The Tekken 6 Thread - December 08 for PS3 JPN port, no info on US/World

It doesn’t, because it wasn’t meant to. It’s just an example of the story altering what a character does and doesn’t have in terms of gameplay.

I won’t bother with the subject of Namco’s obvious laziness.

Too bad Panda has all the same moves for like no reason, and Lee’s been like that since before he had a story at all.

Yes, Namco laziness abounds in those examples, but the point is that the storyline changes to Jin’s gameplay were actually drastic.

Kusanagi, I was just kidding on Jin banging Ling or Asuka, for sarcasm purposes, however the fact is, I do not like Jin becoming another Bad-Guy Mishima, since I liked his character for the reason that he was the prodigal son, and maybe because he’s my main in-game as well.

Azagoth, you speaking of Jin’s gameplay changes storyline/gameplay wise was definetly huge, I remember the transition from T3/TTT to T4 playing Jin I was like “WTF?! What happened to Jin?!” I really got mad at that, and completely dropped him for a week, and instead picked Kazuya instead…however I went back to pick up Jin again, and after awhile it started to grow on me, now a days I prefer Karate Jin over Mishima Jin, even though Mishima Jin is the better character.

I had just noticed right now that T6 Jin, his Ewhf on CH seems to give out bound, lolz…after my complete disgust of the juggles+bound and rage, I stopped looking at T6 for awhile now.

Ewhf with bound affect just might help improve Jin’s gameplay more. Actually good imo, considering since T5, his only real consistent launcher was ws+2…one of these days I hope Namco changes Jin’s Cd+1 back to the T4 mid hitting left hook, at least it’ll get more use then it does now, cd+1 can still be seen from 1000 miles away…

New patch out in Japan- A99. Don’t know what has been changed yet from International Ver. A89, so I suspect we’ll hear some new info pretty soon.

seriously when will the patching end?

NEVAHHHHHHHH!!!

or until Namco are happy with it. Or people are happy with namco.
Whenever that will be! Whatever they do, someone will complain about something.

I think this is going to end in tears, i mean what’s to say at sbo they use version whatever and people from other countrys are playing a complete different version?
Also what is the point of even using a character if they’re going to get changed every patch.
i remember AK users LICKING there lips at DB3 into 40% and now it’s just as crappy as it was in DR i belive, correct me if i am wrong.

I’m all for revisions but doing them how t6 is doing them is just crazy imo, it feels like your playing an imcomplete game

Agreed, they just simply need to stop patching this shit and get it over with it. Like I said from Day #1 of Tekken 6, they don’t bother fixing the source a.k.a. game engine mechanics then they’ll be patching forever on T6 to make it solid.

I say just leave it as it is, with that last patch that ShinkuuR has posted. That way we can finally start breaking down this game, but most importantly so that everyone can all start playing the same Tekken 6.

Yes thank you! I ain’t the only one that thinks Tekken has turned over to the worst:woot:now I wish namco would take heed to this and actually fix the game up like its suppose to be…but unfortunately that won’t happen. Its more younger heads playing these games so my guess is that they trying to make the game a little more accessible…booooo. Go back to the Tekken 4 fomula…I think that was the best one they had, storyline and fighting system. I mean damn the intro was just too damn sick! Kazuya coming back and all…that intro was like some kind of mafioso type shit! Then I play Tekken 5 and then play as Law and he joins the tournament for what?..to pay off some bills?! WTF!? Namco falling off for real! And you can’t go wrong with the position change and varied levels of terrain either…sigh…I still play Tekken 4 and below to this day. Maybe I’ll play T6 just to see what its like and to try out the new characters but thats it.

Anyone know the address for the website that lets you practice throw breaking?

http://tekken.reepal.com/index.php/tbt#help

whoa what’s this link me too!

^^

There’s such a website?

My Wang thanks you!

Lol, I can only break out of throws like…70% of the time……wished I could do it like 90% of the times like the other peeps I play around with.

I know that tekken 4 was good but it was also broken. If you think the tiers are broken now in tekken 6 just watch the finals vids of tekken 4. It was strictly jin vs jin vs jin vs jin vs steve vs jin vs jin… And jin’s main tool wasa mix up between JF laser S. (unblockable mid starter) and the undelayed CH laser S. Don’t forget Lee’s scrubby arena juggle infinite…

Tekken 5 went back to the t3/ttt style because it had more of a following. Tekken 5 really got a lot of gamers coming around, from those new players to some of the old ttt players.

Obviously tekken 6 is capitalizing on that. As of now the tiers in tekken 6 are quite okay. 4 to five guys in top is just okay. In tekken 4 it was Jin in SSS class (tekken 3 it was Ogres in SSS and jin in S). Some of the characters are not really that original like Bob; he is more of a rehash of the mishimas with the crouch dash, but he has decent standing moves like a great d/f+2 or a decent low poke like d/b+3.

