Most g2 even g1 turtle are not that good or suck. Those turtle shells are easy to crack if you mix up and make them guess. You will get alot of hate mail.
Being forced to hang back and bait DPs to progress in G3 does not lead to knowledge of how to mount an offense in G2? Boy, i did NOT see that coming.
RTSD. At all times.

If you don’t want to end up like that, you could try mastering a character like Abel or Zangief (especially Abel).
Wow, that Honda vs Honda fight has just made my day. It was that epic guys
Scrub mentality?
Also, off topic, watch Ip Man, a movie loosely based on Bruce Lee’s grand master’s life. They make real good use of zoning and spacing!
I main Bison too and all I face are turtles. I’ve even fought Bison turtles as well, which disgusted me.
It’s really annoying. Not annoying because I can’t handle it, it’s just fucking boring to have to chase someone down like that. I win most of my matches against turtles these days, only losing maybe 5-10% of the time.
My favourite part would have to be realizing they are a turtle/runner, getting the health advantage on them, and giving them a taste of their own medicine. It’s hilarious to watch them let the clock run down while they have the life deficit, then scramble to chip me when they realize I’m not gonna play their fucking “chase me” game. They don’t know what to do when someone isn’t pursuing them and just panic… poor saps
I loooooooooooove sending a message afterwards taunting them about it too. Fuckers.
More or less frustration than “scrub mentality”. It’s simply tiring having to chase someone down and it is truly mind boggling when they CONTINUE to run even though they don’t have the advantage. I know I’ve learned to get around all that bullshit, so it just wastes my time.
Fuck, PC is the worst for runners I swear.
the second round of that game was actually awesome though.
Play sakura, nobody turtles against sakura.
because she’s a punching bag
clearly you’ve never played in g2.
I love it when I finally catch up to them and mess them up before they can run away again. Then all their taunts become meaningless in an instant
To counter turtles, a to-the-point-option is playing Sagat and/or Akuma (fireball war/saftey for run-away rush down and combo damage).
but only if you are actually any good at zoning/turtling yourself…otherwise you are likely to lose this way too.
@ Wikum: I agree, and to play a sole zoner is terribly difficult at higher levels as most top level players have stated, and I feel the same way.
Basically, a real zoner has to keep you in a zone which is their defense/offense/“safe zone” to be at their potential. They are either zoning or not zoning you. If you can get inside someone’s zone or can’t then that decides the match–however, if zoners get mixed-up or get their bubble penetrated (yah, lol) then it takes a good player to reset the condition.
a thread titled “the over aggressive player’s punishment” would go very well with this one
dont call them turtlers, call them camper noobs, camping is for ppl without balls in real life
Yeah, I really hate it when dudes camp with sniper rifles. No balls bro.
what does this have to do with sf4?
I see your point though, socom is notorious for that.
But on that note, It is a strategy, one that is too good in sf4.
Hope they get rid of it somehow.
If it were “too good” then you’d see large-scale success with it at high levels of play. Granted, there are some characters that are more defensive/keepaway oriented. But to say that turtling is “too good” … well, there’s a word for that kind of attitude.
