I’ve been wanting to get into another FG for a bit now, but I’m having a hard time deciding between GG:R and KoF14. Does anyone know the differences between the two games?
I could easily make a topic about this rather than post my question in a thread about a game not even mentioned, but I don’t want to make a topic.
KOF 14 isn’t out yet so it’s hard to say exactly how it will play, but it’s basically what would happen if everyone in SF could run and technically glide in the air (small jumps/super small jumps) with less overall normals per character and a lot more meter systems.
Guilty Gear is an anime game so not as much of your SF knowledge is gonna carry over there as it would for KOF (which even then KOF nuances are quite different from SF).
Just buy both games and play the one you like more more often. They’ll both be decent games from what I’m seeing. Just hopefully KOF 14 won’t have garbage dump netcode.
Dunno if i’d describe KoF14, or any for that matter, as SF if the characters could run. For starters the combo/normals system is completely different. No mediums in KoF.
@NupoChromine just visit the KoF forums niggas there are hella helpful.
That’s why I said less overall normals per character. The basis of the game being ground based and still being based around zoning with longer light normals and projectile games with some characters does give it elements of SF. It’s definitely more related to SF than GG is.
It’s not too far off from Fatal Fury Special with running and small jumping which that game is considered to be very much like SF2 in how fundamentals are applied. You can take a lot of what you learn in neutral game in SF and apply it to KOF.
Yea the KoF thread here is pretty good with folks interested in expanded the game to newer folks.
If you have a PC I would recommend you get KoF13 when the steam sale comes around. I got it for less than 5 bucks almost a year ago and it’s pretty good.
I prefer KoF to GG because I don’t like true anime fighters it seems. Love marvel but couldn’t quite get into GG for a lot of reason I won’t get into.
The execution barrier in KoF13 is a lot higher than SFV though, be prepared for a lot of motions that seem rather pointless on the surface.
eh i dunno. I’ve just heard guilty gear praised from everywhere. I’ve never played both games so my opinion is bad though. I also have a bias against GG because i’ve heard KOF has really really hard execution in comparison to other fighters which i’m not a fan of.
From what I’ve heard, kof14 is much more simple to play than kof13, at least on an executional level. That’s good cus I wanna finally be competent at KOF, only one I was OK at was 02 but even then I was basically playing N groove CvS lol.
That’s good to hear Some of the characters seem dope as fuck in 14. I’m looking forward to it. It looks like meter management seems a bit more streamlined as well.
This is why I play also. Seriously SFfags should just play Leo. He’s like the best person to get a feel for that game with out all the bullshit anime stuff getting in the way
If everyone and there mother here loves GGxrd so much then why on earth can’t i ever get a match online in that game with a EU person ?
The game is awesome, it really is but it is super niche. If you have a limited amount of money and want to invest, i would really advise against getting it.
Honestly it was fucking hard as shit finding matches in GG/BB. BB was the worst I couldn’t do lounges in my own country because God knows why? Could barley find niggas playing and when I did it felt like I was playing Chinese niggas. And the glitching was fucking stupid. I’d be fighting someone maining Jin and then I would attack him an the Sprite would change to Azerel lmao
GG wasn’t as bad but when a match connection is so fucked that I can’t even see the animations from our attacks…
