no joke my sister just hit me up this morning about Thundercats. Wanted to know if it was worth a watch… told her it gets pretty good, then really good, but then it gets canceled, on a cliff :sad:
Yeah that’s pretty much it.
The old cartoon was too simple. The new one was too complex. Complexity is never a good way to attract new viewers so the cancellation due to poor ratings comes to no shock to me.
I feel there can be a good middle ground like season 1, but with season 2 it fell more into the complex side.
I’m all for character driven stories and ongoing sagas, but if you don’t mix it up with stories that are one and dones (stories you can enjoy if episode xxx is your first) along with being FUN (not a single episode in the ENTIRE SERIES was fun, an unnecessarily dark reboot) you’re just going to miss the mark IMHO.
In short I liked the new series, but I’m not surprised it’s gone. Appealing only to our generation equals death. You have to put stuff in their for everybody, especially John Doe who just turned on his TV.
“The Demolisher wins! The new Thundercats cartoon loses! The Demolisher wins! The new Thundercats cartoon loses?” You see? FUN.

That new show was soooo awesome!! It had its share of clumsy moments, and dumb crap that didn’t make sense but, it was otherwise GOLD. And they made cheetara hot!!
This show easily ranks up there with the all-time best cartoon/toy reboots. Sadly, i guess Thundercats is a brand that just wouldn’t catch on with the new generation.
