the way how its working out in sfv is that i am against it right now…at least when its handled the same ways as in sf5.

i even made a list once for myself with good aka perfect match/ok aka little rollbacks/bad-aka unplayable connection for matches against pc and ps4 guys so that i dont judge based on a “feeling” but on facts…and the ps4 matches where the ones in which i had the majority of bad and “ok” matches.

First of all, you’re not forced to play PS4 opponents. You have the choice to exclude them from all your online activies if it isn’t working out for you. So the presence of crossplay can’t harm your own experience, it’s just an additional feature that is given to everyone.
And second, the main reason PS4 opponents can be bad is because many of them play on wifi. But this usually causes occasional lag spikes, not overall bad matches. There is nothing inherent to the console to PC connection that makes the lag worse, especially with UE4 that natively supports cross-platform multiplayer.

From what I know KI crossplay is working fine. The game is a pain in the ass to configure on Windows but that’s another story.

I have 90% of good matches and upgrading my connection only improved my situation.
Since lag spikes are something that happens occasionally, there is no way to prevent the game from telling you that indeed you have a good connection with your opponent when you connect to him unless he’s having a lag spike in that very moment. There is no magical solution to that issue, you’ll either eat rollback or delay depending on the netcode. You can do something like MKX where the match ends if the ping is too high for an extended period of time, but it is highly exploitable - just start downloading shit in the middle of a match you’re losing and boom, free ragequit.

just because i set it to pc only doesnt mean that all these people are avaiable via matchmaking.
the majority of them will be occupied in matches against ps4 people. and due to that i have to wait
longer since the actuall free playerpool is smaller.

Would be pretty odd that I’m on the lucky side 90% of the time, isn’t it? And I know for sure I’ve been on the lucky side for a month before switching to fiber, but before that I was usually the one getting lag in lounges.
Now that I have 1gbps fiber I’m even getting Mexican players in MM with only very slight rollbacks. So if you have a better connection you do have more chances of getting better matches.

thats a aditional thing which makes it smaller i agree…i mean i get matched with us and korean guys in sfV with a 5 bar notification from time to time…so the game compensates that XD

the filesize per second doesnt mean much when it comes down to fighting games.
there are other factors with your connection which can give you trouble.
i can get a faster connection by the same provider but that will not change my ping.
i already upgraded to a faster connection this year…didnt improved anything.
packet loss seems to be not a issue the last time i checked it…
