The Tekken 6 Thread - December 08 for PS3 JPN port, no info on US/World

My concern is that fights in T6 will be boring and parallel with little evasion. They need to loosen up the SS a bit judging from the vids.

“Importing.”

Oh man, I’m not excited about this anymore at all. At the same time, excitement for SC4 is low as well since they fucked SC3 up(at least at first), and T6 seems like shit as it is. Here’s hoping hey get cracking on patches.

pffahahaha

i’d still get tekken 6. the game is so eye candy and namco can easily patch up the game. people don’t realize how easy it is to fix the game via a patch if it gets unbalanced. its like pc games where they get patch all the times if there’s something wrong with A.I. gameplay, or balance issues. and some of those death combos are situational so that’s good. i mean how many of you are good to land those on good players? lol.

The problem with Tekken 6, just like Tekken 5 DR is not the balance factor, it’s the game engine that is the problem. No matter how many times you go to tone down damage or to make characters “play” more even, it won’t change a thing. If the game engine itself is the root of the central problem.

If nothing is done to modify how Bound works, or limit the way rage is utilized…your going to still get stupid results. As I’ve said at the TZ boards, the character variety is going to be severely watered down in T6 just like T5, because everyone is going to play with the straight out juggle to land the B to land the wallsplat mentality.

I’m not pleased from a game engine standpoint of where Tekken 6 is going. Just look at Tekken6 now…how many patches are we on now??? Yet we still have problems…why? They aren’t looking at the real problem…–>>>game engine.

Yeah, I’ll still buy Tekken6.

You’re confused, the core of the problem isn’t the engine, it’s just a specific feature in the game’s system mechanics that you really dislike. Bound could technically be turned off by deleting the Bound function and removing that property from every move that has it and it wouldn’t take long, but they don’t want to.

Game Engine, not a problem. It doesn’t yet prevent you from being able to do stuff you want to in the game unless you want to fly or build sand castles. It’s just a feature of the system that you’ll either like or dislike.

I gave up on T6 because I realized namco cant and wont fix the main problems.

At the start of the round one step backwards followed by a launch can lead to a simple 68 percent combo with many characters. That just defies logic. You can only fix that by expanding the stages, which I dont think can be done with a patch, or removing bounce which they wont do because it is the only significant difference between Tekken 6 and previous Tekkens.

That said I hope when they do a DR style update they reconfigure the bounce system to where it is a strategic option and not a braindead juggle extension.

Isn’t that part of the game engine? Game system mechanic is part of the game engine. Isn’t Crush part of the game engine system? I would say so as well, which is part of the problem. You need me to be that super specific? Who seriously gives a damn, it’s retarded regardless.

Bound is stupid, and so is rage, have you seen those death combos being posted up at TZ? Shit’s ridiculous, and the game isn’t even global yet. Nina w/out rage nor Kuma to launch can dish out 80-90%+ damage easily, and judging by the looks of it, she isn’t the only character capable of doing this.

It’s like having everyone being a 5.0 Steve in Tekken6, which is a clear joke if you ask me. We can have as many patches as possible, but it won’t make a difference, Namco’s been patching for how many months now?

Sorry to sound like a sour pickle, but the more I watch/read about Tekken6, the more worried I get.

I apologise if this has already been posted but here’s KYSG’s youtube channel. Which for the moment is solely Tekken 6 combo videos.

Cheers.

Holy fuckball Jesus, does EVERYBODY have a kill combo??? Rage + bound + wall + floow = most broken game since MVC2.

Just seen Heihachi’s juggle + bound + wall + stage break 100% raged death combo.

I strongly disagree about the shit being situational. It’s situational to get 100%, yeah, but it’s no problem to get 70%. Every juggle over 50% is bad for me, it’s only watching for juggle starters then.

KYSG’s videos are really putting the hurt on Tekken 6. Also, lol at Bruce’s Death Combo, 14-Hits, and it didn’t even require a floor break for it as well….

Seriously…is there going to be any big advantage when I have 60% life while my opponent has 30% life??? Since either one of us can die from a juggle regardless of the life bar differential .

