SFxT was the best thing to ever happen to KOF
Im gonna be doing a LOT of solo training…thatbis definitely needed…
I also need to save up for MBB and MWC (yes I need those extra five bucks per week) so I’m going into hiding till Memphis… lol. @Chris by the way…
Been on that new Twisted Metal tonight. And you X-Cock munchers can’t have any.
You mean what characters does everyone use?
Yeah…I didn’t know how to word it.
After I body Doug, I will see how the game does here in Memphis, but it is looking like I will have no reason to play the game as the format standard looks to be 2v2. And with no one to play with, I will just be wasting my time.
Real talk, I just hope one of these companies, Atlus, Capcom, Arc Systems, somebody, makes a game here soon EVERYONE will play. Sure Kang is big here in Memphis, but people across the country don’t play it. Triforce referred to it as “the 3rd world country of fighting games!”
Sure I don’t really care what others think about certain games, especially Triforce, but I think the community as a whole, locally and at large could benefit from a game EVERYONE is playing and hype about.I just think its sad that we all play Kang, and it might get 200 entrants at EVO, but for the most part, people here hate Sf x Tekken and it will probably have 2000+ entrants at EVO.
I think there is one thing we can all agree on here - the problem is people like bad games.
Dude…I typed out a fucking list of over like 25 players in Memphis(not even including NeoMemphis) and 2 characters that they use and while I was holding shift it deleted the tab. I fucking hate this laptop sometimes.
Oh well. You’ll prob get that shit again when I’m stuck in traffic or have diarrhea on the toilet. Not typing all that again.
But basically people here use a lot of characters. I had listed 2 characters from each person but…goddamn this keyboard.
Thats all a matter of opinion.
Sure isn’t. SF4 is good, KOF is great, Marvel needs help drinking from a juicebox.
So I’m drunk right? Played SF4, got bodied, got pissed, said fuck it, put the ball in the hole, full screen walk up and grab, got wins. Shout outs to Mike. And extra shout outs for posting that pick of himself with the frostiest of ice grills on his face.
yeah I have seen a lot of bitching around all the thread post and even on the front page about this.
@Negro- If cross is dying then there is a god. I know in the car on the way back to M-Town most of the talk was for AE and Kang. It also made me happy to hear people saying “damn cross gave me these bad habits in insert good game here”. It will be nice if I can drop that game entirely only to watch it pick back up when the DLC drops we know thats gonna breathe some life back into it might as well accept it. Till then long live KOF
@Eddie-I know im not in your scene man but PLEASE dont drop Kang. Given the way you play SF I swear this game is tailor made to suit you. I agree w/ breezy though just try a bunch of chars and see what sticks. Despite all the universal options the chars have play styles actually vary quite a bit. In fact the only thing I know of that annoys people is how easy it is to break normal grabs even in the recovery of a special move
@GDBell:Triforce…REALLY. Let that man go back to bagging groceries at some bodega and jerking off into his powerglove. No Kang isnt gonna surpass capcom games at most events but to act like its a “third world fighter” is crazy. NorCal, SoCal and M-Town all have legit scenes for this game. Fuck do you know how many people at one point were watching SoCal Regionals KOF last Sat 10K. Thats not a third world fighter. If you want to talk about a fighter that is on the outskirts popularity wise look at BlazBlue. Now for the town we all live in, if you love competitive fighters, want to travel and generally want the best possible comp you can get Kang is it. Majin/Marcus are national level in this game, Bishop is not that far behind them and Herbert is deadly too. No not everyone will jump on it and I get it if people dont want to play/learn but there are enough good FGs out there that we should all be covered with Kang/AE/Tek/SC
@Ragnarok: I dont know who everyone uses in Tek but given how many people are here that play and are decent a good portion of the cast is covered. Pretty much all the top tiers are repped as are some of the lesser known/played chars. Tek will prolly be in effect at our fight night this week cause there is hype around it right now but best place to find that might be at the gatherings hosted by herbert/afro josh on the weekends. Many more of the old school tek-heads are present
Who all was on the Tek 5 man squad again and when was this 5v5 happening?
