I hate you Zar for making me say that I should try it, and I enjoyed it.

So yeah. What the FUCK is up with the shitty AI in this game? UGH. UGH. UGH. UGH.

FUCKING HATE THE AI

I dunno, the lvl7 AI seems pretty standard to me. Itā€™s actually kinda helpful when first learning the game because you can pick up a lot of strats and anti-strats from it. But like w/ any other AI, the shit will cheat like no thereā€™s no tomorrow (input reading, not storing charge, etc.) so you can only get but so much out of it before it starts to annoying or predictable :blu:ā€¦Still a good learning tool compared to AIā€™s that are too hard or too dumb.

I swear to god, the standard AI grabrange is 0 frames and a full character space away. I canā€™t throw them ever.
Also, is it just me, or is it ridiculously hard to punish Armaggonā€™s DP?

Long story short: AI cheats w/ just about everything. Play moar ppl plz.

As for Armaggonā€™s DP. yes, that shit is ridiculously hard to punish simply because he has ABSOLUTELY NO RECOVERY ON LANDING lolol. Sigh, what a piece of shit. However, the are ways to punish it but you must do so before he actually lands to recover.

Here are some good ways to punish while Arm is still airborne from his DP:

Aska
close HK (straight up kick), or HP DP

HP DP works best but you must be quick about it. Close HK is good for when he crosses behind you w/ the HK version of his DP. Just mash on that shit.

Leo
Jump back early HP, or LP DP

If youā€™re fast enough, the HP will hit him as youā€™re ascending in the jump. Leoā€™s jump HP is beast overall and you can often beat out Armā€™s DP head on w/ it. LP DP is also good but you must be quick about it.

War
Jump back HP, or LP+LK, or HK (close or far)

War has very fast jump start up and you will be able to tag him at the start of the jump using his low angled HP. LP+LK and HK (close or far) is good for hitting Arm when heā€™s going to land in front of you.

Raph
Close HP

Just mash it and the HP will find him lol. Be sure itā€™s a neutral HP so you donā€™t execute any accidental power drill specials

Don
HP or Jump back HP

Donā€™s HP has absurd range and speed. Fast enough to tag Arm before heā€™s able to land. Jump back HP works the same as w/ Leo. Go for this if you think he will slip behind you w/ his HK Shark Upper (DP)

HK is decent for when heā€™s going to land in front but is exceptionally well for when he ends up behind you (anti-crossup). Feel free to mix his ass up w/ triangle jumping as Arm is landing. LP+LK is good for Armā€™s LK DP

C.Dome
jump back early HK, or jump forward early HP

Both will catch him as you start the jump. Jump back HK is good for getting some distance after punishing.

C.Shredder
HK Aura Knee or Jump back early LP

Itā€™s important that you use good judgment and only go for the HK Knee if hes GOING TO LAND IN FRONT OF YOU. If Arm crosses you up w/ HK DP then youre screwed because you will lose your charge and get close HK instead (which will likely be punished by another shark upper). jump back LP is good for when hes going to land behind you.

Armaggon
Any Shark Upper

Just be sure to time it so that he is hit before landing. LK version seems to produce better results.

And who said Don sucked? Any Jump-in into Rapid HP will fuck your shit up if he can get it out. Besides that, HP and his other normals are still plenty enough to carry him through a match. Ground Claw and Dreidel are useless, but heā€™s not as bad as some of you make him out to be. :stuck_out_tongue:

Plus his kick throw is positively badass. Screen-shaking headbutt ftw.

I dont recall anyone ever saying Don outright sucked in this thread and if they did they are sadly mistaken.

As you have stated, HP is a crucial part of his game and imo is quite abusable. Itā€™s proves to be a solid AA and holds weight in footsies. As for HP rapid stab, even outside of combos its still pretty godlike. Decent chip, safe on block and builds hella mutagen/super for guarding it (esp when low on life).

