The Street Fighter V Lounge - McRibs for the good, The Purge of 2016 for the bad

Because this is an NRS game, I’m expecting everyone’s Aquaman to look the same…

My first thought when I saw the trailer with all those auto-armors:

Sounds like some Soul Calibur stuff. I think in 4 you got gear with different powerups and online had the mode/option of fighting with the custom gear.

Sounds very gimmicky. Even for NRS. It’s fine I guess, if you don’t care about the competitive replay value of your game.

SPACE THUNDERCATS!!!

Yea I guess this would work for a game from NRS where very few take it seriously anyway. To me it kind of fundamentally takes away from what a fighter truly is. I can see myself buying it though when it gets cheap and fucking around like I did with the first injustice.

Brackets for Taiwan Fighting Major are out. Yours truly is in Pool E with Kazunoko, Nishikin (plays Necalli), Reiketsu, and Chris Wong (top Nash player from Hong Kong). Reiketsu bodied me on stream last year so I’m looking for revenge. Hopefully we’ll cross paths. Wish me luck.

Good luck man, I remember when my pool dropped. First I was in with nobody I heard of/people I was running sets with the previous day. Then the pools changed like at 2 AM and I woke up staring at Tokido lol.

Not sure if that’s quite the case. You can throw a lot of money at any fighting game, but if it’s not a game they care about being competitive in it only goes so far. I mean we all could just be playing League of Legends right now since that has way more tournament money and stream viewers to donate money to us, but we haven’t all jump shipped to be pros at that yet.

KI and MKX have had plenty of money thrown at them. Warner Bros has dropped big money bombs on MK9/X at times larger than anything you could get from a CPT event. People aren’t coming out to win it like that though. This is especially considering WB has more than enough money to blow Capcom/Sony out the water with a prize pool for MK if they wanted to.

With KI both Justin Wong and PR Rog were playing KI heavily during the first season when there was no extra prize pots or anything for winning. Just pure pride and basic pot. They dropped the game by the beginning of season 2 and even though Microsoft started throwing money bombs into some of the tournaments (granted long after they initially stopped playing) that couldn’t bring J.Wong back to the game. It did supposedly bring PR Rog back at some tournaments, but he hasn’t won 1st place money and not even sure if he made top 8 in anything recently.

I’ll buy it because I love DC characters and I know I will probably enjoy the story mode. Beyond that, I’ll probably get bored of it in 2-4 weeks tops. Same reason I still buy MK. The entertainment value of these games is good albeit short-lived, but if you like competition (And I do) they will never satisfy you the way only a Street Fighter game can.

any idea on when i can log in again? still down for me…

If the customization aspect is meant to be used in competition as well then my interest in it just went completely out the window.

If it’s more of a side thing like Soul Calibur, then it sounds neat.

The Gear system reminds me of Variations from MKX.

I actually went to bed last yesterday instead of staying up all night pot smoking and shit posting. I’m so proud of myself.

Good work, Spinning Beat!

whoaaaa, i had my etheret in my xbox, hella drunk last night. alright, back to fighting…

They may as well give up on making “real” fighting games. They pump so much money into Evo and 99% of their consumers don’t care. I would think of it more like a DBZ game.

Although I’m always up for another round of “NRS community upset that street fighter players dominate their game”

Competitive players always do the same shit with stuff like this.

Smash items, turn that shit off. SFxT gems, don’t use them shits. Tourney players don’t like RPG and action game elements getting in the way of the competition and neutral game and they’ll always find a way to play without them.

If you’re somehow forced to play with geared up characters, you can imagine that NRS players will just keep playing MKX instead.

While NRS games have issues unto subscriptions, Injustice was a fun game to mess around with and to casually play with friends who aren’t deep into fighters. I could see myself picking up the sequel for the same reason.

Never buying an MK game again though

My money is on NRS being smart enough to include some sort of tournament/competition mode with standardized character load-outs.

mortal kombat peaked with UMK3. after that the series isnt that good
