He reminds me of Akuma or most 3 bar trigger characters that have shit/no reversals. They’re a time bomb and you just have to get to them first and force them to burn V Reversals. The more V Reversals you can force out of them the less chance they’ll get to comeback. If you let Rog get too much of advantage early then the cards will not be in your favor later on. Your best bet is to force enough V Reversals out of him that by the time he gets V Trigger, one nice metered combo can end him or almost end him.
In my experience as Akuma, all of this is true and he never really feels overly powerful. I struggle the most when I play someone that works around fireballs effectively and I can’t get anything going. His CH and CC game can turn the tide quickly, especially with VT combos.
I’m not gonna lie. I don’t think Akuma is bad, but I don’t see that top 5 talk. Sure, he have amazing damage and okizeme, but I can name characters who have that as well, with actual good normals such as Karin. Granted, her set play isn’t as ambiguous as Akuma’s that require EX DP and trigger.
The character Imo, honestly have legit issues in neutral, and that’s a pretty big glaring flaw on a character that isn’t particularly super mobile. He is also very susceptible to walk back to hamper his offense since low forward or sweep have mediocre range.
Of course, this is super early and he could be a god for all we know. But I could name a few characters I’d put above Akuma for sure. Also, he seems to do pretty bad vs some characters. Cammy, Rog, and Guile, notably come to mind.
Wait, did** she** just mash Ryu’s parry and parry all of Urien’s super? SFV confirmed brain dead? 3rd strike players outta be salty right about now knowing they spent years mastering parries, while in SFV all you have to do is just mash it.
Akuma, Necalli, and Ken are all three bars with good reversals. Then you have Ibuki and Juri with solid EX reversals, which after the meterless DP nerf are on even ground now. Urien has an interesting reversal and the rest are either only armored or non existent.
Only thing I hate about Uriens reversal is it recovers too quick on whiff and if you block it outside point blank you can’t get a really strong CC punish as Juri (just st. hK)
Capcom was so willing to overbuff Urien they don’t even nerfed the recovery on his ex reversal, meanwhile all other “tricky” ex dps to punish in s1 got nerfed, and are all piss easy to punish with an standard crush counter combo.
That’s why I didn’t mention those characters because they have solid EX reversals. They have another out. More so speaking about Rog and Urien and how they are one character with and without full V Trigger.
Akuma’s low health pool means early in the fight he’ll have to opt for v reversals as burning ex meter and making a bad bet could get him nearly killed off breaks. He also needs full super as his v trigger is strong, but isn’t what I would call devastating until he has full super and trigger where he has access to demon which shuts down most options in the game and allows him to run free with pressure.
Sherry isn’t cute at all, I had a feeling a few of you were secretly getting boners over that picture of her looking in the mirror, remember it’s just a photoshopped picture. The pictures they use of her ARE the real Sherry.
I’ve already had a plentiful amount of matches where I’ve gone from a 60% defecit to converting a VT combo, corner-to-corner comboing them and then two-touch stunning into the win.
