The Street Fighter V Lounge: Tron Bonne rumored as DLC

Ah ok yeah I had a good couple ranked matches with him. Does he main Urien or he uses a launch character for tourneys?

He mains Laura, he probably had some fun with Urien for a while like most Laura mains.

You could do it if it didn’t grab you from like half screen. I noticed some birdie patterns in block strings and can neutral jump those, there’s another one where he’ll do a command grab then on your KD frames immediately EX dive as you get up - I could reaction DP that, but regular random mid range reactions is hard. If he didnt have a billion other gimmick tools then it would be easier.

I played a higher level Birdie player that would bull horn ( that charge DP type move he has) through fireballs after I threw them, shit was amazing, can catch you from a fair distance too, like two- three character lengths.

I actually find high level Birdie play to be quite fascinating. He’s not some 22 hit combo character so it’s like watching someone mash big buttons really well. Having the special awareness for can/food set ups just seems really cool to me.

I’m like ā€œJesus he just used his overheads like 4 times how is Daigo being hit by this?!ā€

The ex dive has terrible recovery and only works in a specific spacing so the idea is more so to know when you’re in the spacing to be EX grabbed and be ready to read or react with a neutral jump, DP or button. If he’s within throw range of you it will whiff and if he’s too far out midscreen it will whiff.

Usually what i do is I’ll just occasionally neutral jump in and try to react to EX flash with a button in the air as that can stuff him trying to grab you on the way down. Walking forward at him and pressing a crouching LK or MK usually works as well as that can low profile you under him and can help push you inside the distance of where it works.

I just st.lk that shit when I’m Chun

You can bait it though with back dash. It’s a throw so it goes through iirc. Walk into range… Backdash, walk into range, neutral jump, etc

The spacing that it works at is pretty big but not HUGE.

But tbqh I don’t ever get pissed off when I’m hit with that move. It’s not a move that someone can just spam so I take a hit or 2 and keel going. Getting hit by the regular one makes my blood boil though cause that shits spammable and it means I’m starting to get outplayed.

Birdie is basically a long ranged grappler. He reminds me of Glacius from KI where hes constantly forcing you to deal with things that are unblockable at the brink of human reaction. His shatters are 25 to 26 frame start up ish which are technically reactable, but the amount of frames you need to first visually see the light that telegraphs the unblockable are pretty short. Leaving you usually in the teens or less if you’re already thinking about and reacting to other things.

In order to fight him you have to preemptively be in good spots for your character so he can’t condition you into situations where you will get punished for blocking or staying grounded. Banana and can are like the hail locking you down to leave you less space to escape shatter unblockable

Birdie makes me cry as Mika.

@itzpookiie will tell you Birdie isn’t a problem for Cammy ;^)

Balrog nets me so many stupid wins because nobody seems to know the MU

That’s because people are afraid to use characters without reversals so they won’t play him to learn him.

Dunno why but casual is so much more fun than ranked.

Not any more. I can’t really justify investing time into a game where I’m going to be a version behind the relevant portion of the player base more often than not.

It’s sad when Xrd is so poverty on SRK that you have to ask in the SFV thread. Probably better off finding someone to play KOF XIV with and I don’t really see the people in that thread actively playing each other either. They just kinda talk about it.

DJ don’t worry about XRD. You have focusing on winning matches Daigo wouldn’t lose atm.

People don’t run as much because there are no points. Seriously, half the grind of ranked are people going ā€œit’s no fun if I lose my poooooints!ā€ after one loss instead of seeing it as an opportunity to up their game and learn something. So you get smurf accounts, ragequitters and people who refuse runbacks.

Seriously, whatever you may think of KI, the ranking system in that game is leaps and bounds beyond SF. You don’t fall in rank due to losses unless you’re at the top level (but you do rise and fall within every specific rank), high ranks force you into running entire sets, and in order to advance a rank you have to beat people higher ranked than you are. Also, ranks reset with regular intervals so you actually have to be able to win consistently and not just grind it out over a long period of time.

Dude people let me get away with so much murder as Balrog. I mean I’m just a lowly silver, but no one tags these target combos on block even though they’re like -6/-8…

Xrd has that problem everywhere. Dustloop is a ghost town and threads on other forums are slow. The problem is that most of the players fucked off to discord or skype groups, and it’s lame to ask to get in one of those. Makes an already small community have this ā€œsekrit clubā€ sorta vibe on the internet, and that doesn’t help people trying to learn.

Thats pretty much why I hate thiis discord shit man. Isolating communities even more. If you want SFV shit you have EH, Faqs, reddits, and based SRK. Then you have the sekrit documents comrade.

Unfortunately, these companies thought having a niche fighting game series for a niche genre on one Platform (Even if it may come to PC) was a good idea, in addition to selling ANOTHER version of the title splintering the playerbase even further from casuals who bought the Vanilla version (Xrd).

Yeah, on my actual account I just cba to go above Ultra Gold. I get way faster and better games in casuals. Day off work and I’ve gone 20-1. Of course I lost to Birdie, I keep losing to him. -_-