If KoF got 170 entrants at FR I highly doubt it will only get 200 at Evo. I’m guessing at least 800-900.
I dont know 800-900 seems really high, I mean I hope it gets that and it has the most hype finals of the whole event but I would expect maybe closer to 400-450 or so. Either way I hope Marcus/Majin can go and rep.
KOF seems like a game I would actually have to practice on a daily basis, I like fighting games I can casually play competitively.
THAT’S WHY YOU USE THE CTRL C CTRL V BRO!!! But ok lol.
Oh ok. I just want to know what characters to expect really and out of curiosity as well. Hah.
I have a feeling KOF is about to blow up tons of top players are starting to
pick it up. Justin and combofiend are already playing tons of other are talking about picking it up like mike ross and flash.
The next MLG is in Cali so expect the numbers to be a lot higher. The only issue is its the same weekend as ECT. But I think this is less of issue than it being the same weekend as NCR with the biggest KOF scenes being Cali based.
A lot of people are against MLG but I think it’s in kangs best interest to do well and if it doesn’t at the next one, Word is it will likely be dropped I’d hate to see that.
I mean BALA literially cried after winning MLG so you can see just how much this means to these players. That large pot must of felt like a vindication for hard work he’s put into KOF all those years.
As for SFxT I still believe it is a fun game especially 2v2 but a serious fighting game hell no! But it’s still very fun in a Mario party sort of way plus it has working online which is always a good thing.
MWC was in Chicago and Nebraska (for one year) since 1993. Kentucky is considered part of the Midwest these days and we are still the same distance from Indy/St.Louis as we were in Chicago. Point is, the name has been around and we are less than an hour from KY and the KY THREAD is in Midwest for matchmaking, so I guess Sparks and crew live in the Midwest? lol…
Point is it’s a 20 year old tournament. The name has value and recognition and is the longest running fighting game tournament in the USA. No reason to change the name just because we are an hour away from a “Midwest” state.
To be completely technical, Nashville is the “mid-South”, we’re not “East Coast” or “East”, just geographically east of most states but technically this is the Mid South.
Who is mad? I guarantee all these people are either A: Mortal Kombat players where the hitbox is ungodly, or B: They want to be upset abd out something and don’t even PLAN on attending MWC.
I’ve said it all along, if I get one to evaluate I’ll consider it. What has been going on? People are still whining and not realizing the easiest thing to do is GET ME A HITBOX. They even went as far as to complain to the guys RUNNING Hitbox and they contacted me about this.
Let me set this straight, just because something is allowed at every single tournament doesn’t mean we are allowing it unless it is properly evaluated. If players can not prepare against a GOOD player using a hitbox because certain moves can be performed at intermittent times that are not as well predicted with a pad/stick, that will create an issue for players.
There has to be a limit here. Why not macros or turbo or dual Analog/Digital joysticks for blocking everything? I mean, if I get one of these to use, great, but I’ll say this once. And the history behind this is because I went out and spent $1000 for PS2/JAMMA converters at MWC one year because all these players said they would come and use them so they could use their controllers when in fact they DIDN’T show and we had LESS entrants in those games…
Anyone that states they want a HitBox to be allowed at MWC and if it IS allowed and they do NOT show up to MWC will be barred from any MWC/Game Galaxy events.
This may not matter to some people but I say if you are so vocal about it then you had better be showing up with a HitBox after going through all this to try and get them allowed in the tournament.
Kinetik, none of this is directed at you at all, so please don’t think of that (nor should anyone else think this is directed at any one specific but I know players very well and I know how flaky they can be and also know about demands and complaints, etc. Been there done that. Nothing in the scene (even with the changeover with too many fighting game saturating the market and creating an issue with skill in the player pool for single games, but that’s another discussion altogether) has changed since I’ve started…history is repeating itself and this hitbox issue is the same thing we dealt with the converters a few years back…
Bottom line is, I need a Hitbox to evaluate it. If I get one, I’ll consider the rule change. Said this weeks ago yet there is still backlash on the rule and I have no Hitbox? LOL…Gotta love it.