God, this game looks like trash! Sure they’ll patch it but…it won’t fix much…

Wow, you people are making it sound like Tekken 6 is already dead without playing it… And for those of you whining about 100% combos, please, PLEASE, show us a match vid where someone actually lands them 100% of the time off of any single launcher. And we’re even lucky Namco is actually giving a damn about balance issues now as compared to Tekken 4; give it time, it’s not like it takes a day or two to magically make a game balanced (look at the games that require patches and have a competitive scene and tell me how long it took for them to get patched to the point where it’s considered “balanced”).

If you’re complaining about the system to the point where you publically disown Tekken 6 like it’s a bastard stepchild, there’s an option you can take: go back to Tekken 4 or Tekken Tag, or don’t play Tekken at all. Other than that, everything else is just bitching for the sake of bitching.

And you know they can take out those 100% combos by modifying a few moves to end the combo early or make it harder (i.e. think increased pushback on some moves during juggles, making some moves not cause Bound, or some moves cause a ground spike or weird flips or whatever).

yeah, too much bitching in this thread. i bet most people here havent even touched the game yet.

I’m hoping they tone down bound…and fix the online gaming aspect so it’s at least…not as frustrating. I’ll still play it though…if it’s Tekken and it’s got my favorite characters (Asuka, Jin and Ling)…I can’t resist.

Problem is not balance, the game engine itself which is the problem. You can patch it all you like, but if Juggles+B+Wallsplat aren’t looked it, you’ll never get to the core of what’s crapping on Tekken 6.

100% Death combo’s aren’t a far off fetch, in some cases, they can work. All Kuma/Jack/Large ingame characters can now weep now, considering that most of them will, and do infact work on them. However, 100% combos aren’t the problem, the fact that everyone can easily dish out 80-90% damage without having to do Death Combos is the problem.

Balance is not the problem again, look at T5:DR, balanced game, but the game engine still sucks due to everyone being able to do 60%+, due to crushes potentially leading to 70%+, hopkicks ftl, etc, etc. Hell even top players have shown their dislike for T5:DR due to these exact reasons.

This is the most retarded statement I’ve read in a long time. Yeah, if you don’t like, let’s just separate the damn community, by making them play the old one. This is the new Tekken, this is going to get alot of heat, this is going to get alot of attention, it’s Tekken 6. Get with it, you think everyone jumping around wearing flowers over their heads about what’s going on with Street Fighter IV? Please man.

Nobody is bitching for the sake of bitching, just look at the gameplay. Everyone is like a 5.0Steve juggling+5.0 Bryan Wallsplat put into one. I read up on TZ somewhere of a Japanese Player, Tissuemon I believe, placed 1st recently in a Tekken 6 tournament, and in his words “This game is fucking shit…what was Namco thinking?”

Yes, this is comming from someone who actually won a Tekken 6 tournament? Just random bitching? This is far from the matter.

In example, New Ones will be found, because why? How many months are we now into patches? Explain to me? How many patches have we’ve seen and gotten? This game isn’t even global for crying out loud yet.

Yet Namco has not done a single thing about modifying the way Bound works, or that Rage is retarded. Or that Juggling+Bound is over the top, or that wallsplat is making for too much damage potential.

None of these are looked at, instead, all there doing is tweaking characters. If they actually just tweaked the game mechanics themselves. The results would make a drastic improvement. You don’t need to have played Tekken 6 to realize it’s crap, even people who’ve played it, are stating their complaints…ever looked at SDTekken, the place where most of us obtain the newest things about T6…people there are calling T6 crap.

It isn’t because Devil Jin has a JFLS, or that Steve has 311*, that’s making Tekken6 look out to be horrible.

It’s because a Launch or a Low with the new implemented game mechanics are making the potential for damage outrageous. I pity all the people who play the large characters in T6. Your opinion to like Tekken6 is perfectly fine, however it’s not opinion when T6 is losing it’s strategical/depth value, which is the real big complaint. Too much reliance upon juggles/Bound/Wallsplat will remove a lot of factors that make for a solid Tekken.

So let me see here…broke as a joke, check. Screwed over my favorite character by making him evil when he was a hero type throughout the ENTIRE SERIES? Check. New systems that only add to the brokenness and give 90% of the characters 100% combos? Check.

…Where’s Soul Calibur IV?

I guess Tekken 6 just made the series less close to the balanced technical nature of VF5 and more the fun brokeness of MvC2.
