I’ve been a platformer guy at heart since I was an even younger boy and it’s been painful, PAINFUL to have such a lack of that shit these days. Yeah the R&C Future series was good and all (Crack in Time is by far the best one and actually surprised me as being REALLY good) but maaaan they ain’t gettin rid of that itch I have. But now. Nah man. I’ts over. DONE. ONCE AND FOR ALL I’M GETTIN MY CHARGE BOOTS ON AND ZIPPIN ALL OVER MAPS SHOOTIN EVERY FUCKER I SEE.
To this day Going Commando is my favorite game of all time. When I first played R&C1 on release it was my shit. THE shit. Nothing could beat it. Fuck everything else in existence. For that time, for me, it was like I re-discovered what it meant to be happy. Like that first time you go back and re-watch an old cartoon that you haven’t seen in years and you suddenly understand all the sexual in-jokes. Like that time you take your first-ever bite of a Tostino’s pizza straight from a pizza maker. It was that kind of joy for me. But then it fucking happened. Going Commando blew my fuckin MIND. EVERYTHING WAS BETTER AND I DIDN’T KNOW IT COULD GET BETTER BUT IT DID. I probably sound fuckin retarded going this nuts over this game but damn man, it was just… perfect, fucking beauty in the form of a cartoon Lombax and his little robot bro teaming up to stop a bunch of fucking Furbys from raping everyone in the galaxy. To this day I still have a memory card from that year with 14 New Game Plus runs on it. ON THE SAME FILE. DON’T ASK ME WHY MAN I COULDN’T GET ENOUGH.

@ Rich: I don’t have a PS2 anymore and never had online. Bishop does though so you can play Armageddon with him. Can’t say it’ll be fun catching ALL the broke shit though. It’s funny, but not fun.
@ Dax: Everything you said: co-signed. And other people won’t understand it, but that’s ok. Most people liked GC the most. It was like, the most platformy. Thing I liked best about it was the hoverBIKE races. I hated final boss though. Even with less shit, I like OG > GC just because of flavor and mood. And it was harder. Plus I like that Ratchet was an asshole in that game. Other people didn’t, which is why Insomniac redesigned his personality to be more of the standard generic heroic type, which is kinda bland to me. UYA didn’t have any races, but it did have most shit to find, collect, best combat, best overall arsenal and leveling, some amazing levels, and best boss battles imo.
ACiT reintroduced alot back into the series and some new stuff. But I don’t think those new abilities compensated for me not having Clank on my back 95% of game, Clank sections weren’t my cup of tea, and I just kinda didn’t like where story went all Star Wars cliche style. R&C is supposed to be paroding and making fun of the cliches not becoming one. But i do wanna finish it sometime.
Yeah I agree that UYA was the best game. I’d be my favorite game if GC didn’t give me that original feeling of pure sex I got going from R&C1 to GC. One thing I really like about the Future series is that they brought back Dr. Nefarious. Love that character.
I think ACiT was awesome for what it was for, going a little deeper into Ratchet’s story and expanding on things that fans have wanted to know for years. I consider it, plot-wise, a game for those kind of fans. Personally I found Ratchet’s lack of a full backstory (especially with his species) to be kind of cool. Separated himself more from the rest of the species in the galaxy, made you feel more unique playing him. Although the plot of ACiT still did a good job explaining everything. As far as the rest of the plot goes I agree, it did start getting a bit too cliche. But hey, they wanted a more-serious, big, epic-feeling story for the Future games and in that sense they did a pretty good job.

Hahahaha that was a big wtf at the end of QFB. Knowing that Future saga was supposed to be more serious, then revealing that fucking Nefarious was behind disappearance of Clank. My thing with Future series was that it shitted on past characters, ones that were more appealing than Future saga ones. Then you build this whole thing with Ratchet and Talwyn, but she’s NOWHERE to be found in ACiT?? Only a shoutout over the radio station? What the hell? Plus, if you’re gonna give us another lombax besides Ratchet(Angela from GC was confirmed finally too I think), why Azimuth. Dude was a tool imo. But these are just personal gripes of mine. I like ToD > ACiT for same reasons as UYA. ToD was the UYA of this saga as ACiT was the GC. But by ToD being first game in Future saga, it had some badass moments and build-up to some forthcoming epic shit that either never came or fell flat.
Really, they prob should’ve gave Ratchet a decent rival. Like a StarWolf from Starfox. This is cliche, but works. I’m just saying, I only liked the Smuggler from Future series and he was only in one game. I love all of the games though. But if they did some epic shit with The Plumber like they were alluding to, brought back Q Force and Skid McMarx, some of the heroes from DL, or even had Drek, Vox, other powerful heads from past games involved in some stuff behind the scenes, that’d been heavy shit. And you’d really feel like you had the entire galaxy on your shoulders.
