The Super Mario Maker thread - March 9th Update: Keys Finally Found

I hate being negative but I feel like Nintendo took this approach because it’s easier for them in general. They don’t have to worry about 3ds servers and moderate all the “rated M” levels.

I hope there is a deal if you already own the Wii U version. Honestly I think we should get it for free, but a large reduction of cost would probably make me lift an eyebrow still.

Final version of this dang level, I swear. It needed further cleaning up, and another despawn issue was fixed.

Hey guys, sorry for the gigantic delay. I took a break from Mario Maker to do other things, and life has been hectic… but seeing as the level sorting seems to be better nowadays, I’ve been playing again. started off with Debso’s “Tricky Tricky” level, and then moved on to others. Enjoy!

I found out the hard way that if a course gets deleted on the server end, it can’t be reuploaded. This is what happened to my original ◆S-10: COWABUNGA. Apparently it wasn’t popular enough so it got deleted. Sucks because I put a ton of work into that one. I plan on remaking it and making some tweaks.

Since the OP hasn’t been updated in a minute, I thought I’d repost what has been deleted. So deleted courses are as follows:

A short course, consisting of four vertical sections. Due to the length, there’s no check point. There is also less time than usual. The toughest part is probably the first section. Twirl game has to be on point here.

1-1: Here We Go!

I wanted to take a shot at making a world. The idea was to exercise some restraint on my design end. Since it’s a first level, it really isn’t hard. If you collect all the Red Coins, you can enter the locked door and get an amiibo costume.

1-2: Piranha Plant Cave

The second level of most Super Mario games take you underground, so of course I followed suit. No Piranha Plants were in the first course, so I thought I’d introduce them here as if it were a level in an actual Super Mario title. Not a hard course since it’s in the first world, but its a bit unsettling to see that only 3/11 people have completed this one thus far.

1-3: Careful on Donut Blocks

Donut Blocks are used as platforms in this stage but not in a super inventive blow your mind sorta way. The basic concept is don’t stand on them for long and since it’s a early stage it isn’t difficult, (Still not sure why only 3 people passed it, though)

1-4: Bowser Jr.'s Fiery Fortress

Probably the most challenging level out of the first four in world 1, and even then, that isn’t saying much. You’ve got some Fire Bars to avoid between jumps and a boss fight with Bowser’s snotty kid. (WHY HAS NO ONE PASSED THIS STAGE YET?!)

You know that feeling when you find some immense and easy-to-do cheese in your level?

@ReggieHadoken - This is why I always save a backup copy of a level just before I upload. That way, if it does get deleted, I can reupload it with minimal effort.

Also went and did those course deletions/additions on the front page. Honestly, it’s gotten away from me. Probably a bunch more missing there.

The original piranha drama level I made is better than the sequel IMO but nobody will ever know since Nintendo deleted it and I didn’t alter it and save before they did.

I can’t bring myself to remake It because I also put a lot of effort into it. It’d be too tedious.

I let a friend borrow my wiiu but I may finish hot potato, craziest crullers and then work on a piranha drama 3 and then I’m done with the game. I held off on making another piranha drama level because I swore we would get water tiles but nope. :frowning:

Yeahh I also learned that the hard way. My fire fight and flight stage has ben uploaded two times and no love. Guess I’ll look at improving it some more.

With the current playerbase, it’s hard to make people play your stage without advertising it around. Admittedly, I’ve been lax on playing SRK stages lately - I was mostly on hiatus for a good long while, outside of making a stage here and there when inspiration struck, and I’ve been getting slowly back into actually PLAYING the game lately.

If you want to secure your stage’s position and keep it from getting deleted, be sure to toss it at a few Twitch streamers. That usually gets you a couple of stars and enough plays to keep it from the “not popular enough” deletion, and it should be fine unless it’s using glitches or something.

I finally played a bit yesterday after a long while, too. Got through some of debs’s levels. I’ll be playing some more after this weekend and hope to get through everyone’s stages I haven’t played yet, and maybe stay working in another for you guys to try within the next week or so.

Playing Reggie’s S-10 Tight level. Good stuff! I still need to finish my Airship level and record myself beating Shenanigans.

I’m going to take down the special levels I made except bodacious and a couple of other levels I made. I’m only leaving the ones I consider the best out of all of the ones I made. I’m going out of town this weekend so I’ll probably do that sometime next week so save them if you want to, everybody.

I’m going to redo the concept of having an entire level made of coins and blocks so that the player has to alternate between the two using a p switch. Hopefully it comes out decent.
