The Truth Is Still Out There: X-Files Returning

I never found out what happened with the bounty hunter. Anyone one know where I can watch it from season 1 onwards?

If they ever did a Halo movie, Brian Thompson would make a great old Master Chief.

First seasons were good but after the death of the cigarette smoking man (actor died as well unfortunately), I lost interest.
But if it is just 6 episodes, I’ll give it a try. It might even be as good as the first seasons

There probably using this to gauge the audience for a new xfiles series with a new skully and mulder, which would be dope, as xfiles has never really truly been replaced, only bitten from. The show could really push the boundries, that i didnt think would be pushed in mainstream again. After the whole 911 episode for the spin off that was unaired, before it was canceled, youve never seen a show like xfiles on mainstream tv again. If there was, i missed it. Everything else that had a similar air to the show were on cable channels, were more reality tv like, and had kinda goofy producing to it, so you dont know to take it serious or not. When you watched xfiles, it made you really wonder if this show is whistleblowing on some weird shit really going on out there, or were the writers just that tuned into the world of conspiracies, monsters, and myths, mixed with their own creativity.

Considering the distrust to government and corporations, and open minds that are with us once again in society, it would be an awesome time to push those boundries again with a new xfiles show.

Just if they remake the show soon with new characters, dont sexy up mulder and skully. Skully wasnt really like a hot dork either. I cant really pin point what type of woman could represent her in todays climate, but i know its not megan fox. lol.

Amy adams would be a perfect new skully, but a younger version of her. Gillian anderson was like 22 when xfiles first aired, so she just ended up aging really well as the show went on.

according to wiki hes still alive

Doesn’t seem worth it to bring a series back just to do six episodes. From what read the show runner is telling six stories that don’t seem to be connected or part of an arc. Just six episodes. If that’s the case then it feels there’s little point in bringing it back on TV.

Cigarette Smoking Man was around right until the end…and the guy playing him still is alive.

And damn, I forgot they killed off the Smoking Gun Men, in the last season.

Yeah but the way he died vs the way he “Died” before he can always be written back in.

I hope they do more episodes like the vibe of season 5/6 rather than the later seasons.

Man I loved the X-Files. Unfortunately I wasn’t allowed to stay up to watch the episodes on Sunday nights, so I ended up watching the whole series years later.

I still think that to this day it is one of the best science fiction shows ever made.

(I’ll laugh if they bring back “Smoking Man”, only now he’s on Nicotine patches. “Sorry, I don’t smoke anymore.”)

Oh, good. I wasn’t incorrectly remembering that they killed off the Lone Gunmen. Again, I wouldn’t mind them ignoring that if they wanted to though.

I (vehemently) disagree, especially since it seems likely that this mini-series could easily be used as a way to gauge the potential success for a full-time series, especially given how well Fringe did and how well Sleepy Hollow seems to be doing on Fox. That type of gauging is hardly something a theatrical or even made-for-TV movie could do, really.

Still, your opinion is noted.

X-Files already had it’s time. If they gonna bring it back for mini-series they should try to finish up some loose ends rather than bringing six monster of the week episodes. If anything, the Lone Gunmen should be getting another shot.

I think lone gunmen are dead and gone… mulder was talking to their ghost in the last season…

I just don’t want these six episodes to be like that last movie… Just out, because reasons… I want part of the core story dealt with. Would love to find out his sister WAS alive, after everything.

First Heroes, now the X-Files?
Here’s hoping for that second season of Firefly…

(Wait. Heroes is coming back too? What. [/not enthused about that one])

Ugh. I put “Smoking Gunmen” in that last post because of SoVi3t’s post above that one even though I got their name right the first time. Fixed now.

Um, okay. Four things here:

  1. The Lone Gunmen got blown-up (or something), as I pointed out twice before this, so there’s that limiting their getting another shot. Not that it couldn’t be ignored, but yeah…

  2. I’m not sure why you’re automatically assuming this won’t be used to clean up at least some loose ends. It would be pretty stupid of them not to do so, especially since they’re going out of the way to bring back the original main characters when they could easily be bringing in other FBI agents as main characters given it’s been more than a decade.

  3. Similarly, I’m not sure why you’re automatically assuming that the episodes are all going to be standalone, “monster-of-the-week” ones. Is it just because it’s a mini-series? If so, then that’s quite silly of you.

  4. Finally, I agree that X-Files had it’s time. I didn’t even say I personally wanted it back as a full series. I was merely pointing out how, regardless of current intentions, it’s way easier to gauge potential viewership of something that originated on TV by way of six back-to-back TV episodes rather than a one-and-done movie.

They killed most of the cast in Serenity…

YOU CANT TAKE THE SKY FROM ME CRUCADES!!!

I started watching X-Files for the first time last week. Awesome so far. Episode with Seth Green is my favorite so far. The one where Mulder talks about the government implementing Roswell crash technology in human built crafts and the pilots just can’t even handle what its like up there.

Colonel Budohas! The two episodes with Eugene tooms scared the crap out of me as a child.

I’m a massive fan of the show, I’ve watched the whole series 4 times in my life so I’m pretty excited about this return.

I agree with most here saying the later seasons hot a little fuzzy as far as the main plot goes. I’d say after season six is when it took a dive, though there are still some fantastic one offs in 7,8,9. Roadrunners from season 8 still gives me the creeps.

Tooms episode has probably been the creepiest so far. The deep ice parasite episode was pretty nuts too (that Chargers fan!).

Anybody remember the incest family episode that Fox never played again? That one was pretty fucked up when I was watching that shit as a young teen.

Episode was called home, season 4, and yes it was mighty fucked up. When they would play that 50s music while murdering the sheriff, daaaammmmnn.

a true classic and @pyrolee 's favorite episode
