And is pretty much kept alive by the hardcore crowd…see, this is why I don’t get when people try and put a symbiotic relationship with SF and the overall FGC of every other Fighting Game.
If SF was even remotely connected, then a BIG chunk of people would atleast have SF as a side game…but that only really happened with SF5, and we don’t even know how certain that future is since this is still year one. And at the same time, we would be having alot of casuals who play SF have some other game as a secondary.
This is frankly why I’m baffled when people be saying things like “SF put the FGC on it’s back” when you might as well say “SF is putting Capcom on it’s back” because when you say the former, you might as well say “If SF dies, Melee and Smash 4 along with Pokken is dead too” which is absolutely ludicrous.
That doesn’t even make sense when you factor in how different the 2D crowd is to the 3D crowd as well as Airdasher games is to games like SF and KOF. SFV has it’s hardcore crowd who will stick by the game till the day it dies…and then it gains a cult following just like every other SF.
We already having Guilty Gear in a few days and Blazblue in a few months, Ibuki is going to be way too late for that train lol.

Capcom needed to release cinematic/story clips like Blizzard did for Overwatch. No story content whatsoever, but hype as hell.
Like I haven’t hear anyone complain about Overwatch not having a single player mode where you just play vs CPU or some shit. SF5 is a 1v1 game, but for some reason people think it should have arcade mode.
SF5’s polish is just ass. If everything was great from the start, nobody would care about lack of content… because even the shitty story modes we got would have been fleshed out better.

Overwatch is an online 6v6 shooter with lots of content.
Street Fighter V is a 1v1 fighting game that doesn’t have much content outside of gameplay.
Whats this " lots of content" you speak of?
Competitive games don’t need a lot of content, they just need the core experience to be damn near perfect. Rainbow Six Siege is a perfect example.
