In retrospect Marn vs Combofiend was early MvC3 and it was a slopfest.
Whoever said that comeback was more hype the Wong vs Yipes is brain damaged.
One thing I got to say, people don’t give Noel Brown enough credit. It was really his commentary that made the comeback more hype than it actually was. That and many still thinking then that Sentinel pre patch was broken tier while Spencer isn’t that good of a character.

People think Combofiend vs Marn is better because it just looks more hype with all the dramatic effects etc, plus you have the atmosphere of the crowd. If you don’t know anything about MvC2 you won’t understand how much of a bad situation JWong was in.
I opened up the link and notice it the top YouTube comment was:
Everyone in that room was so impressed by the Sentinel comeback that they just ceased to move.
I was like, WTF are they talking about.
Watched the video, saw the final match, I fuckin’ bursted out laughing.**
honestly making a Comeback in MVC3 isnt hard especially when scrub-factor is in the game
Technically, it can be because just the same way you cam kill an opponent so easily, you die as easily, plus opponent has ‘scrub’ factor as well.
But yeah, there are better MvC3 comebacks regradless.
combofiends comeback is better because its vs marn. if it was against anyone else, it wouldn’t have mattered as much.
Who cares?
No one is actually talking about either.
No one really cares.
you guys care for coming in and commenting
MvC3 just doesn’t have MvC2 hype. Some if you need to stop acting like it does. In MvC2, pulling off a hard combo, or a tricky reset got you cheers. I swear unless top players are playing, MvC3 is just a bore fest, where the crowd is silent to the very end, unless “X top player beats Y top player”
yeah its true MVC3 has “Fake” hype

The “streets” are stupid and so is this fake gangsta slang bs.
lol
lol… people please shut up. MvC2 had so much hype because it was YEARS into its lifetime and lots of tech was implemented and players had a significant amount of time to polish their play and were technically sound. MvC3 is a year old, 5 months old if you consider UMVC3 a different game (which in many regards, you should). Around this time in MvC2 people still were bitching about Iceman, didn’t know about the rom loops and many other infinites and hadn’t developed the meta game. Many players are still doing week 1 shit in UMVC3 while a significant portion of the population are still spewing erroneous bullshit “Dante sucks, Wesker and Doom are top 3 characters, Zero combos are impractical.” The hype from this game now comes from people doing shit lab players know about that tournament players haven’t seen before (see Kusoru v. F. Champ with Frank West tech) because a lot of players, even top players, aren’t fully exploring characters and team compositions.
On the topic of Combofiend’s comeback being more hype… that’s just plain stupid, but at the time it was understandable because people thought Spencer was such a throwaway character (consistent with the fact that at this point hype comes from new revelations rather than plain exciting gameplay/moments).
I think it’s a no-brainer that coming back with a mid-high character (used more or less just for Assist purposes) against two of the God-Tiers and the one of the best Assists without any kind of damage or speed boost is more impressive.
They’re both amazing comebacks though.
To be fair, Justin’s comeback wouldn’t have happened if Psylocke had used her super.
Of course comebacks don’t ever happen unless the winning player makes silly mistakes like that. Justin’s comeback was more exciting to watch because… Well, it’s Cyclops man.
Yeah, same with Justins Akuma comeback vs Haggar and Wolverine. If haggar finished his combo or if he didnt do the super he wouldnt have gotten demoned. but thats the same thing as “if Justin didnt do random super against daigo daigo wouldnt have won” We dont know that, and it seemed to be a good idea at the time. (chip Daigo with a hard to parry move.)
