The Street Fighter V Lounge: We all gotta chill 'til the end of April

Eh think it’s something that should per character…like if ryu is going to be as w.e as he is now…his normal DP probably shouldn’t be CC’d…

Lol only universal things I don’t really like is the priority system and some weird hitboxes on moves…rather like the game outside of that…

I think the problem people have with it isn’t necessarily how it is as a wake-up reversal, but how fast it recovers in neutral. It’s 35 frames total, which isn’t unreactable by any means, but is still pretty fast in regards to getting a proper punish on it if you aren’t actively looking for it (at least when combined with our 6-7 frames of input lag).

It isn’t OP or anything but I can see why people would be annoyed at it for that aspect considering it’s also fully invincible for 16 frames.

One thing about Urien vs Karin I’ve noticed is…if we do not have our light light Tenko combos locked completely DOWN, the match is severely in his favor. You can go for a tick throw but then there’s a chance you’ll get hit by EX Japanese Wizadry so it’s really important to practice her light light combos in regards to punishing tackles

I wonder if it would be a terrible thing if we had to burn vmeter for a CC punish.

Ironically, I haven’t had an issue with EX Headbutt since I saw Twinblades blow it up with a full CC punish on block in BL. Never bothered looking at the frame data and it does look way safer than it is. While it does recover faster than average, it seems to have more blockstun than normal depending on how deep you block it.

Now if they spaced it from farther out ok then maybe it needs less horizontal range. But I really don’t see a problem with that move.

EX Reversal that loses to meaty jab too strong for SFV

The “issue” is more if it whiffs. If you block it, it’s really easy to punish (it’s -13 at best, and with the frames of block-freeze plus 5 frames of recovery you’ll have no problem reacting here), but if it whiffs, it recovers really fast which makes it difficult to punish it properly on whiff if you aren’t used to seeing it (plus the 6-7 frames of input delay).

I still don’t think it’s a problem but I get why people are annoyed about that aspect of it.

I just want it to have a vaccum effect so that everyone would be able to CC punish it. For example with Mika, more often than not my F.HP would be out of range to punish it.

They increased the recovery on Chun’s EX SBK and adjusted Rashid’s and Karin’s so that they aren’t crouching during recovery. That tells me they wanted everyone to get CC’ed heavily so Urien is no exception.

You know what I totally forgot about the fast whiff recovery. Ok, I’ll admit that’s it’s dumb and hold my L.

However, not only did you get him to successfully waste a stock, I’m not the opinion that every whiffed or blocked reversal needs to be blown up for a full punish every single time. Most will strongly disagree though.

I say let him keep it.

I think meter and V-trigger management and awareness is even more vital now, especially in S2. If a character with a safe metered option has it I personally think it’s not that hard to bait for 90% of players into using it and then blocking it. I’ll quite happily sit now when Urien/Rog etc has meter and wait to block the inevitable hale mary, then either V-reversal to steal the momentum back or just hold the block string til I’m out. It’s like a turn based game inside a turn based game - “ok they’ve burned it - now we can play again”

You can’t really blame the players that have these moves for using them like that since that’s primarily (right or wrong) the design choice. A big “fuck it” momentum stealer. You’ve just got to fish it out of them.

Both him and Gill are Mediterranean/parts unknown.

It is not the worst thing ever . Out of the things that are obnoxious about Urien that isn’t that high on the list.

He will still get clapped anyways

LOL, this guy in the Twitch chat.

Urien is probably supposed to be named ‘Julian’, like the Roman emperor (Ἰουλιανὸς). He and Gill are vaguely Greco-Roman.

This is a very smart strategy to use. Unfortunately… it’s also a very obvious strategy.

The game breaks down at this point because there’s not a really good way to punish people for “just blocking” when they think a v pop cancel is coming.

The only direct way to punish is to dash or jump in while they are waiting… it that’s just more sfv stupidity “have to do something unsafe to punish defensive opponent tendencies”

I long for the days when I could just st.hp people to death with Chun in A2

I understand Urien is top tier and pretty much the best character right now, but I feel like we are getting to the point where people are complaining about every little thing with him, even the stuff that isn’t actually that bad.

Not only is this attitude not healthy for the future of the game, it’s annoying as shit. In the end you’ll just end up with characters like Nash and Ryu who get over nerfed and then the whining just moves on to a new character.

I agree. It’s like people learned nothing from all the kvetching about Ryu, Nash and Chun-Li last year.

You’re realizing this is Shoruyken.com

To be nice, Urien is strong as fuck but he is beatable

I don’t think that Capcom looks at this thread or this forums anymore. If they did they would have brought me that skin tight spandex Chun suit.

And brought me that Juri swimsuit.
