The Super Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread

Second only to V.Rosso and Eliza

Joke aside if i must pick two chars that enrich each other i will say

Hugo/Poison
Necro/Effie

Gief/Mika works great too, but more on Mika side tbh
Gief can stand on his own legs as a SF legend and got already layers of concept.

Mika will have made a great tag team with El Fuerte too (instead boring/irrelevant Nadeshiko), they could have made a fun dynamic with him dreaming her boobs and her just having eyes for her hero Gief
It could have even triggered in Elf to have “defeat Zangief to win Mika” the mission of his life LOL

I like also Fang/sidestory girl as long she become just an NPC as Effie for Necro, don’t let the waifu crowd push to have her to replace a great unique SF char az Fang pls

Rufus could have gained some charisma too if they showed more of him as a murrican biker with unexpected super hot cowgirl GF, instead having him babbling 86% if the time about “kenmasterr” nonsense

Ash and Elizabeth do not work as a couple. They’re better as a mischievous but well meaning imp of a character (I think Ash is great) and an older, more mature sister figure.

Ed and Falke
fuck that. Ed + Menat is the way to go.

Adelheid and Rose is creepy
but they’re Bernstein’s so it’s fine. Adelheid is also an AWESOME character that should be main-roster in KOF.

K and Kula are a good opposites-attract pairing.

Iori doesn’t work with anyone except MAYBE Leona weird as that sounds. However, you know Vice & Mature tag team him for kicks
and it’s probably CRAZY bloody.

Cammy and Abel have the sexual chemistry of a buzzsaw and a plank

Watching the Falke trailer again, it occurs to me that it looks like her moveset was designed around her holding a rifle instead of a staff. A lot of her moves look like how you’d smash someone with the butt of a rifle, and she straight up fires it like a rifle in several moves.

I’m curious if maybe she didn’t originally have a gun during development and it ended up getting changed to a staff later on?

If so, then good on them, because I don’t want a gun wielder in SF. But some of her moves still look odd.

Her normals are very melee, while her specials are very range.

I think they didn’t, She might be intended to be a Doll but because of the negative reaction we ended up as an amalgam of the several dolls that have gain possitive reaction and appreciation, I think that is also the cased of Menat.

I think the whole Neo-Shadaloo gimmick wasn’t even intended during SFV vanilla.

@YagamiFire

Agree Ed and Menat is a better ship. I like Ash too as a character, I dislike him in his debut but the later games when he messed up with Iori and the roles he does in MI, he becomes an interesting character, just dislike the way they end him up with kinda complicated and shift on his character personality.

I think more than anything her projectile techniques mimic the use of a rifle to show she got a western/militaristic approach to her own ki

It seem to me a clear intent also overall, to show shes not the classic “kung fu” staff user

@The_Shakunetsu

Ash grew on me very quickly. His design is striking and I have a history with painted nails (though not my own). Also I really like his Guile-ish playstyle. His personality took a little longer for me to warm up to but, like you said, he developed into an interesting character pretty quickly especially when you realize he’s being an a-hole because he’s trying to do good
but does it on his own terms. He’s a good wildcard style character without being “lol so random”

I really wish that they stop that edgy “country unknown” cringe. It made sense for Ed and Kolin but the rest of the new characters haven’t gotten countries of their own. Falke being from a German lab isn’t going to trigger anyone.

I say this as a Arab but Rashid’s country can’t really offend anyone. From his design alone we can tell he’s from the UAE so if Capcom can’t decide out of Saudi, Kuwait, Qatar than just say UAE.

At first I dislike him kinda like K and Chris mashup but he improved real quick in the next game. I like Ash’s mischievous personality its quite an innovative role in fighting games that time that is exciting to follow of what he is up to the next game, not another cliche with forced and stage badass impression. K started up likeable and mysterious in debut but doesn’t ended up bland in 2k and later titles.

@DarthEnder
I think the whole season 2 was intended to be different but undergo a lot of changes that’s why we get different approach of silhouette and also the flowtron stunt/gimmick in the FGC scene so that anticipation would be part of the equation to the success of S2.

Zeku’s Strider gimmick was another of making up with the disaster in Evo having other FG decent guest characters like Geese

Nowdays I even doubt his extra costumes prediction, because Capcom could have scrapped the idea and would have do slow gradual release of those.

I do think that the S2 characters were changed at some point, probably in response to SFV’s reception and some of the controversy (Mika, Juri) it would explain some of the weird design choices and changes like parts of Kolin, Abigail.

Capcom learned much I do applauded them for that even they do re released the classic costumes, the problem was when Capcom tries to be someone else, ride the trends and experiment thats why we ended up with those kind of Ibuki, Nash, Alex, Akuma, Ken, Guile and Juri defaults that loss there meaning and original design intentions.

Capcom’s new Artist and writers should always look into the original artist’s design intentions before reshaping the character visual and personality to avoid alienation and a character being meh. Like the recent Ryu in MVCi.

Even the DLC stages redone was very good.

@tazyrylipo

S2 are full of weird inconsistent design and naming

  • Like ED being different and younger from Cinematic mode.
  • Kolin being named differently and look differently
  • Akuma change drastically far from the SF3 version and contradict CFN art
  • Abigail contradict CFN art, inappropriate posture and animation problems.
  • Zeku changing physical form(He may even be Gen’s apprentice in the beginning because of the changing styles) -just my speculation.
  • Menat which I believe done correctly because of time design and numerous design inspiration available in public eye with those type of design from gameplay and visuals.

