SFV has put us in some good times indeed… they’ve been hard at work… here’s a video found from reddit (EX_PenaltyKick) showing the goods SFV has done, or out of touch. HATERS LEFT BEHIND:
Urien is good, but other than LOL Aegis stealing rounds from me, I don’t have too much problem with him. Which really both Aegis’ have to hit for him to get a real round steal. If you block out the first Aegis he has to really work that second Aegis or else. 4 frame lights means I don’t have to be butt clenching tight with my strings to pressure him and it’s easier to jab and trade him after he blocks my overhead and such. Once I get him knocked down I feel pretty comfortable.
It’s mainly the Rog players that just grind my gears. Like if they’re a Super Plat Rog I have to worry and even if they’re a Platinum Rog I still have to play them really seriously and can’t loosen up at all just cuz the character. They don’t have a DP, but they’re pressing that 3 frame light after fucking everything you do so your shit has to be tight or else. Screw up your meaty and 3 frame into target string is smacking you up.
EX dash straights being plus on block I’ll deal with because, you know offensive character needs to pop shit off. Whatever. The EX dash grand blow is just stupid though because you can’t walk away out of it since it’s a low hit so it basically punishes you for playing footsies. Don’t move in and out of his way in neutral while he has any charge at all or your legs get clipped and if he has V Trigger active RIP. Which means you have to crouch block or somehow preemptively neutral jump to avoid it. Both which put you in shitty situations that let him dictate the neutral.
I just don’t see how they thought a half screen low hit being minus 2 was a good idea. Oh and his V Trigger which basically you have to block or V Reversal the entire thing to not die from it. Even if you somehow block the long ranged low to activate it, then block the first sequence, if you get caught by the second sequence oh well your ass is in the corner with a loss of 30 to 40 percent. Then you take another EX combo and a throw and you’re dead somehow.
I think I’m cool with everyone else. Necalli is still stupid, but whatever at least he doesn’t have frame 1 DP anymore.
I liked because fuck Necalli and I still have no real opinion on Rog because the only good Rog I fought was that player named Dnyce from NY and I don’t even think that’s his main
I know shit gets real when a Rogs starts canceling their EX Dash Punch on first hit + Juggle Combos. Luckily 85% of Rogs can’t do his real damaging combos and/or drop the ball due to online.
Urien needs to be calmed down but he’s ok. Ibuki is Ibuki. Cammy might get hit again…I can feel it.
Edit: IF Helen can punish shit in ranges Karin can’t and/or has easier hit confirms in those ranges that’s my 3rd waifu
After having run the gamut in this game as far as using characters is concerned, I’ve come back to Chun. She isn’t the most effective, but she’s the most fun for me.
I finally have put myself into the shoes of other players as far as urien is concerned… I see what people mean now about ex tackle… so fast… lol.
But I’m still meh. Other than aegis, like DJ said I don’t feel like urien is anything super special. He’s annoying to be sure and really good. But I generally think I’ve been outplayed when losing to one.
In fact I’ve come pretty decently full circle in this game.
The only characters that still really bother me are ryu, birdie and Mika. Other than those characters I have fairly stable game plans against most of the rest of the cast.
I mean I still lose to every character and sometimes badly, but I’m not at a loss for what to do in most matchups anymore when coming up against the flowchart.
The only flowcharts I still don’t know how to deal with are the characters I mentioned, maybe fang since I never play against him, but I’ve been making good progress against him when we do play.
I feel like Laura’s a bit overrated (though still really good). I feel way more comfortable
bobbing and weaving against her than I do Rog or Urien, a lot of her shit at leave leaves her open if you can guess rignt, unlike fucking Rog who for some reason can slam into you like a frieght train for a third of your life and corner
carry while also being safe as fuck. Absolute horseshit.
Also now that I’m out of the High Silver/Low Gold range Ken seems to have gone extinct, kinda surprising.
I honestly think people are mostly complaining about Laura because the hype around the buffs made more high-level players pick her up. Most of the stuff people are complaining about is stuff she had in season 1 when she was considered low-tier.
Be scared of high level Ken. Nothing has changed. Don’t let them lie to you.
Akuma is funny in SFV. In SF4 you would shit bricks if you saw a demon flip (I know about the previous games but SF4 had the Vortex that gave people heart attacks +stHK), in this game I just cry…I cry the entire match until a VT is popped
Yah. And the “solutions” offered did not make much sense to me, either. One minute people complain about random pokes (which did not look very much random to me in the video that started this conversation), then the next minute they want pokes to be even more random with lower risk. I have no idea how that can be achieved without either 1) fewer recovery frames of the attacks, or 2) lower hit stun on defender. Both options will lower combo potential and satisfaction on hit, but will encourage mashing. I suppose then people will complain about randomness and lack of combos. Add easier throws some people seem to want (really?), the game would become a slug fest where people will constantly press buttons than reading the opponents and counter. Sounds like a frantically paced Marvel game, not a SF game that I know of.
Unrelated question, but: Is MKXL worth picking up solely to dick around? I’m not really a competitive person when it comes to NRS games, and I’m definitely going to wait for a price drop for I2. As a fan of MK9 I’m just wondering if Lord Boon’s divine grace will ensure my enjoyment if I play MKXL?
She was good in season 1 though. That’s the disparity. I said Laura was good whole way through S1 and everyone else was like OMG Cammy! Now Laura players are like “yeah but that’s season one stuff” like season one stuff was bad.
So they go and give her ridiculous Ex command grabs that go through a third of the screen in 6 frames when the games got 6.5 before it reaches your eyeballs.
I’d rather fight Urien than Laura as well to be honest. But I thing that just me having some kind of mental block against characters like Laura or Mika, I really hate that shit.
