Two more 100 Mario Challenges.
I think in the next set of vids I do I’ll record me tackling some of the stages in the OP. Aside from puzzle-based stages, at least, since I dunno if the creators want me spoiling the solutions to those.

(My, Goombas and Spinys act quite…atypical underwater.)
Either way, I’ve added the latest two videos to your section, LordWilliam1234. It’s a shame that only about five or six of the stages were truly interesting and at least three of them were just general “griefer” Kaizo stages on top of that. Oh well. What can you expect of humanity?
Speaking of “grief”, it occurred to only a couple of hours ago that the utter potential for no-win situations is among the reasons that midway points didn’t make it in (yet). After all, there’s seem to be next to nothing stopping anyone from putting mid-way points hovering over pits or spikes or assholish things like that.
I expect I’ll be using that Back to the Future clip more and more as I continue with the 100 Mario Challenges.
And I thought Roller Coaster Tycoon was bad in terms of bringing out a person’s sadistic side…
A checkpoint could easily be tied to a block you can stand on, just like the start point, so that people can hit the Skip button properly… You can put a lethal obstacle right in Mario’s path at the start of a level, so a checkpoint wouldn’t really offer trolling opportunities that the game doesn’t already provide.
But yeah. I did a little 100-Marioing of my own on the Hard setting today, and my tolerance for bullshit is very low. The moment I see disorganized enemy spam, or I’m killed by a leap of faith or an invisible block in front of a pit, I’m hitting that Skip button.
My tolerance for multiple Lakitus is also very low these days. Those guys love to randomly put you in unavoidable-hit situations. One level combined two offscreen Lakitus with having to carry a shell really far, increasing my hitbox as well. Unfun.
Mind you, the GOOD hard levels I randomly come across make it worth it.
Alright, I’ve officially played through all of the courses in the OP. Not all of them recorded (since a few I played through prior to recording Mario Maker, so I don’t think playing through them again would be quite the same as playing through them blind), but 90% of them were. I should have at least one set a day up here. I went through them alphabetically by creator them as the OP is set up, so…sorry @Zebster.
Since playing them through course search doesn’t have a life counter to go by, I won’t be cutting out any of my deaths this time. But I have provided timestamps in the description of each video should you wish to skip seeing me be terrible at Mario.
Anyways, first one.
This one features:
@“Dungeonman”'s Dippy mole Mania
@“Intuitive2011”'s 1Frame Jump
@“King9999”'s Wall Jump Practice!, Tight Squeeze and Jump Control
Just a warning to anyone who actually does 100 Mario Challenge:
You’re probably going to run into this sooner or later. So might as well know about it now.
(Also apparently the spike door invincibility glitch was removed in the newest update? Cool I guess, but now stages that require that glitch are unbeatable because they haven’t been removed yet)
EDIT: On the other hand, you can use the same methods to give some blocks properties of other blocks, for interesting effects.
I don’t know why people make levels using a glitch that will eventually get fixed, rendering the level unplayable.
You got your answer right there. It’s what the trolls have wanted, a literally unbeatable level.
(Even as cynical as I am, I choose to use Hanlon’s Razor here: It’s more likely the majority of the trolls are just stupid rather than malicious, though in either case, I doubt most of care that their levels are now literally unbeatable if they even know.
I wonder how many stages are actually affected though and if there’s anyway for Nintendo detect them and, if so, actually do anything about them.)
In any case, I’ve added both LordWilliam1234’s latest video and a link to Zebster’s post about the Invisible Block Glitch to the first post. I can’t help but wonder how many stages are going to abuse the glitch detailed in the latter now, though, and if the same “unbeatable” levels thing will happen depending on how Nintendo deals with this particular glitch, especially given Zebster said that the same type of glitch works with other block types apparently.
That pondering aside, I’ll state that if Roknin posts another video today, then I’ll also add him to the front page if T20thoughts doesn’t beat me to it. I probably won’t be around tomorrow though.
Given that hasn’t happened yet, I figure that I’ll post a couple of videos myself in the meanwhile even though apparently everyone and their mother is putting up videos of this game since October 5th or something:
This is an interesting Legend of Zelda 1 stage that’s probably the most accurate one I’ve seen to date–not that I’ve looked:
https://youtu.be/VlCOtSef5mg
Super Best Friends play Super Mario Maker and, surprisingly, most of the levels they selected to play through are actually good:

Oh, and Game Grumps apparently started playing the game again as of about a week ago after the “Companion Spring”-related breakdown if anyone cares I guess. Then again, if anyone cares, then I figure they already knew, so it’s rather pointless to point out, especially since I’m not going to post it. If T20thoughts or someone else wants to do so, however, then feel free.
Argue on Something Awful did a bit of experimenting with it and came up with a few things:
Oh yeah, I doubt everyone’s encountered it yet, but someone’s found a way to make a password system in Mario Maker.
9884-0000-009F-DDF7
Check it out, download the level to experiment with it, and see how it actually works because it may become a popular thing in the future.
Also, my next level is totally going to use the swapped properties glitch, but not for anything nefarious like just a bunch of blind jumps to invisible platforms. I’ll be taking a second crack at doing a Ghost House. And of course, when it’s eventually patched out I’ll delete it.
Second set.
This one features:
@“King9999”'s Mario Land 4-1, Mario Land 1-3 and Take Flight.
@“Mr Mort”'s Bones, Bombs & Boos.
Timestamps are in the description as per the last one.
When breaking through the blocks with the spiny shell, you can blow through them either by spin flying or by holding an object and then flying.
Monty Mole Gang’s Mountain
8CBC-0000-00A7-22EF
Concept: Thought process is obvious that the mountain inhabited by a gang of Monty Moles who don’t take kindly to you being on their Mountain. Why is the gang so eager to keep people away from the mountain though?
Course will probably cause a few deaths…very mild amount of BS. Not as intricate as my ghost house or my airship level. I wanted to make something fairly straight forward.
Third set.
This one features:
@“po pimpus” Scrub Pimpus’ Fire Castle, Battleship 1, Kamek’s Haunted House, and Boo Chasm
@“ReggieHadoken”'s Jump Man, Deep Blue, Cloud 9, Koopa Keep, That Brat’s Castle 2.0, Jump Man 2, and Now Entering Mole Country.
Made a simple stage as I just got my Wii U two days ago
6DC9-0000-00A5-C0F6
No I’m not trolling. It is … simple…
(I’m going to need your stage’s name when you get the chance, @Autocrat1.)
That said, I’ve added you to the first post like everything else that T20thoughts and I have put there. You’re first now due to it being in alphabetical order.
Fourth set.
This one features:
@“ReggieHadoken”'s Cave of Fire and Ice
@“roknin”'s Last Door, Left and Kamek’s Party Castle
@“Rugalitarian”'s Piranha Plant Paradise and Thwomp’s Fortress
Good play through. You found all but one secret, an alternate route. Was that your first crack at it?
