The Tampa Thread: Facebook: Tampa FGC

Serious question… Why do some of you guys have such a hard on for SFxT? I like the game in a casual setting its fun 2v2 and it provides some laughs but i dislike it in a serious competitive environment.

Also I love that nobody is keeping this thread entertaining again <3

Not having a hatred for SFxT does not equal having a hard-on for it.

Hard on? None of us are here saying SFxT is the greatest game ever, although I do thoroughly enjoy it (and I think other people here enjoy it as well). I firmly believe it’s better than SF4 in terms of design.

As far as I like in this game, no comeback mechanic (unless you count health regen), no focus, less emphasis on vortex characters that dominate SF4, no revenge meter that rewards getting hit/punishes aggressiveness, no ultras. You wake up with a reversal you live with the consequences when it’s properly baited. No Yun/Yang or the idea that one or two characters should be broken. More emphasis on footsies and mind games/mixups. Every tournament loss in this game I felt like they earned it, while in SF4 (and in UMvC3), you can lose to pretty much anyone depending on the knowledge of the MU and not of skill.

I like my characters (Vega/Hwoarang), and I like finding synergy between them. I like the fact that if one character has a glaringly polarized playstyle (coughVegacough) I can choose a character that can cover those weaknesses or facilitate another playstyle.

I agree with Brian that people aren’t playing SFxT, people are playing SF4: Tag Edition. I won’t argue that it does need a patch or two but people also need to start playing the engine.

see that is fine logic… I don’t have a hatred for the game but I still see some flaws. I don’t hate I guess I am just disappointed with it. All We read and heard about the game before it came out was extremely positive and filled with reviews calling it the " best game ever". Maybe my expectations were a little high

This game is certainly not close to being as good as SF4 in anyway, except maybe it’s better than Vanilla, meaning over tweaking and patching, it could rival AE I suppose. And I’ll also disagree with Bshido that wins and losses can be undeserved in SF. **RARE **is the occasion where I feel like I’ve lost and or won and didn’t deserve it, but, albeit rare, it does happen.

None of us have a hard on for it. But those of us who play it know it’s not a bad game simply because it’s not the game we hoped it would be. I personally had no expectations of the game, except it’d be dependent on footsies, which it is. The lack of genuine footsies is what I dislike most about Marvel.

I have yet to post in this board, so let me introduce myself. I am that big 6ft5" black guy that has been to Serenity a few times, playing a shitty Juri, and Team “get blown the fuck up” in Marvel with Viewtiful Joe/Doctor Strange or Frank West/Rock Raccoon or Ammy. I have been following this thread for a while on people complaining about SFxT, and I have decided to pop in my 2 cents.

Blocking is incredible! Blocking is awesome! Blocking gives you the chance to live to help mount your own offense.

Unless you own the game on Xbox360, in which case, if you play with a controller or Hitbox (like me), your diagonals will randomly not register and you will get blow the fuck up because jab into launcher can easily take 40-50% of your health versus certain teams.

AT first, when I was getting blownup up online, I thought that I was just playing super shitty. I mean, I am not that great of fighting game player, and even then I always gravitate towards the character I like, even though many of them are characters that cannot win.

Then I stumbled upon this video on accident a couple of weeks ago, and then went through my replays and noticed that my down-backing would register as just down.

Something like this is GAME BREAKING, and completely unacceptable! It 100% reeks of poor play testing and just not giving a fuck…

Which leads me to my next complaint: The online sound issue.

This may not seem like a big deal to a lot of people on this board, because for the most part everyone confirms hits with combos VISUALLY and with weeklies at Serenity some folks are all like “Who cares about online, tee hee?”.

With my job, I travel a lot, so I cannot always go to Serenity weeklies. So far, my record has been 2 weeks in a row, with a possible 3 weeks this weekend. Before that, it was once a month. So, that means I am stuck with online a lot if I want to practice,** AND…**

…I unfortunately auditorily confirm hits in combos. My ears confirm something *well before my eyes. *

I play Judo and BJJ in a similar fashion. Hell, sometimes when I am sparring in either Martial Art, I look at my opponent’s head instead of his body because my ears and hands have a better heads up on what he is going to do next, than my eyes ever dreamed they could.

So having online sound issues AND randomly not being able to down back makes this game un-fucking-playable for me.

Live and learn I guess.

Downback not registering is a tragedy in any game or situation.

lololololol ft500 in vampire savior?

lol none of these guys live in Sarasota techinically.

I guess the solution is that i will bring my PS3 next time i hit SG so that won’t be an issue.

I need proof that an ABClaunch combo does more than about 380 without extravagance or a glitch.

The rest of your post about your equipment not working right is a pp. They make medicine for that

edit: wish I would’ve watched before just posting. Sometimes when I attempt to forward jump, I’ll end up neutral jumping. I thought it was just me. Go figure. And I play on ps3.

Both of those are gamebreaking.

fuck you man trying to make me learn and shit

Ok. Skull girls. Anyone play it yet at FR or something? I’m thinking only 8 fighters. 8 match ups to learn. Less time than 38.

if you are interested in skullgirls check out the ultrachen tv show tonight at 11. They will have mike z on and are going to be discussing basics and advanced stuff about the game

Is there no backdash in SFxT?

I tell everyone we have late sessions but no one wants to come :frowning:

cuz ur fat

i think that directional issue is only for pad players. that only play on analog stick (no issues if they are using the d pad?) go try it out and see! cuz you know…evo and ps3. “FUCK MAN STUPID DIRECTIONAL GLITCH!”

i like the part where he says “even though some of us like the game” towards the end. this patch also costs $15 buks guys. it makes it a lot better too, it left all the bugs and glitches and gave us more of the gems that we desperately needed. don’t you agree Nobody? ;3

I rented this game twice to give it chance both times I returned it the same day… This game has “Gamebreaking” glitches and loads of DLC on the disc but people still defend this pile of shit of game?

End result I will never buy SFxTekken even if it was $5 in the bargain bin.

Good luck with that post patch Capcom already lost customers
