Yes there will be EVO JPN
Do you think because of EVO JPN, there will be less international players attending EVO USA from here on out?

Same amount I would say

I thought that was something to go alongside the US EVO, not replace it.

I always remember playing against him a few times and realizing “Wow does this dude block?”

I honestly don’t know how to answer this question. For one, I did not attend evo and two outside of local tournaments I never been to any real tournaments. No majors or anything like that.

But if I had to answer I would probably say less. I don’t think it will be far less but more like 3k-4k instead of 5k, but if season 2 is hype enough it may very well be possible that this years attendance could be eclipsed at EVO2K17.

Who knows what the future holds.

Isn’t EVO Japan a separate event? Like there will be 2 EVOs next year? That’s how I understood it.

Anyway, I think more or just as many people will go to EVO next year.

EVO JPN is seperate from EVO US
2 EVO events a year will be fucking CRAZY

You should be crossing people up, not getting crossed up.

What the fuck?

He was a champ among champs. His only way in was neckbreaker or jump and there was no way to deter him from that path. A real man with conviction.

EVO Japan will not replace EVO USA as far as I know.
It’s a separate event.

As for the numbers, I think next year there will be more people attending EVO. SFV and Smash will remain strong as well as Guilty Gear. Injustice 2 will have a lot of players (new game). Marvel will fall off a little bit more, but all the 3D FG fans will get a new game (Tekken 7) and the KoF community has a new game as well. So I would say there will be more people overall, maybe just slightly but I don’t see why there would be less players with a game roster like that.

Keep in mind there will be 2 more games officially publicly released for EVO next year
KOF and Tekken
(Injustice 2)

How many of you are thinking of attending EVO 2017 after EVO2016?

How crazy would it be if EVO JPN was in Feb-Mar and then we have EVO US in June?
That’s INSANE

Oh ok so it is 2 separate events.

Yeah more people are going to be at the US Evo than last year still I think. It’s gonna happen. The Japanese still are just a small portion of the player base at Evo and I’m sure some will go to both Evos.

Dude I’m a fucking scrub, should be no surprise I get crossed up all day long

Less.

First year hype, I don’t think as many of the players will make it out for the second time. A lot of people probably did it because of the timing to “do an EVO” like our resident @LordWilliam1234

It will still hit over 2k. I’d expect anywhere between 3-5k with 5K being a seriously good turn out, just like this year.

Right but isn’t it also cheaper for EUR to travel to JPN than USA?

The deal with Evo is that it has grown every year since the first one. The tournament has had 15 of straight growth. As for SF5, I’m thinking that even with the comparatively low numbers, being on ESPN is a huge deal. Unfortunately I don’t necessarily think that the scene is growing in a positive way. The explosion in SF entrants in last year’s Evo and this one has made it seem like the other games are lagging behind. The truth is that those games are having great numbers compared to what they used to be in the past. People compare them to SF numbers and now Smash and think those games are struggling when in fact they are really healthy. Could they be bigger? Probably.

Safe bet is that there will be more people. The tricky part is trying to assess if the other games will grow. I would be really happy if numbers stabilized but the other scenes got to add an extra 100 on each of the games. Ever since Smash other games don’t get as much shine as they used to at Evo.

Do not berate yourself with derogatory terminology (I consider the term scrub derogatory).

Just learn from your losses, improve and become the best player you can be. I haven’t even seen you play and I know you’re capable of becoming more than you are now. You know why? Because we all are.

I’m a pleb

If there is a higher number of people at EVO I hope they arrange things better. They crammed everything into one room despite having a large venue to work with…and while it was a large room, it still felt kinda cramped when trying to get to each game.

Still better than Final Round though.