Ground Claw is decent for zoning at 3/4 scrn or further and against cornered opponents Don can control space with random ground claws mixed in with st. HPā€™s. Although itā€™s doesnt match the potential of raph and mikeā€™s beastly projectiles it still serves some purpose. (Itā€™s just not abusable like the aforementioned lame-oā€™s) .

Headspin being useless is way off. First of all, headspin has total invincible startup up until the first kick AND itā€™s invulnerable to throws! Not only can it be used as a safe AA (doesnā€™t actually AA but will pass through jumping attack and beat opponents followup on landing) it also has a mean ass meta-game behind it. E.g. vs rising opponents Don can walk up and tick w/ cr. LK and throw or cr LK and LK headspin to beat counter poke attempts. Same applies w/ just a vanilla wakeup throw: walk up throw or walk up LK head spin. Headspin also has no disadvantage on block. In fact, it may even have +f lol. Iā€™ve run guardstrings vs turtling opponents such as: HK spin (hold fwd for all 3 block ticks) then mash out a HP rapid stab (which has extremely fast startup) for extra chip/meter and to counter any poke outs. edit headspin blows through dp stlye moves too if exeā€™d at the same time =/

lol 2f? thats quite the exaggeration there, sir. Don has 3rd fastest fb among the turtles iirc (w/ leo being fastest [10f?] and raph slowest [around 20f - dont remember]). But yeah, its still moderately effective in corner pressure when coupled w/ normals like HP, cr. HK and HK (AA).

While Iā€™m at it, howā€™s Leonardo in this game? Iā€™ve heard heā€™s low-tier, and plays like proto-Ky Kiske with a stupidly overpowered super or some shit. I tried him out, and his projectiles donā€™t dizzy as easily as lvl8 Computer Leo does (which is weird, since it wouldā€™ve made him a great character if it did), but I do agree heā€™s kinda a proto-Ky given how his game focuses on Shining Cutter and DP spacing plus mastery of his normals.

Nah, we dont do gatherings for TF as much any more. In fact, that last time the ā€˜divine trinityā€™ assembled was at NEC8. JeRon is mia and Sabin is upstate for school and as for myself: with work/school , I dont think Iā€™m willing to play TF seriously again for a scene that pretty much doesnā€™t exist (esp. after the many ppl that have come to me showing interest in TF then dropping it after two wks or so). I will however be at CF this Saturday to host a non-TF related gaming event. If you can manage to find me Iā€™ll gladly play you in a few casuals. Chibi and Zaelar will be there as well and they too play TF from time to time.

Now on to Leo. This turle isnā€™t particularly amazing but heā€™s definitely not a char to be slept on. He gets by on playing smart and playing well calculated. Proper spacing for fbā€™s, poking w/ st. HP, sharp reactions to jump ins and knowing when to take risky jump inā€™s w/ j HP seems to be the gist of his play style. his combos arent extremely threatening or damaging but they get the job done. He has a few good match ups versus the stronger chars of the cast but his lack of ā€˜cheapnessā€™ keeps him low imo. If youā€™re using leo as main you may want to consider having a back up char for matches that may trouble you later on. Then again TF is somewhat counter-match heavy so it would be in your best interest to pick up a few chars on the side (that wont be too hard). Leoā€™s super is rather gimmicky in that there are many ways to avoid the full chip. One of the few ways to increase the chances of landing a full chip super/UA is by landing a meaty LP shining cutter then following up w/ UA from about half scrn or further. His corner fb lockdown game is reminscent of sf2 ryu and mixing in far HPs can keep the opponent pinned in the corner quite sometime (be sure to watch for those specials that can reverse it!). ā€œheā€™s kinda a proto-Ky given how his game focuses on Shining Cutter and DP spacing plus mastery of his normalsā€ is indeed the best way to describe his play style.

As for raphs fb, yeah, its kinda slow on startup but it travels at a good speed, with good guard stun and has practically NO RECOVERY on it. So hes able to chuck them w/ extreme persistance. TIGER!
