Or just more range. I mean, at a distance he has stand fierce and stand roundhouse, both of which have some pretty serious flaws as neutral tools. Maybe stand short if you’re feeling generous, even if he can’t get anything off it when used as a poke due to lariat hitbox shenanigans. If you want to stretch it even further, I guess the knee counts, sort of. He doesn’t get Alex’s, Laura’s or Birdie’s approach options, so why not at least give him a solid long range poke to give him something to do mid-screen other than walk forward? Some match-ups just seem like he can only really wait for Trigger because he has no way of approaching.
Or at least a Mika tier fuck-you-in-the-corner game when he actually gets you there. Would also make bear grab more useful as a corner carry tool.
We had two local Gief-players: one that constantly takes huge risks and churns butter whenever he has the chance, and largely wins on opponents reacting too slow or doing execution errors (he also plays Hawk). You would lose games to him on occasion, but if you knew what his plan was you could just sit back and let him kill himself.
The other one, Veggey, was likely the best Gief in Europe. Basically a moving wall that spent his entire game trying to make you push a bad button he could punish, and once you did, you died. Made for some really interesting footsie games.
Online Gief was no fun to play against though, I can agree with that. All of them played like the first guy I mentioned, except they had the lag to help them.
Smash is a good game, whether you like it or not; it’s just a different beast.
The Smash community is full of pansies so I just laugh at them and move on.
The only torture is the TOs who don’t seem to get that Smash should be the final event at tourneys to prevent the constant delays for other games. People who bash it can just ignore it, and we still get our events, everybody wins.
…except the people who want to swim in the pool, I guess.
I like to think Balrog is fighting for somewhere between 8th-12th spot out of the entire roster. His poor defence is where he falls short, everything else is pretty good.
I like the auto qualify for winning major tournaments. The pro tour should reward winning huge, it’s hard as fuck to win they deserve it.
Capcom needs to stop listening to all these mid and low tiers players who complaints are not all valid.
I really don’t like the idea of making the pro tour easy. The prize is **change your life ** money it shouldn’t fucking be easy to get in at all.
As a spectator I don’t like mid tier players campaigning for less rewards for players who actually put in the work to compete at the highest level and get a top 3 placing.
