Highs are near useless in high level tekken. My friend in the states was at one time one of the highest level players in the states at tekken. He’s not that good anymore as he’s old, has kids, works at riot, can’t practice as often etc etc
He once very futilely tried to teach me tekken for around a month before I quit. One of the things he told me was that he didn’t like strings that ended in a high attack. To my noob ass I was like… “Why,they are usually plus on block” he didn’t explain the reason to me but over the course of our next 200 games or so played on multiple days, he ducked the high and launched me with basically a 100% success rate on every string that ended in a high. Didn’t matter if we played 10 games and I never did a high, that 10th game I would get launched.
Highs suck in tekken in general unless they are one hit. If they are 2 hits and end in a high they might as well not be on your movelist. They are useless.
he gets 3f normals
cr.hp is back to beta 1 form
teledash is 3 frames faster
inferno is plus on block
and every psycho powered attack (including mp and fp) does 10% more damage.
then after capcom cup, Gameplay Bison receives none of these buffs and only gets nerfs.
@Dime_x Well yeah a lot of the more telegraphed strings that have highs will be ducked just like the telegraphed lows will be blocked and punished, it really depends on the string.
String didn’t matter. If it had an attack before the high, it got ducked. I tired the quickest strings I could, find that weren’t left>rights with Nina, and he had a 100% success rate.
Another different best friend with insane reactions once told me he could duck any st.rk on reaction… I didn’t believe him, he didn’t believe that some people couldn’t do it.
So we sat there and I just did random right kicks sometimes waiting 15 or twenty seconds between right kicks…
He was able to duck every one of them on reaction without fail.
Now of course in game it would be different with having to look at spacing and movement and all that. But mark my words that high moves are simply VERY hard to use at high level without going for a ride.
The only reason people can say this is BECAUSE SF5 was released when it was released. “Waiting for Tekken 7 to come out whenever the hell it wants” is a privilege brought to you by SF5.
Can you imagine If Capcom “took their time” and waited 5 years to update SF like SNK and Namco have done with their games? What the heck would the FGC be doing now? Playing KOF14? No. Playing Revelator? No. Playing USF4, a game that people were just itching to drop like a bad habit? Doubtful. Watching Smash and Pokken take over EVO? YUP.
SF is pretty much the glue that keeps the traditional FGC together (and growing) when there are no new NRS or Namco games. There is a definite benefit to being consistent with annual content. That benefit is GROWTH.
Here’s what I’m visualizing right now:
After the SFV finals at Canada Cup, Ono/Combofiend/Capcom rep comes onstage for a reveal. A trailer plays for a “November Update”, announcing Alex/Ibuki’s nostalgic costumes and a SFV arcade mode to go with the release of the arcade version of the game. The hype culminates in a Thailand stage where Bison is the final boss. But, the trailer doesn’t end yet. To go with Bison’s place as the final boss, 2 Dolls (Probably Decapre and Juli) are announced as being playable in this update and get the slots above Juri and Urien. The real update will hit November 1st (next Tuesday).
Possible things that could happen instead:
-The slots are for 2 surprise characters, built using the amount of time Capcom had after finishing Juri and Urien. This opens up the possibilities quite a bit, and could be Akuma, Necro (Halloween stage), Sagat, or any number of characters.
-Bison could get a nostalgic costume to go with the new stage; other characters like Juri, Balrog, and Vega could get these types of costumes too.
-Season 2 teaser is dropped, similar to the silhouettes we had for Season 1.
wtf…would capcom have waited a year to flesh out the game and released it feb 2017 we would have another season of usf4 which wouldnt be that bad in my book.
