As a former Mahvel fiend, I remember those days. Not sure it was the final game, though. I know it would pull in more views on stream than SFIV at tournies, but I remember SFIV always being last regardless. Maybe my memory is shaky.
There was definitely a good amount of tourneys where Marvel was the closing game during its hey day. Especially during Vanilla.
It also headlined local stuff like WNF and NLBC for a while. Like for at least 2 or so years people watched those local events for Marvel, not SF.
Now that Marvel is dead, the only thing that can stop SFVâs reign is Marvel 4 or the Unicorn flying from the sky that will be Riotâs LoL fighter or whatever the fuck.
Oh and Injustice 2 will bring a lot of casual smasual views and decent tourney turnouts for like a few months.
Doesnât look like fake at all. X-Kira was first one that found that stage transitions are coming. I trust him more than some random guy on reddit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CE5tEPqe25k
Edit: Based on YouTube data sources, X-Kira might of been the first for the stage transition revealing. Killbox101 unintentionally revealed on around the time too at a later date.
Another thing, I remembered some things about him during the beta crack times. He used to keep teasing stuff, but in the end of the day, a lot of the results were very minimal and didnât alter much. Even the mod (or mods) of that thread was pushing to close the thread during the beta, since it was nothing but teases from him⌠and the moment it was mentioned, X-Kira then kept pushing more about he was going to release it really soon, which he did. The release of his work turns out as expected from a few people that it was pretty much a âmodifiedâ beta 2 content, even though he said itâs a beta 3 or 4 release. Granted, there was effort put in⌠but the word of mouth was very shady. At that time, it was best to just work with the older beta 2 leaks and not mess with the X-Kira stuff.
The only positive stuff I remembered from his release was making the India stage work properly, and Iâm not even certain if it involved replacing stages like most of the other âstage replacementsâ patches at the time. Afaik, changing the string names of the prefix stage names (hex editor) on the loader files in the stage folder were enough to make it work. It just took a lot of time. Also, the PvP .bat script. Imo that was the most memorable thing he did at the time, and that was actually well praised.
End all? I wouldnât worry too much. Visit mod forums or stuff if you want proof if itâs there, and ask for source. Iâm not sure how true the Dubai stage is, considering the Thailand stage is confirmed⌠but seeing as no source is available, I wouldnât believe it.
