There is no meta in getting blown up by a wolverine team you know whats coming but somehow it still always works. Jwong started the Wolverine Akuma setup since the game came out and the same stuff still works that says alot. To each their own.
Last I checked we got the throw reset moment at EVO because Phoenix was able to draw the match away from a TOD mix up tutorial.

so you expect not to ever have to alter your strategy when you see characters with different abilities come in? Im not saying she doesn’t need to be fixed, but this whole different game stuff is bull, im not playing an rpg now, i just have to effectively apply my strategies in a different way rather then seeing how many 100% combos I know. Hell i wish their were more character that instilled the fear that dark phoenix does.

she has issue because, the 5 meter thing, x-factor, meter building being ridiculously fast in the game, her health as jean being so low that most people would rather just use her as a last ditch effort.
Why would i work my ass off as jean against a cast that can kill me within the first half of their BnB, without dark phoenix instead of simply holding back and earning a reward.
Maybe making an input or something more difficult for the transformation but overall nerfing her health is dumb.
nerfing her limited movements outside of dark phoenix screams "yo im just using her for dark phoenix"
Shes difficult to balance but a lot of you are over dramatic. the people who have been winning with her are fairly skilled.
the matches we play as not the top 8 in the world are random as hell even without phoenix in them.
also funny is the “omg scrub character” mentality, any other time you’d laugh at the person saying it but most of you hold the position that “anyone who uses her is cheesy or a scrub” the words from many a “scrub” just think about that.

I don’t have much to say but i feel that nerfing anyone character to hell wolverine or phoenix just places the target on someone new. I already see a few more 5 pages salt threads incoming from just seeing like 10 minutes of play from 2 of the 12 new characters lol.
also, jean gray is damn powerful, the phoenix force itself is what eats universes etc. If they made using jean alone more viable i think that would make dark phoenix disappear a little more.
how helpful is healing when next to me when in this game, you being next to me likely means you kinda have me in a combo that does 600,000 health and beyond and I only have 400,000, and somethign tells me I’m not healing at 400,000 exactly.
There’s no question jutin could random select 10 times and beat my best non phx team 10. Times. Its just a massive skill differential. Can yu really deny phoenix steals wins? I don’t know how good you are, but let’s say for the sakee of argument, you’re way better than me. U don’t think my record vs you would be way better when I go wesker tron phx? And yes, its in the game. I appreciate that. And if I. Played in a tourney, id prob use phx. But I don’t think my point that phoenix allows lesser skilled players win against stronger opponents can even be argued against.
Well ok, I suppose the argument could be that using phx just makes me a stronger mvc3 playe. But then in that case, it does so to prety much anyone, especially at mid to low level. (Please excuse typos, posting from my phone)
It’s not just the additional input lag. The PS3 fails to keep a steady FPS in MvC3, especially during hypers or when assist are on screen. Also, the PS3s at Evo basically couldn’t run any stage but the Danger Room. Asgard played at like 30 fps in my pools when ever someone picked it.
Viscant deserves the win, I don’t think anyone will say otherwise. But if you think it was all play skill, and nothing to do with dark phoenix you are wrong.
Honestly, there should be a “turn shadows off” option. Kill shadows, enjoy 60FPS constant framerate (maybe). Hell, I say every game should have this option, mainly because shadows on consoles are pixelated and ugly 99.9% of the time.
LOL this is why we need to have month long evo so we can play best of 10 to weed out randomness. I’m sure rio hotel would love the idea too.
Phoenix is good, but how good is it? In the midst of people finding out new tech, who can really be sure so soon? If I time travelled to tell og mvc2 players that iceman and blackheart are overrated I would’ve been ridiculed. Luckily for me there was no umvc2 and ppl. Had to play the same broken shit forever until that hypothesis was proven.
I tried playing MvC3 on ps3, that shit is horrible. Frame drops, random slowdowns, ugh. I don’t even understand how the guys at evo were hitting everything.
The big problem with Phoenix isn’t her power-level, it is how much of a different game she plays than everyone else.
Truthfully this is not a problem, your goal should be to force your opponent to play your style of game and avoid playing theirs. Many of the best characters (in terms of design, not power level) are like this.
Wolverine to most observers plays the same game everyone else does, so less people get salty losing to him. To a majority of players Phoenix feels like she is flat out cheating. She could be the worst character in the game and a lot of people would still lose badly to her and complain she needs nerfs. People feel cheated by her.
Agreed. Lvl 3 xfactor dark phoenix was the only real problem, not dark phoenix. XF makes ALOT of things broken in this game so why single out a character who only appears if YOU want her to?
If you superjump constantly in the corner i find there’s literally no way she can mix you up. She cant teleport behind you and a high/low mixup can’t be done in the air. Dark phoenix doesn’t appear unless you kill phoenix, you can potentially just leave her with one hit and then ignore her and all you have to do is watch for throws.
To me, if you’re going to decrease any characters health, she better have SOMETHING to compensate. A health nerf AND a fireball nerf is basically making the character useless since xfactor is also getting nerfed. I find it disturbing people would be happy with this considering anyone playing against her doesn’t actually even need to fight against her.
MvC3 is beyond where AE is at, theres a MUCH larger spread between the worst MvC3 characters and the best MvC3 characters. It’d take far more than a Phoenix nerf to balance the game…
Outside of Wolverine/Phoenix/Hsien Ko(besides assist)/Arthur that is kinda untrue. A lot of the characters can be played competitively within each other. Hell, I have seen Thors take out Weskers.
