The Super Mario Maker thread - March 9th Update: Keys Finally Found

Yea, mine aint that hard. I’ll give you a cookie if you find the secrets doe.

So the music for Airship in SMB is pretty gdlk. Especially when you are in the editing.

Finally beat Tight Squeeze. It’s the last jump that mostly gets me if anything. I can get the third fairly consistently now. Working on Jump Control and I’m almoooost there.

I like the SMB underground music in the editor. So good. I think the editor music in general is great.

SMB Underground editor music is my favorite. So freaking jazzy.

So if you screw around on the title screen, touching the letters, stuff happens. All the little things in this game are awesome.

Also, I in one of my deaths, I feel down a pit and I heard some cartoonish sound effects. You know where the character falls for a long while and then splat? I wasn’t even mad because it was so unexpected.

You guys should check out this reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/MarioMaker/

You can learn some cool tricks from other players. Also, someone re-created the levels from Super Mario Advance 4 that were accessible only through the e-reader.

EDIT: the e-reader levels are here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MarioMaker/comments/3lapod/lost_super_mario_advance_4_ereader_levels/

Welp.

I said it once, but I’ll say it again. You kids better not disappoint me.

I have 6 stars so far on my ghost house…feeling pretty good right now!

Might try to go for a semi standard SMW level now with the new tools and see where that takes me.

I love SMW mechanics. Throwing shells up and flying and shit. Plus Yoshi. I’ma make another one this weekend, too.

I think you’ll find that making levels is extremely fun, even though the palette doesn’t include every single thing from the 2D Mario universe. Looking forward to playing your levels LW, because we all know you’re going to make some.

Helpful tips from Reddit. The highlight for me is this:

If you have two Yoshi’s already out in a level, any third Yoshi egg becomes a mushroom. If you are big, the Yoshi egg becomes a flower. If you have the flower, the Yoshi egg becomes a cape.

So you put two Yoshi’s out of reach (i.e. trapped in the ground below) and voila, the third Yoshi egg in a block becomes your item, which changes in a traditional manner.

This is just what I was looking for.

The fact that the enemies in the NSMBU style are animated at 30fps instead of 60fps is gonna bug the living heck out of me.

Aside from that it’s fun so far. I just wish I had all the pieces already so I could work on the one level idea I had.

The animations in NSMBU annoy the hell out of me too.

Has anyone gotten to try my “Bowser’s Sky Pursuit” stage yet? I’d love the feedback. I want to make more stages similar in style, where it feels like a side scrolling adventure with something chasing you throughout the stage.

Making a boo level with NSMBU engine or w/e you crazy kids call it. Going to blow your assholes up and you’ll be going [details=Spoiler]

And uploaded a new course.

Another sort of puzzly stage, this time with a mechanic shamelessly stolen from another level I played.

That level being “Escape from the moving walls!” by Adolfo_Official - 6F03-0000-0043-7CBE

Mind you, I did something different with it than that guy

I don’t think I’ve tried out any of your levels yet T20. I thought I had everyone followed but I guess not. I will have to fix that when I get the chance.

Edit:

I’m also realizing I haven’t made a legit NSMB style stage yet so I may have to do that after I get the SMW one done. Current name ideas I have for stages are Monty Mole Gang’s Mountain, Dropping the Hammer, and Wiggler Parade.

Edit 2: Also a stage with the WIP name of Boo Buffet.

Is making invisible blocks an unlockable option at some point?

I’ll just leave this right here.

yes. Part of the Ghost House pack.

Yep. I think it’s the second-to-last unlock.
