I never said anything about “SF sucking”, I merely pointed out that SFV is pretty darn unpopular here, to the point that the most “active” fighter at the moment is a super-niche airdasher which few people outside the FGC have even heard of.
I don’t like anime games, but I didn’t think once about talking shit about their games in their threads. Sadly they don’t think the same. SFV and GG aren’t perfect games, pointing out their faults is useless. Git gud.
I don’t know how active the Euro scene for anime games is but in America it’s dead as shit. I got the last BlazeBlue before CF and played that shit for months. And I’ll tell you finding matches in that game was like trying to find a white crayon in a pool of milk.
The lobbies in that game were fucked too.
Xrd was more active then BB but I still had to initiate the ranked search as no one ever hit me up. Lobbies were at least more functional but there were bearly any up. Like I’m clicking on China just to find a fucking lobby and that shit is whack.
I’m still gonna cop the new ones because I love fighting games and if all else fails I’ll beat my sister so I can feel like Justin Wong. But anime games are fucking dead on arrival.
On the subject of the worth of fighting games:
I got my $60 so I’m good but Capcom didn’t make a big deal about how SFV was gonna come out. We knew because we are the .1% that gives a shit about some guy named Knuckle Du but most people could give two shits about E-Sports.
No arcade mode + 16 starting roster = this game is shit I’m going back to SFIV!
That being said I know what the game plan is so I feel somewhat reassured that by 2018 this game will be the tits and well worth my entry fee.
People don’t talk about their games in their threads so they just come here to see other people in civilization. We’re the only populated colony with more than one post in an hour
Tekken used to be fairly big, but everyone started hating Tag 2 after a while and nobody wants to touch that game with a ten foot pole anymore, it seems. No other 3D game is even close to getting tournament attention, mostly because our scene isn’t big enough to sustain more than maybe two tournament games at a time.
T7 will probably revitalize the scene somewhat, at least for a little while. Not sure how it’ll work out in the long run, maybe that becomes our big, mainstay tournament game, or maybe the scene just dies down to its current levels again. Who knows.
Not that I really care, I’ll probably just stick with bringing my 3S/ST-setup with me to tournaments and casuals either way.
