I mean why should someone tell you when you do whatever you want?
I don’t mean it like that. I meant like having a guide as where to start off and how to approach using particular moves. I’m not saying that every character must be played in some specific way.
Characters do have their strengths and weaknesses though, and can be better at certain playstyles than others, for instance apparently Alisa has some good defensive tools and not so many good offensive tools, so it makes sense to say that you’re better off playing more defensively with her.
Not saying every character has set optimum strategies they must always do, but some do lean towards certain styles or have styles which they are notably bad at, that is what we are talking about here.
Anyway, Kuma, some good information on certain character’s strengths which you might find useful has kindly been posted in the thread below

That’s what LUYG does… Rip does a marvelous job showing each character’s strengths. That’s what players really need. In fact, sometimes it even hinders you from playing a character creatively because sometimes people tend to stick with the “best moves” and not explore the whole movelist.
And look… Have you ever watched Valle play King and AK? He’s still improving… But when you look at his playstyle, you see that he plays the kings in a very different non-standard way. Yet you can see that he could win matches if he knows how to capitalize some mistakes (which comes from experience, that will come on time). That’s what we’re saying here. You can play each character as you see it fit. Namco can’t really make some sort of character tutorial because of that. Maybe a player can see this move as something with great potential when others deem it useless. It all depends on the player. If you’re creative/observant enough, you could discover uses for each move depending on what moves you got.
What I would really love is a bigger buffer window
Don’t get me wrong, I think TTT2 is already really easy, I mean unlike VF every newcomer can pick up the game and beat the crap out of each other.
And the rage makes it also alot easier (not really a fan of rage tho)
I just don’t see no harm in making the buffer windows bigger, kinda like the buffer window of VF.
The only thing it will do, is help you in punishing people/finishing your combos more consistently.
 I guess the only problem with that is that Tekken doesn’t have a way (to my knowledge) to clear the buffer window like VF does.
Make it bigger without any way to clear it and people will whine about attacks coming out that should have been something else.
Hm it makes sense, u can use the guard button in VF to clear your buffer windows.
The buffer window in Tekken right now is 3 frames if I’m not mistaking, if they simply increased it to 7 frames (like in VF), then that means you have a window of 7 frames to register your inputs.
Cause it happens sometimes that I do my 1, 2 punish too early and whenever I’m done guarding my opponent only does a 2.
Or with Paul when I’m juggling my opponent and want to bound him with b+1, 2 I get b+2. This happens a lot when I get sudden lag sparks. But it is frustrating and I can’t help but wonder if increasing the buffer window wouldn’t help this problem.
I don’t drop my combos or fail to punish that often in VF, only in Tekken >.>
Your clone argument is straight BS. And that’s exactly what should happen-- there should either King, or A.King, but not both. I understand TTT2 is a dream match game, but look at this roster of 59 characters. This list could very easily be cut down to 30.
There needs to Christie OR Eddy with the other as an alt costume. Panda and Kuma don’t need their own slots. Characters such as Violet, Miharu, Panda, Tiger etc etc should be palette swaps only, and some characters (Wang? Baek?) should simply be retired until TTT3.
The DLC is out , from what I tested Miharu is a palette swap from Xiaoyu , Slim Bob a palette swap from Bob and Sebastian a palette swap for lili? Any real changes or are they really just palette swaps?
Quick question, but, can anyone with the PS3 version tell me if Online World Arena keeps record of your Win/Loss ratio like ranked or leave that out like player match?
Not sure about the others but Miharu definitely has unique moves Xiaoyu does not have

What are you basing this on? Their appearance or their actual gameplay?
They play nothing alike. I’m pretty sure they only share 2 or 3 moves.
Sebastian has launch off of db+3 and lili’s f+1+2 is not in his move set. Not an exact copy. There are changes with these characters that are worth the play through
Sir, you obviously not have the game, or haven’t tried to touch King and AK, or the rest of the characters either…
Let me enlighten you. King is designed to be a defensive and setup based character. He has good damaging punishers, more versatile throws and damaging multithrows, great tracking, and generally great tools for setups like BJGS, pokes and mids. AK on the other hand, is a more versatile, more offense-inclined character, he has a wavedash, and actual lows. He has more tools on oki too. The only similarities are some signature throws (GS, iSW, Tombstone, rock bottom/ak driver, muscle buster/hades drop). THAT’S IT. They look the same, but plays SO differently that they are their own character. Again, some people play either, and learning a character in Tekken requires work, so cutting off a character would piss those people. I could say this to Nina/Anna, Bryan/Bruce, Baek/Hwo, Jun/Asuka and every single character in the game…
For the other palette swaps chars, they are made for people who are having difficulty learning two chars at once. It’s already hard to learn one character already. That’s why there’s no reason people should say this game ain’t accessible. The game requires you to do homework to be competitive, just like any other fighting game out there
You obviously just don’t play the game to say these things. Again, there are players all around the world who plays those characters you want to retire. And you have no idea how fun those characters to play with.
Miharu’s so jiggly
Shout outs to Ocelotlikespie and Vlad7779311!
Vlad7779311 your Kunimitsu was awesome! I can not wait to test her out myself!
I picked up Miharu and, as expected, she is awesome… and so is Jaycee… and Armor King… and Anna…
This never even crossed the developer’s minds, so you can stop with this. Palette swaps are just simple ways to add more content to the game by using previously made content. People want Jun back, let’s update the character = Asuka. Baek is a shitty character design, let’s make a stronger one = Hwoarang. Xiaoyu needs a cute friend = Panda.
On a more broad level, King and A. King are both jaguar-headed wrestlers with similar character designs and play styles. The game needs 30 or less completely different characters, to help with the balance, game direction and focus, story and overall game quality.
I’ve spent lots of time with Tekken 3, 4, 5 and 6. I don’t think the game mechanics need to be dumbed down at all, I just think the roster needs to be cut in half.
Why though?
It isn’t like MK Armageddon where the focus is “THROW EVERYONE IN THERE FUCK BALANCE”. Most characters are viable (if not every).
For real… Free DLC, on top of being an already kickass game. Maybe twice a year does a game come around that I feel like I really get my moneys worth. Much love to Namco and Harada
I find it ironic how you call for clone characters to be cut yet you have a Panda avatar. I came into Tekken when Anna was just a palette swap and still play her to this day to the point where she’s evolved into a totally different character and I’ve found myself happy for sticking with her. Just because characters have similar fighting styles doesn’t mean they still don’t have any relevance. Eddy fans are still pissed Eddy wasn’t readily available in T5 then T6 comes out he not only has his own cursor he was shoehorned into a position as Jin’s right hand man, yet if you dare even think about cutting Christie you’d better be ready to face her fans wrath. I find it funny how SF can pull off 8 shoto’s in every game and not get a second glance but when Tekken does it while adknowledging the changes and doesn’t make you pay for it is a glaring flaw that needs to be fixed.
