well been playing ae and it is really hard to win in that game with characters that use the actual system mechanics. Its so impossible to be lame and there is always somebody in your face its just like wow. and yun is not a real character. Even when he loses you dont really feel like you won…

AE is damned silly. The more I play it, the more I’m convinced I was right from the get go. I play Yun, Yang, Fei Long and the only sense of accomplishment I feel is that I’ve got enough sense to know when/where to command grab or can actually some silly set up that’s damn near impossible to block (Akuma, Cam, Sak, Bison, etc) . I feel you, Jay: all the top characters get to hit buttons with impunity, and chars with real system mechanics get shitted on. Not gonna lie though, after meticulously choosing when and where I hit buttons for over a year and a half, its damned nice to just play a motherfucker and not have to give as much a shit.
This is not the first game that Characters like Yun have existed in, nor would it be the last, thats how fighting games have always been and always will be. We’re left with three options: Pick them up, find a way around it, or just quit the game. Its really simple.
The last one isn’t a real option.
Actually there are not many characters like yun historically. There are usually characters who take advantage of the system mechanics to the fulliest like magneto in mvc3 or 2 and then there are characters that do things no one else in the game can do. Like phoenix, makoto or viper. You cant really get around something when its clear they are playing a totally different game. Im not really even mad at the characters but the developers because most of the time when this happens its intentional. Top tiers that come about because players develop over time to evolve the game are never really broken they are just really damn strong. But when developer try to make characters strong intentionally by the time players get through with them they are throughly broken. And its not good for the game or the community. Because its not a ltp issue. And yeah you could always just use the characters yourself but in the end it makes the game boring cause there is less variety, less diversity and it becomes an issue of not whether you like a character or playstyle but that you are forced into something to compete. This works in other games but not so much in fighter.
Every game that has overly domineering characters of a limited playstyle has saw its community shrink and its influence mitigate to that of a really niche market. Now some of those games are played for a very long time but only within a somewhat small circle. If you want the community to grow you just cant accept things like this and have to ask developer to make good games not just more games. Good games bring more diversity of players and expand the community so that there are more tournaments more players on/offline to play and more life pumped into the scene.

You’d die against anyone worth a fuck for “hitting buttons” trust me. It might feel different because you are used to holding db until someone does something, but play against someone who knows Yun and you won’t get far with those strats. Theres just no top tier representation in Tallahassee. Win a tourny with Fei or the twins and I’ll concede.
And Jay I would say Yun has had historical equivalents. The big four in Marvel come to mind, Chun/Ken/Yun in 3S, Steve Fox in 5, Jin in 4…Yuns not even the undisputed top tier, from what I’ve read Fei is, but I’m just saying.
