Why didn’t people complain about TOP in Garou and K-Groove in CvS2 the way they do with T6? Is it the full-life or near full-life combos? Cause that isn’t all that out of place for Tekken, and it is 3 rounds to win.
That’s a poor excuse to a poorly made “new” game mechanic.
KrsJin, I don’t know much about Garou, however for K-Groove in CvsS2, the groove itself isn’t all spectacular like A/C-Groove, however once activated, it drains fairly quickly and if you do a special, it depletes completely, so there are side affects to having K-Groove activated which is taking damage+time limit. In Rage, if your down 10% or less, regardless, Rage will Stay no matter what, so the threat and damage potential is there until the opponent is dead.
The Rage System was not necessary and doesn’t help to improve the way we play Tekken whatsoever. The B System basically replaces the other half of the juggle carry that can lead to wall splats, so even by toning down juggles, they still have their threat and big damage potential regardless.
Imo, the B System looks like it can potentially be even more worst. However, once we get a few months into Tekken 6’s lifespan, I wouldn’t be surprised by what crazy things rage and B will do at a high competitive playing field.
Actually, some Bound juggles do a gripe. You should read duk’s posts over at TZ. I think B! would have been great for tekken tag (tag button being bound too).
As for american arcade versions, I am not even sure if namco is still gonna go through with the ‘per order’ status.
To me rage doesn’t balance anything, I just make combos more ridiculous than they already are. Shit, with b! your already going to deal out a shit load of damage anyway.
I’ve already stated I don’t like the bound and I’m pretty sure I don’t like the rage system. But in the Steve video everyone is looking at, Nina is stuck in a corner and eats 3 db+2. She cant sidestep or backup and for some reason can’t see the low coming in and parry it or at least block it on reaction.
I’m pretty sure everyone has been parry that on reaction since t5
Point is, the first round in that video is an extreme example of what the rage system can do. I say give it some more time or at least wait to play the game.
Ah yeah, I can see the argument about the timer. Just thinking about the whole argument that some say in that it rewards you for getting beat up. Which is the same as TOP and K-Groove. K-Groove is actually pretty nasty. A is clearly above it in tournament play, but it’s pretty popular right now in Japan.
im not trying to defend rage i am just trying to show a way of preventing someone from using it.
I read DUK’s posts, also his Tier Listing etc.
Look, I don’t even like how T5DR can be played. It’s so much about juggles that you can watch for juggle launchers and a little of okizeme only - all you need. Too much friendly for newbies. I am not a fan of B! system, but they had to come with something and they decided to come with this. The damage of juggles without wall was a little bit reduced, imo, but carrying opponent to wall is a lot easier. Then you wake up by wrong guess, you get a wall splatter and the whole shit again…
Funniest thing I read over at TZ, was some idiot suggesting T4’s wall push on top of all this. Thats’s like a 55% damaging combo/juggle if done correctly W/O rage. I liked the wall push/direction, but not for this game.
I know this is old most likely but around :36 is like the funniest shit ever in a tekken game. I’m playing this shit now just bcuz of it. omg i laffed so hord.
That supposedly got patched a few weeks back. Rage+Wall Break, still nets serious damage though.
That’s another big problem, and his Tier Listing isn’t surprising either. Ever noticed how the best characters in Tekken 6 can do great juggles+B and has great Lows that also lead to stupid damage .
I’m not surprised the way Tekken 6 is headed, everyone can bash Tekken 4 all they want, but that game took work to play, and was the last Tekken game that actually made you sweat to learn the game engine inside and out. Then we get Tekken 5 which was already newbified…however Tekken 6 looks like it could potentially take the show away from Tekken 5.
The mere fact that Duk implies wall carrying an opponent is much easier in Tekken 6, that alone will compensate for the slightly toned damage. It may sound like I’m being harsh to Tekken 6 from my last post, however seriously, why shouldn’t I be, when one of the fighting game series I really like is turning into a casual shit fest.
Still, I’m gonna play it, my Uncle who lives in Japan just gave me a call on my cell a few minutes ago, and told me that he got to test Tekken 6 out. In his exact words…
*
“It has awesome graphics, and Law looks mad pimp with the Lee looks, however your Jin seems to play not much different from his shitty T5 self, but I will tell you this, if you didn’t like Tekken 5 because of the bs in it, your really not gonna like Tekken 6, have fun with it when it comes to the US.”*
Btw…I hate Tekken 5…so yeah…
Here’s a link, lolz, watch the King Glitch Combo, hahaha. As sad as I am, I still can’t wait to play Tekken 6 though.
If juggling was as hard to as it is in VF5, I’d appreciate and enjoy Tekken a lot more. It just seemed ridiculous with how DR handled juggling and now it’s obviously a lot scarier in Tekken 6.
Unless they seriously tone down the damage from bound combos and take out the 10 second long ones, I can’t see myself enjoying this game that much.
Hm not really, there are characters that are easier to use then others though. But the easy thing about Tekken is how the four attack buttons are mapped to the 4 limbs, so you can already picture some basic combo inputs without actually ever playing the game. Each character has their own bread and butter combos, that is specific. Like you can’t do low kick x2 and then a projectile, because each character is very different. For concepts, you gotta learn stuff like wavedashing and specific character cancels.
To recommend some easy characters to learn, it’s actually easier to lists characters to stay away from. Guys like Eddy/Christie (Only guy I know that can use him is Spero, and he is godlike), Baek/Hworang, Lei, Ling, and the Mishimas. They might seem easy, but to fully get them you gotta get stuff like wavedashing/EWGF and shit down. Bryan is who I use,and people say that he is pretty easy to pick up, recommend him as a starter. Downside of Bryan is that he as limited moves, and he very very hard to play with especially up in the higher levels of play. He simply just doesn’t have alot of mixups and such, most of his damage comes from launching the opponent and beating the shit out of them, but the problem with that is that all of his are easy as shit to block, mostly highs. Ironically though, the best Tekken player in the world as of right now is Knee, who also uses Bryan.
I’d say go with like the Kings, Marduk, Dragonuv maybe, and Julia.
Yea, this all just seems like bad news.
thanks man.
Well Steve already has it, unless they took it out.
I can name 22 moves (plausible moves) to just throw out with Bryan.
I also don’t suggest you recommend Dragunov, the worst character in the game, to EvilSamurai over here.
T5DR Steve doesn’t make much damage from his wallpush. He can only 1,1,2 which is only few +frames on hit (1,1,2 is a natural combo), but you can mixup after very well.
Unsure how it goes in T6.
Not really, Knee went to army, recently (Nov/Dec 2007).
