The Superman Thread: PREACH IT, goody!

I rather get what you mean, though an all blue outfit wouldn’t bother me since there are some superheroes whose outfit is mostly a 1 colour one (eg Cass’ Batgirl outfit).
Interestingly enough, wrestlers wear a type of pants that is made up of two colors, like the one King wears in Tekken (in Tekken 6, you can let him wear different coloured ones)

So I guess so long as the red part was like what’s in that image I might be OK with it. Please don’t make the stupid mistake of me wanting Supes to be a wrestler or anything, I’m just noting something out =P
For that matter, I personally liked Tim’s red Robin outfit (scroll down)-

Mind you I’ve been, for the longest time thinking up how the red part could blend in with the blue pants, and the best I could think up is it not being ‘overpants’.

If I thought for a second that the new costume would unseat the long-running design (red trunks and all) as the most relevant visual identity of the character, it might actually bother me.

I see it as part of a trend that hasn’t changed: big house editors making random irrelevant tweaks in the vain hope that it’ll magically start bringing the customers back.

George Perez certainly doesn’t flatter Jim Lee’s lousy costume design.

Hahaha, Jim Lee designed it? That’s… very explanatory.

Other things I find, I really don’t think all those lines in the blue costume are necessary, If anything it think it’s them designing it as something the next movie (or superman movie properties in general) can easily pattern over… and I’m not a fan of this reversal

Like whenever i see marvel’s Ultimate Universe patterning of a costume of how a movie adapts it, it just feels wrong to me.

Movie costumes have to pattern themselves on the comics’ costumes or at least use THAT as a basis in it’s own self-reference

Instead of comic book costumes trying to design something that movie producers would think that would work in bringing costume to the silver screen

It’s asinine for me, A Makes a copy of B who tries to Copy A’s original sourced material …Hmmm like the Street Fighter: The Movie video game :open_mouth:

As far as Jim Lee designs go, these lines look like the work of a man struggling to restrain himself.

New Supes outift doesn’t bug me, having Jim Lee draw it kind of does. While I do enjoy the occasional Lee work I dislike when he is put on expected AAA titles and suddenly makes changes. Looks like extreme 90’s police force Justice League, with the segmented plate armour for no apparent reason, and WW gets her like 15th costume change this year.

I’m all for change in comics, but touching costimes? I think universally no one likes that, just look at the god awful mess that is the new Nightwing. Very rarely do you see a permanent change. (Although I was happy to see the OG Nightwing costume go, Perez is good but eck…disco bird wasn’t my thing).

At least the great George Perez did something nice with the new Super Suit, I’d actually be interested in Perez’s run if it’s a long term thing (12 issues at least). As long as he let’s Superman do what he does best I’d be fine, I don’t know why it’s so difficult to write a Superman comic for a lot of people. Even JMS fucked it up before he got bored, left, and wrote Twilight Man Year One.

No. No, no, no, no, no.

That’s not good. That’s not good at all.

The sad thing is that it’s still better than Spider-Man’s new movie costume. :wasted:

I would allow myself to be surrounded by dancers all wearing the new Spider-Man costume, everywhere I go for 24 hours straight, to the constant tune of It’s Raining Men, if they would just fix the damn Superman costume.

Maybe that’s an exaggeration. I fear that it may not be.

That outfit clearly shows they wanna get with the times for the reboot. Only thing missing is the armor and the collar. Hopefully it will look better on film…Def better than parker’s outfit.

Definitely feeling a bit iffy with the movie outfit but for the reboot outfit in the comics im all for it.

Btw preview for the new action comics #1

That’s not good. That’s not good at all.

First off: why are modern comics always so brown?

Second off: while still ridiculous, the t-shirt and jeans have more to do with Superman than the Lost In Space ziplock costume.

Third off: can we please find an artist who doesn’t insist on the red eyes all the damn time? Remember when red eyes meant he was heat visioning something? What’s he heat visioning? Is there an undercooked burrito in the room?

Fourth off: what the fuck? Seriously, what the fuck?

That new costume for the movie makes it look like his sides have gills.

I don’t like the new JLA suit either. :frowning:

I liked all the Alternate costumes in The back, maybe excluding Aquaman, better than what was actually used.

I don’t mind Superman’s outfit, looks fine to me.

Come at me bro…

^lol.

BTW anyone else read Action Comics #1? I thought it was FANTASTIC.

Like I said in the DC thread, not really impressed. I’ll hang in there because of Morrison but so far not feeling it.
