the UK fighting game scene

You guys shouldn’t complain, because in the U.S. arcades are dead also, the only place arcades will stay alive is japan. Theirs no point going to the arcades online play is the way to go. Sad but true. Anyway what kind of computers do you use over their? And any of you think Are you being survived? Or Red Dwarf is any good?

^ It’s kind of dumb to say that we should accept how it is here because the situation is just as bad in the US.

I’d seriously be up for an SRK get-together at the Troc. I will get DESTROYED as I really suck (result of only have one friend and the CPU to play against), but it should be fun regardless, and a great opportunity to improve my game. Maybe if the first one goes well, it could even become a regular thing?

I know but complaining wont help anything. Nor bring back the arcades. The only major arcade event here is evo.

But if it wasn’t for the complainging we wouldn’r be that little step closer to getting somthing together.

Maybe there should be some sort of SFUK mailing list, and any details of any UK tournament could be sent to everyone on the list?

As for London people, I think someone should name a time and a date for everyone to meet up and play. Most of us will get raped by the troc regulars, but you have to start somewhere, and if a regular meet can be arranged then your at least on the way to reviving a scene.

That’s a good idea. Im up for it anytime.

haha i remember that, ‘hillia’ instead of ‘millia’ right?

also watch out people i might be able to organise a 3s tourney at my uni, dont get too excited though cause it might not happen.

p.s. sheng u battyman i didn’t know u posted here! can i come to your bedroom tourney plz

Abominus was the first gestalt I actually completed (a.i. getting enough money to buy all the terrorcons) as a kid, that’s probaly why he’s my favorite gestalt. aahhh memories…
BTW I recently picked up the missing stunticon to finally complete Menasor after all these years :karate:
Oh crap i’m going off-topic again

Street Fighter UK Yahoo Group

Ok UK people, I’ve just started a Street Fighter UK Yahoo group, imaginatively called, Street Fighter UK

I’ll post any UK tournament information to the group, so if you are on the list, you’ll get an occasional email with all details like time, date and location for any tournament, as well as results of tournaments when they are completed. I’ve called the group Street Fighter UK, but it will also have information on all fighting games in the arcades such as Guilty Gear, Tekken 5 and VF.

You can go to the groups home page:
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/streetfighteruk/
to view all messages from the begining, as well edit options, such as how may email are sent to you from the group.

To Subscribe to the list, just send an email to: streetfighteruk-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

If you want to leave the list at any time, all you have to do is send another email to
Unsubscribe: streetfighteruk-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com

Anyone can join and anyone can post to the group. If you want to post a message, such as details of a forthcoming tournament, send a message to:
streetfighteruk@yahoogroups.com

Obviously now all we need are a few tournaments to give the group a purpose :xeye:

Thanks man. I’ve sent my email address to the link you given. I dont know if you’ve got all you need to subscribe me, I only sent my email address, is that ok? Hope to hear from you sometime soon.

awesome GG,another step towards getting uk sf heads together!!

Was talking to my mum about this earlier (yeah, really, heh) and she suggested that a good idea would be to get something set up with the Troc management as far as regular, organized play goes. Maybe it’s too excessive, seeing as many people won’t be able to make it there regularly, but if the management see an opportunity to make cash, they might be more receptive as regards helping you promote tournaments or a league to new players.

I also second the “let’s just decide on a damn date” request, hah. I asked my friends today, and they’re all up for going to London for a few days for some SF action :karate:.

sorry to sound like a hater, but no no no. while that sounds good and productive in theory… troc staff are bastards. that includes treatment of players and such, which ALSO includes mutual set-ups for playing organized events.
fortnightly 3s tournaments used to be run there, but i know troc staff weren’t helpful in the slightest. ct crew know whats up with that

This group thing is a waste of time. Any upcomming tournaments will be advertised on cornertrap.net or shoryuken.com.

I dont know what you guys want, But the arcades are there..its the players that the arcades are missing. There is great arcades all over the uk.

Manchester - Jennys
Jennys has most of the popular fighting games, including alpha 3 , cvs2, tekken tag, Tekken 4, super street fighter 2 turbo,

Sheffield - Namco Meadow hall shopping centre.
Also has alpha 3, svc, Tekken 5,

Nottingham - Namco
Has Tekken 5, alpha 3, kof2002,

Luton - Namco
Has tekken 5, cvs2, 3rd strike,

Thats just the ones I know about, I am sure there are more… but maybe not as good. These arcades have some of the best players uk has to offer. So it`s not just london. Am sure most of you can make your way to at lest one of these arcades as they are all pritty much spread throughout the uk.

Ah, damn :(.

Who were you missing? I only had Drag Strip  Motormaster was badass!

SAY WHAT???

Seriously Chunkis, where’s this Jennys that you speak of? It’s not some Ghetto backwater is it

Cornertrap went down once before, before it’s revival. SRK seems fine now, but even it had it’s problems whilst the forums were being upgraded. I agree that the two sites you mentioned are basically the main sources of information in the UK, but having an email with all the neccessary information sent to you is a nice bonus. It’s not intended to replace anything, just compliment two already very good sites.

i wouldn’t go here unless you want to get mugged, abused and gods knows wot else, but being from watford i guess i have a somewhat biased view. Also don’t they marry their cousins there?

jennys is ghetto in manchester (i only saw cvs2 last time i was there and a a few random vs games)

London troc is the place to be if you are serious about playing games. I went to absolution last year and got my ass handed to me on a plate but despite all the tournaments probs i enjoyed it (and learnt valuable lessons lol). I live pretty damn far from london but i sure as heck wouldnt mind goin down again as soon as i hear word of any tournaments happening.

Non-london bums need to start thinking with a POSITIVE attitude, its not all doom and gloom.

come down, get your ass kicked and then think about whether you are still dedicated enough to practice and come again.

When youre going to shoot, shoot, dont talk.
