I think a start to simplifying it would be to limit the regions in which you can accumulate regional points. Let players accumulate global points for regions outside of their home region, that way people will still travel but simplify the boards.
In part, the amount of global spots that are given out will vary depending on how many repeat premier winners you have, diversifying the global pool wouldnāt be a bad thing.
Premiers, Rankings, global rank, premier spot lost if player already won another premier, regional final events which require other tournaments to qualify for, online events, Last chance qualifiers etc
Pretty much the way itās tiered causes the confusion and players having regional points in multiple regions is part of the problem. Eliminate that, and donāt let infiltration win everything at the beginning will go a long way in clearing things up.
Last Chance Qualifier is an open-bracket tournament set in the Region that the particular Regional Finals are taking place. Anybody can sign up for participation, but only two will qualify into Regional Finals. Takes place the day before Regional Finals itself
Dash distance bug/tech⦠Just tested it out with urien and can verify if works:
Neutral jump buffered dash on landing has 1.8 squares of distance. Same thing but with downback held during the dash and you only get 1.5 squares. Unfortunately not enough to REALLY switch things up, but this can be useful knowledge for making sure you get the most distance on your dashes, or shortening their range to make them slightly less susceptible to wiff buffers.
what yāall think?
this isnāt a bug, youāve been able to cancel animation transition frames for god knows how long in capcom games.
Bison makes great use of this in SF4 as it allows him to do stuff like dash into buttons that will hit you but if you attempt to check him your jab or w/e will whiff if he doesnāt hit buttons.
Nice find Dime. I think itās definitely relevant for any characters whose combos will whiff off the shorter dash. Iāve actually noticed occasional inconsistency in my dash-up combos in training mode, so the next time that happens Iāll be sure to check if this is the reason why.
As for using this technique to avoid whiff buffered pokes⦠well, itās certainly **potentially ** useful but when weāre talking about a spacing difference of .3 squares I donāt think itās something the average player will be able to make good use of. Just too much other shit to think about in neutral.
Iām sure somebody insanely skilled like Xiao Hai could make use of it.