It is very apparent too that Namco DID ATTeMPT TO balance the game more. Look at the changes: Bryan was really powerful in DR but now he is quite mediocre. Lei was crap back then, now he juggles like a madman (almost half a bar even for a low). That is not saying that they did the best job, at least they are getting there.

All in all, t6 is a decent game. It is average but not marvelous. Although it tries to do away with some of t5DR’s system (movement in t6 is slower or seems slower). The new additions are quite appealing in that they can hang with the old characters. Although it might feel like a rehash of DR, it’s still is fun in its own right.

Final words on T4 system
++++++++++++++++++

What i did like in t4 was the wall push (any direction + 1+3). It would be nice if they got it in in t6 somehow (not necessarily as 1+3…). This added a lot of pressure games in t4. With this a wall would be a tool for all characters and not just for steve et al.

In Tekken 3, EVERYONE was cheap… only Ogre 1 was top, Ogre 2 was too big and you could do death combos on him. Law was up there as well.

In DR, Lei was GOOD… he was ranked in the top 5 by Japanese players(they were the only ones with good Lei players)… Bryan is still good in T6, better than he was in DR by a long shot…

In tekken 3 these characters were all great: nina paul ogres law jin heihachi Lei . It seemed like the others, guys like Bryan had a hard time with the above listed; he was just much better in ttt. Yoshi was cool too with his quick d/f+4 (which got really nerfed in ttt) but he was not all that great. Most of them had that cheap factor but not exactly cheap, as in Hei (wgf, d/f+1, cd+441, d+1 etc…)or Jin (ewgf, bf+212, ff+2 etc…) or ogre (inescapable throw/move damage) cheap. Those 3 guys had easy juggles that took over half of life bars and more.

Yeah Tetsuo Lei was really great. But it was really kinda hard using him in DR. Personally i am not good with DR lei. I would always prefer his old t3 version with the old razor rush used with the HAHA step… It was really nice to see how Japanese tekken flourished in the T5 - > DR.

About Bry in tekken 6, i am going to have to look him up. Wasn’t his best stuff nerfed?? As in ** f,b+2 and 3+4. ** What i know though is that he has a good wall game. But it is really hard to set those things up at times. Is his taunt game still ok though (heard it was much harder to get taunt->fb2)?

How’s my man Paul doing in T6? Still average?

Almost everyone was very strong in T3.

Ogre had the most stupid move in T3, that was faster then even Jin’s Ewgf and lead to stupid easy 60% damage on hit. Wanning Moon into Skyscraper, that shit was only 12-Frames?! This was like…the move that really made him go above Jin imo. Great SS game, and u/f+3 on block lead to stupid bs as well.

Jin was definetly the next best character in the game, Ewgf was too beastly in here around 30% damage if I remember correctly making it having higher damage then Wgf, and could lead to easy half-life draining juggles. Ws+2 in here was mad crazy good, simply because it had pushblock which made it 10x safer then the ws+2 in today’s Tekken games.

B/f+2 couldn’t be escaped and that was a guaranteed Ewgf after, and you add in the wavedash mixups and HS which could lead to damage around 40-45%. Typical 112 Mishima, but in here it does great damage. Jin was under Ogre, because as good as he was, he wasn’t TTT Jin good yet.

This was the best Ling, yes even better then T4, ws+2 launching on regular hit was too beast and could lead to 50% damage easily, great on blocked lows, not to mention that crazy move was safe even on block! This was Ling’s most evasive version ever created considering the other versions to come they would nerf this side of her more and more, she could ss and rds in T4 like a complete freak. AOP was extremely beastly in here. Arguably the best Ling ever!

After that, it would definetly be Heihachi and Law, they had the best BS after these three characters. Hei with mid-hitting Wgf, 112, wavedash mixups, although nowhere near as powerful as Jin’s, solid juggles as well, he wasn’t as crazy good as the 3 above, but he was better then anyone below him. Law had the stupid good 3,4 that could lead to huge damage. Just think…3,4, ws+4, b+2,3,4 did almost nearly 70% damage, crazy stuff I tell you. Parry punch that could lead to 60% damage, standing 4 was beastly, and the best B+1,2,1 out of any Law ever.

Those 5 where the best characters in T3.

Poon, although T4 was broken, it had the best Tekken game engine to date. It just needed a few upgrades to remove the BS that was in the game. T4 had the best offensive game vs the best defensive game out of any Tekken and it required alot of effort to play, simply because juggles didn’t dominate the game. T4 had the best character individuality as well. My absolute favorite Tekken game, too bad, too many people cried about it being too different, and balance really is overrated honestly, although I will admit, T4 Jin was the most grossly overpowered tournament legal character in Tekken history.

T5:DR quite possibly is the most balanced but it’s a crap game due to the random crap with crushes/hopkicks and almost everyone being capable of juggling, or should I just simply say the game engine mechanics where poorly implemented.

Having it so that juggles dominate, simply removed alot of the character individuality that was once there from previous Tekken games.
