The Street Fighter V Lounge: Kolin is COLD HEARTEEEEEEEEED!

I haven’t seen many 2 bar characters really having the problem of just never being able to use their trigger. Urien and Rog have enough health now to usually get it at some point and have solid crush counter games any ways. Rog with solid V Skill options also.

I only really feel its an issue for Bison and a few other characters since Bison is a 3 bar trigger guy with still no invincible reversal other than super and slightly less siutiational, but still situational V Skill use. I can’t really find any other character where it’s a legitimate issue.

It goes back to “is it too hard to open people up or is it too easy?” Everyone seems to have their own answer which is amazing.

I’m trying to figure out what the fuck they wanted ryu to be season 2

That awkward moment when:

1: There’s terrible Star Wars fighting game
2: The major part of the title is in Finnish…
3. …That is incorrect. (should be Teräskäsi)
4. It sounds dumb as hell.
5. Max provides terrible jokes and acting

It’s easy to open people up in neutral but there’s little reward for doing so.

I don’t see what’s so mysterious or contradictory about that.

I was mainly thinking of 3 bar characters of course. Bison, Ken, Rog, Ibuki, Urien all have pretty precious VTs that allow them to extend combos significantly or give them massive comeback potential. You don’t give a shit about a V-Reversal with Vega or Chun since you will build that meter again eventually.

Just give everyone Vega’s v-reversal. Then they’ll always have v-meter for trigger.

Edit: Ocean not true, if you actually use v-skill combos in your punishes you can get two v-triggers a round with Vega a solid amount of the time which is super strong.

Daigo making it work.

Fixed for truth

so you are a fan of wakeup jab now?

that’s news

in any case removing QR would be a NERF to sim since being able to not give a fuck about QR/BR timing is one of sim’s strengths right now

That statement is what you think, but it’s not what others have stated. There are people who talk as if they have to grit their teeth just to open someone up in neutral.

It’s just another discussion that’s just really all over the place, but in tournament practice I don’t really see people having these problems and matches generally go at a good pace. Ken still Kens people, Mika still Mikas people, Cammy still Cammies people, yeah. It probably feels more interesting to some people, but the game already has enough things in place I feel where momentum works well.

Yeah the only character that’s really a problem for is Bison. Ken is just inherently strong enough before his V Trigger where it’s not a huge issue. Rog has a great V Skill for building gauge with, on top of solid crush counters and a slightly buffed health pool. Urien has solid crush counters, an invincible EX move that isn’t bad in neutral and a slightly buffed health pool. Ibuki has solid crush counters, can basically control her own V Gauge fate with one of the best V Skills in the game and a buffed health pool.

But then everyone will suck

Yes but combining that + CCs and simply taking damage building 2 VTs is not hard even if you V-Reversal once (if I’m not mistaken you can build up to 5 bars by just taking damage assuming you use V-meter as soon as you build it).

A goddamn corpse. I can’t think of a single think that Ryu can do well enough without being overshadowed by everyone and their mother including the fetus.

Daigo is an honest man. He’s not worried about oki and set play. He will beat you straight up, the way it should be.

he couldnt even win in season 1 so not really???

I’m a fan of pressure and things that beat downback and things that beat upback and things that beat backdash and overly defensive play in general.

I’m not a fan of allowing my victims to get off the ground Scott free with little thought as to how they got out there cause it doesn’t matter to them cause they will just take the free neutral. That’s one reason why hated sf4 crouchteching. It was such a good defensive maneuver at intermediate levels and even high level, that players oftentimes would just opt to block jumpins and crouchtech out… so players with bad neutral actually had ok neutral cause they could focus most of their attention to the graound and not the air since they could just crouch tech out of most pressure. I don’t believe that jumpins should be good by design, but I think they should threaten danger by necessity. There should always have to be a healthy amount of focus relegated to AAing at all times in my book or else the game becomes very paint by numbers and rote.

Oh. That’s right. If he doesn’t win tournaments, he must suck.

how does any of this have to do with wakeup jab though?

I am a fan of strong pressure too, hence why I said removing QR would be a step in the right direction (even if it’s not a complete solution)

I suspect we’re in agreement here and there’s been a miscommunication. tiring day for me so it’s bound to happen.

Diago “I really wish I was evil Ryu right now” Umehara

What is it about this game that makes me want to play it and then hang myself after?

i mean he also lost to lupe fiasco
