The TTT2 General Discussion thread

How did AO win SBO with Alisa…did he do it through obscurity, just being a way better player or does he know something that makes her good? He also beat JDCR in the finals.

Yep this is right both these characters can shine with a heavy hitter. I wouldn’t run either on point though. Also they both have a weak OKI game IMO.

Ao won because he is just the superior player that day. He got 1p and knows a ton about the game and plays inhumanly fast. Plus Migs and Alisa is a good duo for both, as they compliment each other in almost any TA situation.

EDIT: Also the format is pretty random, plus JDCR played solo AK which was just strange…since he mostly plays AK/HEI but whatever. Alisa is not bad, I wouldn’t go that far to say that. It’s jsut that other characters can play virtually the same game and just get so much more mileage. Playstlyes in this game do not very to an extent that warrants a drastic change in the players mind set, so using one character over the other is easy to justify.

Can someone tell me why there’s no item for me to purchase?:S

I just bought the game few weeks and completed the arcade mode for the first time but when I go to customisation, it says I have no item to purchase? Is there some else I need to do?

Ok so I still don’t know what I’m doing in this game…

So people told me that Lars is a good partner for Alisa or Zafina. Why would he be good with them as opposed to some other characters? I kind of like Lars so maybe it can work out. Also which character should be first and why? I’m still not clear on a number of things.

Lars does well on his own, can break turtling down pretty well, adds a lot to pretty much every other character combo-wise and he’s easy as shit to learn + use compared to much of the cast. Alisa/Zaf is fine though, it’s not optimal but it’s still plenty workable if you’re fine with a dedicated focus on turtling. Unlike a lot of characters Alisa can get a full combo off of Zaf CH stuff into WS 2,1~5 for red life damage (Though I’m sure Lars also can), so there’s certainly some synergy with the team. I also wouldn’t say Zafina doesn’t hit hard, yeah she doesn’t get much off d/f2 without walls or every random hit but CHs and/or walls lead to pretty damn good damage, and if they don’t deal with d3 well then that’ll certainly add up. On the other end Alisa uses early bound for a couple of launchers (Her u/f4,4 hopkick and b3+4,3+4) which helps Zafina be useful for TA b/c of her stance stuff. Beyond that there isn’t much but that’s more of an issue with Alisa having pretty crappy taggable launchers. She just typically won’t get much out of other characters as much as they will with her, but it’s not a huge deal since she works fine on her own even being bottom tier in this game and she’s a good partner for other characters.

As for team order, for a starting point put whichever character would you rather have rage second. Beyond that the decision is esoteric enough that might be best to just wait on heavy strategy and just mess around with order until you have a better understanding of basics, as well as what your characters are capable of both by themselves, together, and against the rest of the 50+ cast.

Emil you can’t learn this game “quick” you can’t even understand this game quick, take it from me. My advice is just pick characters you like at this point, Alisa/Zaf is fine as they are fairly easy, and just mess around with combos movement …etc. Don’t try to conceptualize everything yet, just get a feel for the game. Situational combos, throw breaks, punishment, movement(which is really an abstract) and the game will start to fall into place, at least conceptually.

As for Lars, he is just a fairly easy character that has no weakness. He also helps any team with combos.

I’m looking to picking this game up and taking it more seriously. Which top players or Koreans play Steve/Lili/Dragunov in TTT2 so I can study them?

Thanks.

people starting out shouldnt try mishimas ether
they are completely dependent on movement to create 50/50s and EWGF
both of which take months/years to get down consistently
you will get whooped if you lack those tools

wang is good though
or paul or forest law

quick question, can someone tell me how to do the tag in attack when you get knockdown? or do I need to be knocked down to use it?

^It’s 2+5, or triangle+R1 if you’re not familar with terminology. And yes, you have to be knocked down to get the tag crash but you lose rage.

For Steve:

Nin
Dasalgi
Bohee
MYK
FightingSpirit
Knee (sometimes)

Probably others I’m forgetting.

Could anyone with a sizable amount of experience with this game make an “ease-of-use” chart or something? It would help with a lot of these “should I use X” questions.

Not sure what you’re asking for. Usually each character board has a top 10 moves(you should be using) and then there’s this:

If you want some ideas on characters. Regarding ease of use, Mishimas are held high up in that regard because of EWGF(Kazuya and his 13f EWGF).

No, I mean like a “Beginner-Friendly Characters” section, a “Obscenely Difficult Characters to Play” section, etc. Mostly because I keep hearing mixed opinions on whether or not Mishimas are beginner-friendly or not.

That thread goes over each character and their ease of use/learning curve. Mishimas have never been considered easy/beginner friendly.

Sorry mate, I derped pretty hard there. Thanks, that’s what I was looking for.

What makes someone a bad Jun player? What makes someone a good Jun player?

Spamming D+B, 4 and F+2.

I have another question, how do you unlock all the movies in theatre mode? Do I just keep beating arcade mode? I’m also quite disappointed in the limited number of options on customisation mode. In T6 you can purchase the items in different colours and now it seems that’s gone? I hope it’s not because Namco is trying to get people to spend more money by purchase the additional services online:(
