Description of Gameplay Elements: I wanted to focus on a specific theme for this course (my first one). Too many courses uploaded are just a bunch of enemies and random things slapped together. The key to beating this one is having a little bit of patience. Trying to fly through this stage is going to get you slaughtered. I made this using all the assets that became available to me as I used the editor. Took me some time to test this and get it to my liking. Please enjoy and if you thought it was good, please give it a star!
I constructed this to be sort of a traditional Mario level, so donāt expect anything crazy.
I tried to make it relatively fair and even give people a chance if they mess up the last jump. I realize a flaw though if they mess up the last jump that will make it impossible to complete the level if it happensā¦Currently trying to think of a way to fix that.
Edit: Iāll try to upload the others when I get a chanceā¦currently working on an airship level.
My course only has a 1.5 complete percentageā¦ What the fuck! Iām gonna play some of the ones posted on here now and Iāll give you all a star + comment what I think about them.
Beat it on my second try. Pretty interesting concept. I liked the part at the end with the big koopa shell lol. You should maybe put some more hazards on the ground and let the player get one of the new helmet power-ups. Not bad. Gave you a star.
@ReggieHadoken Beat it in like 4 or 5 attempt. I really like this one because itās mostly like a traditional Mario stage. Gets a little tricky toward the end, but itās a good stage.
I watched some friends play my stage and I was laughing because they were dying from the random falling stuff lol. Iāll upload some of my other stages after I finish āDoomshipā.
I enjoy feedbackā¦negative or positive it doesnāt matter. Iāll do the same for everyone elseās stage as well.
@T20thoughts That stage was pretty clever. The music makes it creepy. The only thing I can really tell you is that I think you messed up the way the conveyor belt is moving next to the pipe with the Dry Bones that comes out of it. He got stuck.
@āThe Martianā The Bowser airship oneā¦ I think the firestick at the beginning has to go. I found some secret beanstalk thing right after the two cannon ball launchers but I missed the jump into the pipe. The Bowser fight was cool. Took me like 15 tries lol.
@Zebster That level was perfect. Actually felt like I was playing something from Super Mario world. I ran past Bowser Jr. though
@KaboXx Cool course, but the end is kind of screwed up with the clown copter. I wasnāt able to get through the last part before all the bullet bills and cannons as big Mario and getting through that as small Mario + Bowser shooting at you is insane.
@King9999 Jump Control: Was pretty easy except for the part with the music notes and bullet bills. Good shit though. Pretty clever.
Essentially this was my first try a a semi legit SMB3 Airship level. Tried to give the feeling that you leap onto the ship thatās floating in the air and Bowser and JR are doing their best to fuck you over. Last part was actually far harder and I decided to tone it down. Lemme know what ya think.
I think the way the course was made, was to use the big mario power up to survive a hit, and you the invincibilty to get thru the Bullet bills. Itās actually a course made by my brother. My course is the other simple one known as 1-3.
God damn i got to catch up on all yalls stages, ive only beaten 2
Yep, that was intentional. I was waffling about whether I wanted to make the Dry Bones a timed hazard, so to speak (moving it a little further away and ditching the slow conveyor under it). But I realized that in those tight quarters, the fast-moving conveyor can be a really awkward hazard if you donāt already know how it works. I went for the silly scare factor over actual challenge.
I think so. Especially after seeing kids < 10 come up with stuff even if they arenāt that familiar with Mario, let alone video games. The simplicity of it makes it so you can just go in blind, press buttons, doodle AND THEN start solidifying ideas that you would like to play and create. I had some rough sketches on graph paper before release that went missing and I donāt even miss them or feel the need for them, itās just that simple and intuitive.
The flip side of the simplicity is that you can get lost, and get nowhere with creating levels, and then go online and play other peopleās creations and be content with that. And thatās fun too.
Well I was originally going to do what some other people do, and put Bowser Jr. in the clown car and put the exit pipe on the ceiling so you had to fight him, if only to get up to the pipe (thatās why the room has the pipe that spawns mushrooms), but since I have you fighting Bowser at the end I decided to just have him as a little distraction.
Okay. Well it works out then, because I was jumping around like a mad man trying to get away from it when I saw it pop out of the pipe.
On another note, playing this game has made me realize how terrible people are at Mario games. No wonder the latest official Mario games to have come out in the recent years are piss cakewalks.
