i’m pretty sure hes asked for people to bring setups if possible to every tournament. and the point stands that at a small tourney like this where the past has shown sometimes we don’t have all the stuff, Drew is not in the wrong for suggesting someone could bring a setup with their patched game if they want to ensure its run efficiently.

real talk adonis got that good through practice mode and theory fighting. No one in the world was really using his character to its maximum proficiency. So he did his best to learn his character in and out based on his personal knowledge. He played online but from talking to him it only really gave him a better idea of how some matches should be played but i had to remind him that online isnt the most accurate measure since some things online dont apply offline. But most of his success has to be given to just good old pmode. Cause like i said before that is all u really need.
Case in point some of you mentioned some of the top american players like latif and wolfkrone, guess what neither one of them got good from having a big talented or even varied local community. They did with practice mode. But given their characters and the state of sf4 online capabilities do you really think online was helping them with there execution or reaction time. Not really if anything all it was really doing was giving them an idea of how some matches should be played.
Even then since online isnt an accurate view of the game it still wouldnt allow them to test a match up inside and out. To go a step further with latif he became an elite gg player with no online and the same limited community. All he had was pmode and it was enough to allow him to win a number of tournaments.
as far as mk goes since that what this is about perfect legend got that good without having a community. He himself said that he got to where he is with just a lot of pmode and research. like i said before in this day and age you have all the information you could ever want on any game and practice modes now a days allow you to test just about anything you could want with a character or situation. Dont complain just shut up and go to pmode. If thats not enough for you it may just be a personal problem.

I don’t get paid for this Mike, nor do I wish to, I do this because I want to see the community thrive and I’m willing to donate my FREE TIME for stuff like this, instead of sitting on my ass going through my backlog like I want to. I understand that you feel you don’t have to do anything if it isn’t required of you, but at the same time you’re not entitled to anything if you don’t do anything about it. Its like kids who expect to make good grades because they’re teacher is supposed to teach them, but don’t make any of the extra effort to understand the content being taught and then blame the teacher that its their fault they’re failing (I’m not sure about this metaphor, seems wonky to me, but it makes sense to me)
If i was making a profit off of the players in the scene, then yes I would say that your post is legitamentaly valid. But im not, I can’t carry a whole scene by myself, and thank god I’m not. Props go out to Adam, Ron and Logan for hosting shit at their places so we can get games going and keep the scene. But tournaments still take alot of time/prep work/ advertisements/ get shit together. All I’ve seen YOU do for the scene mike, is want to take the money from new players after beating them into submission with a gay ass team, its no wonder its hard to get new blood around here.
You’re right, I never asked for help, not once, mainly because I don’t know how to ask for help and then I get in way over my head. Let me just put this out there for you, Turk, whose been with us what 1 or 2 months, has already tried to get up with me about advertising for the next tournament, looking for new ways to promote etc etc and. and I didn’t even ask him and Im gladly going to take him up on his offer. Do I expect every player in tallahassee to jump to my aid because I’m running the tournament? No of course not, they all have their own shit to deal with, However, aggressive posts that attack me when people don’t do shit to help out, I’m not gonna sit idly by and take it.

When has there ever been a tourney without a hiccup? NEVER. not a single god damn tournament that has ever been run in the history of fighting games has there never been a slight issue. If there is an issue, its not a personal attack on you, Its because there might be something That I might have overlooked or anything like that.

This isn’t even the first tournament where MK wasn’t updated correctly. The last one I went to before I left I got fucked because the Kung Lao patch wasn’t there. IF you knew in advance it should have been fixed. Its not reasonable to expect someone to KNOW that gamescape won’t be updating shit. The TO (in this case Drew) should let someone know that the game isn’t patched (no hate Drew I love ya sir, but there was some ball droppin and I’m not talking about Logan hitting puberty last week).
The Sentinel nerf for MvC3 was vastly different and less game changing than the Kung Lao nerf. So that comparison doesn’t do the situation justice.
