ok here’s the pencils.
i couldn’t get the levels correct in ps, it either looked too washed out, or the darks got muddy.
either way. i think i’m going to try to paint over this one.
i usually do all my painting in ps on a seperate layer. does anyone know any tricks for painting everything on one layer? or am i just gonna hurt myself doing that?

after about 40 min i got this…
i can not do digital coloring to save my soul…
i know there are threads and what not, but are there any good books about it? like almost w/ lessons…cause i just suck.
colors look good to me. You just need some cool fills in the shadows. He looks too thin for The Thing though, Jim Lee said the secret to drawing Grimm is to think of him like a starfish.
ok i spent like another 40 min on this.
not happy w/ it, but happier.
got a little at the end there. i figured it’s time to stop.

is this what you mean by cool colors? or did i not get it right?
crits/comments/pointers gladly appreciated.
Yeah. He has more dimension now. It’s not something you have to do though, but most of the time adding cool fills helps.
Nice cools, Rabid. Agreed with DF on using cools, since you’re just now getting into digital coloring, just get familiar with your warms and cools for the moment and experiment. Warms push upand stick out, cools recede and turn. Once you get this down, just mess around with your tones and massing, and you’ll be fine.