There was no Neo Shadaloo in Cinematic mode other than the original Ed design.

@Deviljin_01 Can you please merge this thread with the new sticky thread pretty please. <3

I don’t know how long it takes to develop these characters, but I imagine quite a bit goes into all the arrangement and resource allocation, so with that I don’t think they could really just dramatically change their plans like that on short notice. I mean if reaction to some things were negative, I could imagine them changing up stuff for the future seasons like s3, but having a sudden change after S1 release to change s2 seems a bit quick.

Stuff definitely changed through the production (the inclusion of Cammy), but that happened early in production well before release and I’m not sure they suddenly decided to make Zeku after reaction from Evo.

Could be wrong, but I’m not sure if they’d change things based on reactions so drastically and quickly, I don’t think Capcom as it is now has the man power to do something like completely scrap characters and make whole new ones within a few months well into production of a particular season.

I think that’s because Capcom are trying to develop their characters the best they can in SFV, to the point they make some retcons to the SFIII events, where Akuma still looks as the man we know since Super Turbo and has the same Ten kanji. I feel that there will be a remake of SFIII eventually, with a slightly different roster and a real storyline.

Cammy and Abel are a pair?

Cammy & Juri and Cammy & Decapre are more of a pair than Cammy & Abel, those two never even shared a scene together.

Falke’s movelist is online.

There’s no difference at all between the Japanese and the English version. Both feature German, although psycho is pronounced as in English in the Japanese version. In short, it’s written ゔむコ saiko instead of プă‚čィホ pusiho as it should be if they treated the word as German; understandably, as the difference in pronunciation between English and German is so great that it would confuse Japanese gamers.
That said, on with the translations!
The German orthography would require Ă€, ö, ĂŒ and ß, but they are respectively replaced with ae, oe, ue and ss when the correct characters aren’t available.

Wirbel Wind is “whirlwind”.
Luftstrom is “airstream”.
Windstoss, correct German Windstoß, is “gust of wind”.
Staerken, correct German stĂ€rken, is “strengthen”.
Psycho Angriff is “psycho assault”.
Psycho Trombe is “psycho tornado”.
Psycho Impulse is, well, the same. :stuck_out_tongue:
Psycho Spitze is “psycho top”.
Blaukraehe, correct German BlaukrĂ€he, literally is “blue crow”. It’s an alternative name for the Blauracke, aka the European roller.
Luftjagd is “air hunt”.
Psycho Kugel is “psycho bullet”.
Psycho Kanonen is “psycho cannons”.
Psycho Feder is “psycho feather”.
Psycho Schneide is “psycho edge”.
Katapult is, well, “catapult”.
Psycho Schrot is “psycho buckshot”.
Psycho Panzer is “psycho tank”.
Psycho Jaeger, correct German Psycho JĂ€ger, is “psycho hunter”.
Psycho Sturm is “psycho storm”.
Psycho Klinge is “psycho blade”.
Psycho Fluegel, correct German Psycho FlĂŒgel, is “psycho wing”.
Gametricks featured the correct German pronunciation.

Even though I wouldn’t usually pair same-sex characters, I’ll say that CammyxAbel seems like a crack ship and would rather have Juri or Decapre.

Real talk here: Capcom never had the manpower for much of anything, even in the beginning which makes them all the more greater for the great feats they achieved. I doubt big changes were made to S2 and if they were, then they were made during the early SFV release in response to things like R.Mika’s buttslap, any changes after were minor like Kolin being having a different facial structure in ASF and Ed having a slight departure from the ASF era Ed.

We don’t need to re-tell SF3 because that is SF3! Yes, I know some retcon will be made in regards to characters like Necro, Alex and maybe Yun.
Especially since the anniversary collection is coming soon, people can just play the SF3 series, in fact that’s the only reason I’m getting the thing just to play NG+2I as I already have the rest on emulators or PSN/XB arcade

True, a remake of SFIII isn’t really unnecessary as it would make SFIII completely pointless story-wise, but they should still touch a lot of SFIII plots and change some of them for the better.

I think that we’ll get something akin to SF4/V, where the character might recount a event from SF3 but in a different way like it’s Vega telling Chun-Li of her father’s death rather than M.Bison, The circumstances in which Chun-Li met Guile is different from A3.

We’ll probably see the non SF3 characters get more involved, more emphasis on Urien and 12, and the odd Shadaloo/Neo-Shadaloo popping up.
I’d say the major characters in a post SF3 era from SF3 that will get things changed would probably be:

Alex-his role in ASF and the link with Gill
Necro- G project will put him in Chun-Li’s/Guile/Cammy’s eyes and be some sort of “refugee” helping them out
12-They will probably link to Nash in some way like @Daemos said
Q- @Shockdingo is shaking
Yun/Yang- The link with Chun-Li from CVS2 and SF4 as well as Gen’s death will put them back in the limelight
Sean- Laura+how he met Ken have been revealed he’s gonna get retconned so bad
Ibuki- link with Karin/Sakura
Urien/Kolin/Gill-Urien Self-explanatory

Falke just join the group of SFV chars with obvious nations but listed as bullshit “unknown”

Too bad, because official nation char increase the chances of official nation stage, and i want that stuff in SF
 that stuff IS SF
