You shouldn’t feel pity anyway. I mean I guess because he can be likable but he chose to enter the job in the first place knowing the potential repercussions.
They’re big boys, they know the consequences for getting found out. Pity is wasted on those who know that.
Either it won’t last and Mike will become a lawyer again, or he will do some investment/financial stuff involving the firm. I hope for latter to happen since that would change the show’s dynamic to some degree.
I just don’t want the formula to become stale because the majority of every episode being about keeping Mike’s secret or interoffice betrayals. I want change, I want see to some different cases being brought up, and I don’t ever want to become bored to the point I actually stop watching.
Well it’s simply an inevitability that eventually something will happen to make the show stale. The only way to ever avoid that is to finish the show in a timely fashion. And usually a good 3-4 seasons is ideal.
But the thing is…while yes, seeing Mike constantly in danger of being found out gets old really fast…seeing Mike with absolutely NO tension in his life makes things even more boring.
Basically, I like the show but I know that they really have only one more season of decent interest left in them before things fall apart creatively. If the USA showrunners are smart, they put a lot of resources into this next season and treat it like the final season. I don’t want to see this become another show that runs too long and suffers heavily for it.
While a lot of it has been Mike’s secret and interoffice betrayals, they’ve also set the stage for a lot of stuff. People who hold grudges in Tanner, Harvey’s old boss from the DA (forgot his name), this new black guy (though he’s not REALLY that formidable, just a pain), that former partner Jessica was talking to in the last episode, etc. IMO, they have enough ammo to last 2 more seasons with mini arcs, filler eps, and you know they’ll do one or two more flashback eps.
The company’s past is far from spotless and there are a lot of people holding grudges. Plenty of old enemies and definitely new ones to pop up.
Side note: I really have no idea why Katrina is there other than being Louis’ lapdog. Louis is has been likeable for awhile. She doesn’t add anything to the show or the dynamics of the characters.
Suits future aside, I don’t know what Katrina brings to the table. I’m glad she’s not another love interest for Mike, but she would make for a great rival to him instead (which I thought was the initial reason for her being). The showrunners seem to be stuck on using her sparsely for whatever loose reason they feel like bringing up.
Her and Rachel are getting off to a better foot though, maybe we’ll see more development for her on that end. Pair her with everyone else and see what works best.
tells Rachel that he’s conflicted about the job offer and firm stuffs.
gets picked up by attorney people about stuff from the Hessington case, but bailed out by Harvey.
Rachel finds out about some more of Mike’s backstory stuffs regarding Harvard.
Harold panics to Mike and both are taken in; Woodall tries to break both of them down/pit them against each other.
tells Woodall that he’s got nothing, which is Woodall’s play to turn nothing into something.
has a confrontation with Harvey, who offers himself up as a scapegoat.
after things have resolved, tells Harvey that he’s decided to take the job offer.
Harvey
asks Donna about the question about his relationship status with Scottie to Donna.
finds out about Mike’s situation and helps him out and meets Woodall, who is gunning for him.
runs into Allison Holt and finds out about Harold’s current standing in the situation.j
stuff with Scottie is somewhat mixed up due to Mike’s situation.
runs into Quelling and exchanges in a push/shove match, and the topic of how things came to this juncture.
goes with Louis to help out Mike… and Harold.
tells Mike about his backstory stuffs and scapegoats himself to help Mike.
he and Scottie separate, though he tells her about Mike’s situation.
after things are resolved, though Woodall has his eye on him, Harvey accepts that Mike has taken the job offer.
Jessica
finds out about Mike’s situation (roundabout) and how it affects the firm.
has a bit of a run-in with Scottie regarding business/personal stuffs, which prompts Scottie to consider leaving and augmenting her non-compete clause.
tells Harvey what happened regarding Scottie, though the decision is yet to be finalized.
consoles Rachel and waits with her for the guys to come back.
welcomes Harvey back after the ordeal.
Donna
alerts Harvey to Mike’s situation, after prodding about Harvey’s Scottie situation.
does recon to find out about Woodall’s game plan; which is to bank on nothing to get something done.
sees Harvey’s push/shove match with Quelling and talks to him about it afterwards.
has some words with Scottie about Harvey.
after things have resolved, a somber celebration is had with Harvey, in regards to Mike’s decision to take the job offer and Scottie’s departure.
Rachel
wants Mike to make his own choice about the job stuffs, without her influence on the matter.
finds out about Mike’s Harvard stuffs, the knowledge being a bit hard to process.
worried about Mike, but Jessica consoles her.
happy to see Mike after things are resolved.
Louis
initially in the dark about Mike’s situation, as a result of Harvey not being present for a meeting.
eventually is updated about the situation and wants to help out; goes with Harvey.
idea is to have him (Louis) help out Harold, despite their falling out. channels his “inner Hardman” at Harvey’s behest.
makes his way past Woodall to meet with Harold and gets him to rescind saying anything about the matter, and things are resolved.
great episode. did feel like a bit of a mid season ender, but i liked that it went out with a fizz, and not a super bang. we have been overloaded with hits to the face this entire season. time for suits to get back to some “fun in the sun”. i expect before mike ross leaves, we will get a couple fun episodes of his last moments as a lawyer. i wonder what mike is going to do with his new found power and money. he is making almost mid 100k now, and hes about to be a millionaire at his new job. i wonder if theyre going to downplay his new riches, or put a hault to him at his new job before it even gets started.
honestly, i could see jessica stepping in soon to let mike go anyways, if he didnt leave. mike is too much heat, even for his own self. lets see if mike is too good for his own good again at his new job. donna was looking good this episode too. im surprised harvey told scottie about mike, that is going to bite him in the ass later somehow, and was fairly unecessary unless she stays. i wouldnt have told her shit, scottie can always kick rocks. i disapprove of harvey being head over heels for this broad, its embarrassing.
My guess is that Jonathon Sidwell ends up being underhanded and shady thus inevitably pushing Mike back to Harve. (although technically he never left). Sidwell isn’t a confidant, just a partner, and he only cares about profit and prestige in the end.
Something about Donna this episode made her look even more attractive than usual.
Agreed. Donna is hottest. Rachel has her moments, but Donna has the attitude, looks, and personality.
I think it’s funny how they are all treading but never really stepping on their ethical lines, but are fine with hiring a fraud. Jessica especially forces her “I stay within the confines of the law” even though everything Mike does is illegal.
What a fucking episode. I literally could rewatch it right now back to back and still be hype. This is going to be one hell of a fucking season. Suits is the god damn truth. (passes out from hype)
Before I get into the nitty gritty, I gotta say this first- Mike deserves to be cockslapped for trying to claim his secretary is better looking than Hot Donna. Initially, I was looking at Rachel in season 1, but now she might as well be invisible with Donna around.
I knew Sidwell was going to cause ethical problems for Mike, but I didn’t expect the issue mounting in the season premiere. I know he will be the season’s mid-final boss though.
The moment triple P’s brother said " I always heard you were good…" to Jessica, I already knew he was banging her. Speaking of which, Laurence Fishburne is a lucky bastard, that body of hers is rockin’. Dem hips don’t lie.
The season has started strong, and I’m glad that it didn’t devolve into another Mike v. Harvey issue. Let’s start looking outward.
