People loved to call El Fuerte brain-dead in Ultra but that character was all work and guesses. Instead of blaming their own reactions and decisions, it’s just easier to blame a character with obvious flaws and deride him.
What Fuerte was was random. It was all guessing with him. Not brain dead in the slightest since he was one of the harder characters to play, but he was annoying as fuuuuuuuck.
Rolento got a lot less shit and that character was 1000000000000x easier to play than Elf. I got way more wins with Rolento and spent half as much time learning him.
It never stopped the accusations, many of them from SRK! It’s why I rarely ever come here for gaming advice or help. It’s been taken over by crying brats.
Not gonna lie I’m kinda eager for further details on what content is coming to SFV to June, besides Ibuki and the Story Mode. I suppose we won’t get any new info until E3.
It wasn’t until USF4 when I realized there could be someone more annoying than El Fuerte… oh my god Rolento was such an abomination in USF4, fighting him was just a chore.
This post reminded me of something. You truly are the reason I still play fighting games. You are the reason I know so much about Ibuki from 3rd strike. When I first started playing 3rd strike I struggled with a lot of matchups. You gave me some really good advice for the Urien match (you actually told me Ibuki BEATS Urien 6-4), you also helped me with the Oro and Chun-Li matchups. You even gave me guidance on how to fight the Twins.
I don’t even know how I got into Ibuki. One day I was just fiddling around with different characters and I was winning matches with her because of one combo “S.mk -> Raida”. Then i played against Nica KO (SF3LP) and lost every match. I got bodied so fucking hard. I couldn’t pull a win to save my fucking life. We were talking back and forth and I asked him who he thought my best character was. He replied with “Ibuki” I was surprised because I thought it was my worst. I mained her ever since.
My time spent playing 3rd strike was truly valuable although I never got super good at it. I only got to play it for a year and a half before SF4 killed it and my desire to play FG’s. Shit, it took a year just to be able to beat anyone decent at the game. But because I played 3rd strike a lot of the fundamentals I learned carried over into SFV. 3rd strike has a special place in my heart because I can basically play any character in that game that’s not a charge character, Makoto or Dudley. 3rd strike always had that “easy to pick up and play; difficult to master” vibe with me.
But seriously, dude, you are a major positive influence to me. You have no idea. I don’t call you “my favorite person” just to dick ride. In a world full of fucked up cruddy niggas you’re a beacon of light out this bitch.
I don’t really actively pick top tiers, though I do almost always end up playing characters that are at least high tier. Once a character starts feeling unrewarding, in the sense that I feel that my wins are attributed to my opponents playing badly rather than me playing well, I almost always drop them in favor of something better and shinier.
On a related note: I’ve been trying out UMvC3 last week since a friend of mine wanted more people to play with, and this exact thing happened here. I was initially planning on having Sentinel on my team, but I just couldn’t. He just felt so limited and lackluster compared to the other characters I tried, and even though I like his assist, I plainly wasn’t having fun whenever he got pulled out.
Why can I not watch a replay directly from my match history in my profile? Why do I have to add it to favourites, back out and go to my saved replays, scroll all the way down due to a broken filter and no option to bulk delete, all just to watch a replay I will likely only watch once?
Smh. Front-end design from someone who never used their own ui for more than 10 minutes.
