Kanzuki Beach was banned because it gave unnecessary advantage to specific characters compared to others. There is no character that can really take advantage of Skies of Honor more than others. For those who don’t suffer from motion sickness you can barely feel the effects of the stage, it only happened to me once in a full ft5 set.
Kanzuki Beach hasn’t been banned from online since its release, so I don’t see them take any measure about Skies of Honor concerning online anytime soon. However like with Volcanic Rim players in tournaments might just be able to ask if they can pick another stage than Skies of Honor.
It wouldn’t take long to program a way to remove x or y stage from the random selection or to force people to play on another stage if one of the opponents doesn’t like it. But as you said it’s Capcom…
It’s pity that cool concepts like Skies of Honor and Kanzuki Beach make people uncomfortable, meanwhile over saturated shits like India stage remain fairly viable tournament wise.
I think these picky bastards just want a rainy stage in middle of a meadow, you can tell, they would literally just spam it like they did training stage.
In the teaser showing Akuma in the stage shown there is grass very visibily being blown to one side by wind. This gives me intense vertigo please ban this stage capcom.
Actually I think that stage is horseshit too. That and anything with a fucking bear and fireworks.
The only stages I think I decent/tournament viable are -
Bustling Side Street
City in Chaos ( a personal favourite - I like the music)
Forgotten waterfall
Kaz Estate ( both versions are good)
Union Station
Hillside Plaza
Shadaloo Base ( prefer Night version)
Air Force Base ( just makes it, it’s bright as and not as good as original Guile stage)
Outside of that anything else is bollocks. Both the Russia and India stages are horrendous and easily my least favourite, possibly ever.
Soft bans are fine. Like some local TOs have said, they’ll just let the players be gentlemen about it and respect people’s preferences.
I know for me I usually ask my opponent if there’s any stage they prefer since some are too bright and/or dark for them. I don’t have any problems with most of the stages.
If you’re concerned about your favourite stage not being allowed at a tourney, you should also probably just check with you mum that it’s ok to be out until 7pm on a school night.
All they have to do to fix the problem is just make the plane fly straight and I think all problems are solved. But of course Capcom had to go and fuck it up by making the plane turn 45 degree angles, making the background rotate, all while keeping the players walking straight with no affect on them. That is the main problem. Some of us, our brains see things turning and that tells our minds that “hey, these people should be falling to the left due to gravity” but then that doesn’t happen and that is why it fucks with us.
Like when the plane is turning, and you jump the way the plane is turning, while in the air you don’t even see the plane anymore but the background is spinning - in my mind the player jumping should just like fall down farther due to gravity. And I know that due to the rules of the game that will not happen, but logically, it SHOULD happen. Completely fucks with my mind.
While we are in the topic of stages I think the story mode stages should be available to play in VS. Night version of City in Chaos, the bottom level of Lair of the Four Kings and stage FANG fights Mars in are cool.
