I don’t think it was a perfect episode just because of the fact that it yet again involved Donna acting nothing like she has been portrayed in the past, even during stressful times.
The Donna of 3 seasons ago would’ve bitchslapped the current Donna. The writers need to understand that giving her some vulnerability isn’t the same as making her a retard.
I also agree that they’ve lost their ground because the show is as much about interpersonal drama as it is about lawyering. They’re losing steam because they’ve exhausted all the resources they built in their premise, and manufacturing random personal nemeses will start to become a bit contrived.
That being said, I still liked this episode, though Harvey’s reluctance near the end was hard to fathom. 99.99% of straight men would’ve devoured Donna in that moment.
I believe Harvey’s walking out. Only reason why they slept together in the first place was because technically they weren’t working together. It is a rule Donna made. He is respecting her by honoring that, even when she is at a vulnerable point at the moment.
His legal record without Donna is 1-0. 100%. Whatchu talking about?
I didn’t realize it was the season finale until the very end, but it was pretty dang good. I pretty much liked everything about the episode. They even had time to squeeze in some Jessica moments even though she did nothing. But it makes sense since she acknowledges the fact that she’s not thinking clearly so she isn’t in a position to mentor. I loved the “Norma scenes” and having so much of the episode on that story line (to me) fits in with how absorbed all their lives are to the company. It’d be hilarious if they wrote “In memory of Norma” at the end of the episode, just to joke around. Something I really liked was the real tension happened in the last episode. It left the actual season finale to do whatever they want. They didn’t force any huge dramas to loom over our heads. Donna’s case is gone, Forrester’s case is now completely done with, they even showed Rachel saying yes. Donna quitting Harvey isn’t that big of a deal. They’ve been building her connection with Louis for so long and Norma’s death sealed it since the beginning of the episode. Plus, there’s something you guys are forgetting - Donna doesn’t date the people she works for. Now that she works for Louis…
Mike always getting his ass saved and bailed out has really thrown this series into a stale existence. If they don’t change up shit soon I foresee that the end is near.
The end should be near anyway. Everyone pretty much already knows his secret and there’s only so much mileage you can get out of the show if you just make it a normal Closer Procedural. Better to prepare to wrap it up with a solid ending than let it drag on too long.
