also considered the best for Doom by some). Cold Star also helps Dorm’s mixup game as well. However, I don’t know great the assist’s “get off me” qualities are because of how good it is for rushdown. XF3 Ammy is absolutely insane in XF3 with meter and that speed increase though.
Dorm/Doom/Dante is pretty good since Jam Session helps out both. Plus, XF3 Dante + Devil Trigger = have fun guessing. I would try this trio, but I can’t Bold cancel for the life of me.
Dorm/Mag/Doom is a solid team though. Mag and Missiles is very good.
I need to experiment with shadow blade as a gtfo assist for Dorm at the beginning of the round. Right now I’m using the meter building assist for morrigan.
Cheech, regarding Shadow Blade assist, you can treat it as Jill’s Somersault if you use it as an invincible CC. Land it, cancel into Flight, then proceed to combo if it hits.
It also allows for OTG THC ender since the super will be Shadow Servant.
Yeah I know the combo possibilities it has. I just want to know if it really works as a get off me assist in real matches.
I wish there was a way to simulate the start of the round stare down in training mode. Theres so many things that factor into the stare downs and you can only test them in real matches with humans.
It seems like the best way to do that is to find a training partner using the 2P side to spar with in training mode.
I think the best way to rectify dormammu problem to start the round is to put him second what options are there for that with doom?
That’s why I mentioned Akuma or Haggar for their assists. Lariat is still good. Eddie Lee has used it to protect his point Dorm.
I still play Dorm on anchor. I like to use three destruction for combos rather than meteors for the randomizing effect.
I would also agree that Dorm has it much, much easier being second. For me it’s nice because Wolverine’s intimidating at the beginning and has a multiple solid options.
With Dorm being second the team focus shifts to him as well I feel. He can move to point after a DHC and dominate from there, or stay second after your 1st has died and then possibly move to 3rd. In 2nd he seems to switch around a lot, which is good because he’s one of the characters who can function well in each spot.
Given that he also provides top notch DHCs to get out, he allows Wolverine to do things like making the opponent block while tagging their assist, like Sent Drones or Doom Missiles, with a B. Barrage H xx B. Barrage X DHC to Stalking Flare. And if you start a hyper to get your point out, you can see during the frame freeze if they were vulnerable and either do Flare or Flame from there and possibly blow up and assist, akin to Storm except 3 frames instead of 1. That kind of utility is very valuable IMO, which I feel is not capitalised upon often enough if he’s started on point.
I played Dorm with shadow blade assist yesterday against real people and it was really good. Way better than meter build assist.
Its a get out of jail free card at the beginning of the round basically because the shadow blade will blow through all assists and point character approaches meaning dorm can get to a safe position. Because of the angle morrigan hits them, you cant get much off of it but you can combo a light/medium pillar. Then I’d just cancel that into stalker flare and start my hidden missiles/2D1C zoning.
Just laying down flame carpet+shadow blade assist at the same time, created this wall that my opponent couldnt do anything about. It was really beautiful. Using the assist reminds me alot of MVC2 with invincible Cable and Ken uppercut assists. After morrigans pushed them out you can get a free pillar for chip and the assist generally just gives you some breathing room with Dorm.
Apart from that you also get the invincible team super with morrigans uppercut super. Didnt use that much but that can only be a good thing considering its invincible and probably comes out really quick as it is a team hyper.
Everything else I said about the team Dorm/Morrigan/Doom still applies, but I definitely think you need shadow blade and not dark harmoniser. Dorm is way too hard to play on point without an invincible assist. Haggars is better than morrigans assist in some cases but overall Dorm/Morridoom is alot more solid than Dorm Haggar Doom. You can take the match in alot more directions and morridoom is way more fun.
Other than that I agree with everyone saying Dorms best spot is 2nd. Stalker flare just resets any bad situation you are in and Dorm can come in at an advantage, as opposed to the beginning of the round where he is at a disadvantage with people in his face and abusing his big hurtbox.
I wonder if Shadow Blade allowed for extended combo opportunities and had super armor (like Hulk’s AA), would it be more popular than using Dark Harmonizer?
I’m starting to think of Tatsu as a great space clearer since if you’re quick enough while Tatsu hits, you can throw out Dark Matter xx Dark Matter xx Dark Hole/Purification xx Stalking Flare.
Starting off with a great point who has a good/great assist, build meter, then DHCing into Dormammu Stalking Flare to give him space and two assists sounds like a great idea.
I’m wondering who would fit that role because it sounds like Zero (everyone’s favorite S tier) could transition very well into Dorm. I been hearing Ryuenjin is great as an space-controlling anti-air assist and especially in Sougenmu mode.
So then you are suggesting an X / Dorm / Akuma team?
Zero / Dorm / Akuma sounds so broken lol.
